I used to imagine cabins speckling its landscape and story’s being told by travelers from far off places! There’s 60 acres of hills for hiking a peaceful creek for meditation or just stick your feet in! A beautiful bamboo grove where we plan to build a camping platform in the very near future and you’ll be able to sleep in tha bamboo forest! There’s several old buildings and unfinished projects left behind from my father we have a series of small cabins we will be building with them over the next 2 years it’ll be called “Boho Bottom”. We also host events, so far they are few and small but so much fun!! There is currently one communal bathroom with several more due to be built in the next year or so. There is usually plenty of firewood available and there is an outhouse on the site. The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now the frogs provide great music. This is a rustic campsite, with rocks, roots, and steep terrain. Please bring your own camping gear, including chairs, and please take your trash with you. There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery.

Glamping tent with queen size bed! Out door shower with hot water available. There’s also a camp toilet by the tent or just let us know if you’d like to use the toilet in the small cabin behind us. This site does have solar power (enough to charge your phone) Here at Kahu Farm we offer a secluded site for your peace and enjoyment! We’ve cut trails through the property where you can walk around. Feel free to stop up at the house to visit with the friendliest Nigerian Dwarf goats and their kids or stop by the outdoor kitchen for your all natural mosquito and Tick repellent made right here that actually works. We also make artisan soaps that are available for purchase. Try a sample of them in the outdoor shower! Check in time is 3 pm and checkout by noon! Pitch your tent, hang you hammock, or park your camper and enjoy the great outdoors. There are a couple of level spots for your tents, as well as a nice rock fire pit for you to use. There is usually plenty of firewood available and there is an outhouse on the site. The pond hasn't yet been stocked with fish, but hopefully soon it will have more than just frogs. But for now the frogs provide great music. This is a rustic campsite, with rocks, roots, and steep terrain. Please bring your own camping gear, including chairs, and please take your trash with you. There is plenty of privacy, even though you are right near a public road that has very little traffic. There are no other campsites nearby and the owner lives 1/2 mile away. Recreation nearby includes Canoeing/kayaking on both the Elk River and Richland creek (shuttles can usually be arranged), Stillhouse Hollow Falls (beautiful waterfall hiking), Trail of Tears Interpretive Center, and Big Creek Winery.

Bates Farm was a great place to stay. I booked a site later in the afternoon and I had a response from Mary confirming the booking almost immediately. The hosts were super polite and very helpful. Bathrooms and shower were very clean and worked amazing. The archery range looked like it would be fun and I will have to return with my bow next time!

We loved are stay here. Pretty tent and very good setup even a small bathroom nere the tent which was very nice.
Loved the barn area for campers with the kitchen and porch sitting area with TV was very cool. And the outhouse with shower was so nice. Also felt very safe. The Animals were so friendly my favorite was the sweet donkey. My partner loved the cats and dogs. Loved are stay here will definitely be visiting again.

Chris’s land was very secluded but easily accessible. We really enjoyed our two night stay. Very close to Dismal Canyons and a few miles from town in case you need anything. I would suggest taking water for drinking/cleaning up. I would definitely recommend and I am planning another trip soon.

Bate Farm is the best tent camping I have found in North Alabama. The hosts are extremely accommodating and helpful. Great for families that want a quiet get away or anyone that just wants a great camping experience. Each campsite is laid out perfectly so you have your privacy. We were so pleased with our stay that this is our new “go to” place for camping and we’ll definitely continue to frequent Bates Farm.

I loved camping on the Bate's Farm. Wayne was a great host. The facility had a great balance of rustic nature and modern amenities. The land was peaceful and natural. Each site was private and included a fire pit, picnic table, and trash bin. Free showers, laundry, and a playground were also available.

Bates Farm is a beautiful spot. The caring and kind hosts maintain a well-kept space to enjoy tranquil nature. Our stay was brief and simple. The Endor site was private and easy to access. The restrooms & showers on site were clean and comfortable. The archery range looked great, though we did not utilize it. They have a delightful selection of family-friendly activities available.

Bates Farm is a 10/10 experience for camping. The grounds are gorgeous and Mary and Wayne were lovely. Hands down, best camping shower I’ve ever had. We enjoyed the flower trail, fire pit and watching the stars at night. Highly recommend this place!

1 night at Kahu Farm
We had a great experience camping on Lora's land. She welcomed us in with her husband and showed us around the property. I paid for some of her home made bug spray which worked extremely well and is all natural. The property was private, quiet, and clean. They had a bathroom and water, an outdoor kitchen, fresh eggs, fresh goat milk, well behaved animals, beautiful award winning goats. She made us a cup of coffee in the morning, provided firewood, amazing spring water. The tent was clean and warm, she provided us with blankets and basic essentials. Beautiful outdoor shower. She allowed me to take some photos on her property. Great time.

Weekend Trip to Kahu Farm
We went for a night out. Call us crazy cause we didn't drive but about 15 minutes. We went glamping for the first time. If you haven't I do recommend it. We had a nice tent with the softest queen size bed ever built on a platform. Nice portable potty in a small tent right outside. A fire ring that they provided the wood for. A double hammock and a dinning outside table. If that wasn't enough a short walk on a path would take you to the outside kitchen with anything you could need. Also provide indoor plumbing with a huge shower. The host was amazing. Spend our morning on their front porch just talking. The kids can see chickens and goats. They have 2 doggies and the most interesting bird that talks and sings. They also offer kayaking where they drop you off and pick you up. We will definitely be going back even being so close to home. It's just the getaway on the edge of Lewis and Lawrence county that gives you the feeling of being in a mountain setting.. I wish I would had taken more pictures of the amazing farm but I did not. I will next time for sure. We booked through hip camp. Definitely recommend for a night out. Also they do have some solar power inside the tent. Last night it stormed and was cold out. But inside was dry and super warm.

Dan and Mandy were excellent hosts. We camped in campsite 10 which was big enough for two families with dogs. There was plenty of firewood to be gathered. Dan and Mandy were responsive, extremely accommodating, and checked in the right amount. They are very passionate about their campground and it shows. The bathrooms were well lit and fully stocked. Look forward to coming back here with the kids! There is a swimming hole on site but the water was low due to lack of rain recently. It was still knee high and felt refreshing. The kids loved walking through the water. The star gazing at night was incredible. There is no city lights. Will definitely come back!

The ride to our camp site was amazingly beautiful down a trail. Once we got to our campsite it was beautiful open grassy area woodsy trails open nature pluse stargazing. Each campsite sets far back from each other for more privacy. This is true nature camping experience we loved it. Our host was very helpful and we will certainly come back. It's going to be gorgeous when the leaves start changing.
