As a person born and raised in Utah, living in Las Vegas, and regularly recreating in Greater Zion, this is where you want to camp offgrid.
Mind that it can be windy, and it is higher elevation than St George (layer up). Lots of trees for windbreaks around.
This is a rare and sacred opportunity to experience the heritage and legacy of family ranching & the unique history of southern Utah.
Get there while you still can.

We stayed here a week ago and it was an awesome place. Wide open and the views are insane. Perfect camp spot if you're spending time in the Kolob Canyons. Lastly, very nice fire pits available for use (even in the wind it was perfect)!

Was really not expecting to have to drive onto Zion to get onto the property. What an amazing view for the sunrise and the stars at night. Also really not too far from town! Everyone was fairly spaced out and didn’t feel like we were on top of each other. Lovedddd our stay here! Will be coming back for sure.

Amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing. The views are epic, stunning, just beautiful. I got there at 5 and did not go back out because I just sat there looking at the views for 3 hours. Amazing stars as well. 40ish minutes from Zion Springdale entrance. Highly recommend this HipCamp. I totally understand why it is in thr top 50. I will come back here. There are cows too! I had a Jeep Cherokee and it did just fine just take it easy. Again, highly recommend this place!

We thought this was a nice spot, cool views, plenty of room to space yourself out. Road was a little chewed up so could make things harder in a small rental with not much clearance. Would stay there again

It was fine. Green porta potty was absolutely disgusting! Cannot have been emptied or cleaned in months! I was otherwise prepared. Do not use a high profile tent here, big mistake. Twelve hour of ceaseless very high winds destroyed my tent. No fault of host.

Overall my experience with the Wright Family Ranch was beautiful and pleasant. My wife and I stayed there for 4 nights while we were visiting Zion.
It is a beautiful plot of land relatively close to Zion maybe about 25 minutes away. There is basically access to numerous of different fire pits which designate the different campsites so that provided a very unique experience where we actually got to pick our own campsite.
Because of the isolated location it will probably be one of the most beautiful star gazing experiences that you can see with absolutely clear skies that set the mood.
Overall I can easily see myself coming back whenever we visit Zion again.
However there is one clear problem with the site itself, it’s not the most clean site you will visit, ESPECIALLY the road is not really maintained at all, the weather conditions weren’t perfect when we went however it made the roads to and from the campsite almost not drivable whatsoever, the mud build up was insane that we were seeing cars hydroplane on and off the road all week. Some people got stuck and were forced to wait out the weather for the mud to dry up. 4 Wheel drive is a MUST. I can’t possibly imagine how anyone without a SUV, Jeep or a Truck could ever visit this campsite which a huge shame, even when the mud was finally dried up the terrain was still extremely unsuitable for most cars to drive on, filled with potholes and deep tracks that’s make difficult to navigate.

Absolutely stunning spot to camp, secluded from big crowds and has lots of availability! Probably one of my favorite camping spots I have been too. You do need a car that can off-road a bit as it gets bumpy on the property, especially after rain a few days earlier. The other thing that was unexpected, and the only thing that we were a bit put off by, were the cows. Everything was fine with the cows freely grazing until 7 or so circled us right before it became dark. It was a bit unsettling. Otherwise top experience and would highly recommend!

This is a stunning campground! You will get great views of Zion and quiet mornings. The camp sites can be as close or as far from others as you want. In the morning you can hear coyotes, the sound of cowbells, and see beautiful bright colored bluebirds.
When we stayed there it rained and snowed all night, and, with a Honda Odyssey, could not leave the campground until 4pm due to the slick mud. We assisted someone with a Prius to get out of a rut of mud, and it took them 3 hours to get the 100 feet to the road. Another small vehicle got stuck in a ditch a stone’s throw down the road from the campsite.
We didn’t get stuck in the mud because we followed the written instructions not to leave until the ground was dried up. With 2WD we were able to make it up and down easily, but very carefully. I suggest 4WD if you know it’s going to rain, but if it’s dry you can probably get there without problem in any vehicle! We will definitely stay here again when there’s drier weather.

One note is that the portapotties were very full, with no toilet paper. Make sure to pack extra. And if you have questions or concerns, the host may not be reachable if you have no signal.

This was such a unique and amazing camping experience! The view is stellar, and we loved hearing the cowbells in the morning and in the evening. There are so many sites to choose from that you do not have to have neighbors and can have what it feels like your own private camping experience. If we ever get back to Zion, we will definitely choose. The Wright Family Ranch. Our only complaint is that unfortunately we stayed during a nearly full moon in south east stars were not as visible as they normally would have been without the moon. I can only imagine what the sky would look like on a clear, dark night.

The land was absolutely beautiful with great views. I would definitely stay there again! The bathrooms closest to us were not very clean but some further out were in a little better condition. The roads are fine but just had to go slow as they are very bumpy and we were in a small rental car. Overall, it was a great stay and lots of room to pick where you want to stay. We ended up moving on our last night to an area surrounded by trees as it was super windy, so it was great to have the option to go wherever. Lots of fire pits already set up or lots of rocks to build your own. Again, really enjoyed it and would recommend to all but be aware of the difficult roads and not super clean restrooms. Also it was fun to see lots of cows on the land!!

The site has spectacular views. I bit difficult to get to but worth it. Camping area is huge so you can be a long distance from your neighbor. Only draw back are the porta-potties. While there are a lot of them, it’s clear they rarely get pumped out. Close to over flowing.

We in and out on road fine.
The porta potty has not been cleaned in a very long time. Bring toilet paper.

The scenery was AMAZING! A little tough to get to with a passenger car, but worth it if you can make it. Pick your spot was great. Lots of fire rings. Only downside is overflowing porta-potties. Kind of a downer.

Wright Ranch was magical. The land is so beautiful, surrounded by majestic stone formations and mesas.
The camp sites are very spaced out and all have a fire pit.
We loved this place and would highly recommend it.

Property was prepped as listed! You can’t catch a better view of the stars! Be careful after a heavy rain because as stated the roads can leave big tire track divots. But any 4 week drive, SUV, or camper will handle the roads fine! Awesome stay!

Stunning views, silly cows, remarkable location to experience the beauty of the canyon and check the weather before you go! Truly is super unique and it’s more about picking your view than a campsite. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back. Bring your own TP, as well!

10/10 : Views, campsites, stars, peace and quiet.
0/10 : port o potties worst I’ve ever experienced and I’ve pooped a lot of places all over the world. Hasn’t been cleaned in months, totally full to the brim full of flies. Bring a shovel and poop in the wide open.
All in all- Absolutely beautiful and would return better prepared to poop anywhere other than the port o potty.

This place is most amazing spot you will ever see in your life. You do need to watch the weather. The red CLAY you will get you stuck on the 2 track roads. It’s kind of greasy coming off of the switchbacks. If you are in a rental car from California, and you have never driven in this kind of dirt before, please pay attention to the weather and wait!!!!! I don’t know how many people we dug out because they didn’t have shovels or sandbags or kitty litter. Most beautiful spot you’ll ever stay at we had an amazing time and we waited the weather out and lived our best Life… will totally be back again. Thank you for the opportunity and experience.

Close to the main entrance for Zion. Full experience with the cows roaming around and mooing. The one thing I would note is the porta potty needs desperate attention.
Place is great, amazing views, great star gazing site, no cell phone service.

Had a wonderful time. Beautiful place to camp out, and youll have some friendly cows as your neighbors. It felt like we camped in Zion NP without having to deal with crowds/reservations/chaos; definitely would come back and spend more time in the area!

My family's stay at Zion Wright Family Ranch was enjoyable. Bill was nice to work with considering check in time for us was so late at the night. The morning sunrise was beautiful to watch and the greets from the cows seasoned the day perfectly. The Zion view was relaxing which my family and I found as being the most outstanding way to wake to a new day and look forward to our roadie adventures at hand! I recommend you book this delightful stay.

Incredibly beautiful, once-in-a-lifetime experience! Everything from the views to the stars to the cows was amazing, my fiancée and I had a wonderful time. Getting up to the site was a little bumpy so definitely have a vehicle
that is equipped to do so, but you won’t have any regrets!

Beautiful view and peaceful setting. Very close to excellent trails that don't force you to go to the crowded Zion NP entrance. The Left Fork trail gorgeous and had almost no hikers.
