Brother Fish Ranch is a must stay!
Nestled within the beautiful foothills of Southern Alberta on Treaty 7 Territory and just a quick drive from Calgary - Brother Fish Ranch is a one of a kind experience that’ll leave you filled with gratitude.
Upon driving onto the ranch we were greeted with free-range chickens, loving dogs and a beautiful yard with horses and goats. Hosts Butch & Debby started our stay off with a meet and greet in their zen garden, which was a lovely way to learn the history of the land, why they became Hipcamp hosts and their intentions of the Tipi.
Shortly after we did a walkthrough of the Ranch, Butch suited us up and took us out to their beehives and walked us through our first honey harvest - a truly exhilarating and fun experience!
Following our honey harvest, and before entering the tipi Butch told us the story of the tipi which he will share with all guests, and lead us through a smudge ceremony. After our smudge, Debby and Butch left us to enter the tipi and have our first impressions of their luxurious tipi.
The interior was unbelievable - filled with beautiful decor, a cloud-soft bed, crystals, a Nespresso machine, a chandelier, and handcrafted flower bouquets by Debby with her own flowers. She had even provided some snacks to enjoy our honey with along with a snack bag full of apples and carrots to share with the goats/horses - unremarkable!
Of course, the weather decided to be uncooperative for our stay, with high winds and rain, but luckily the Ozan they set up to prevent rain spilling in, worked wonders and we never had an issue. We were also pleasantly surprised by how well the canvas walls stood up against the wind.
We couldn’t recommend this stay enough, it’s a full-on grounding experience and perfect for a quick getaway if you’re coming from Calgary!
