Quiet, majestic back to nature spot!
This is a place to get away from a busy life.
With close proximity to Winchell Lake, this land is ideal for fishing, hiking or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery.
We have 4 campsites available for tent or RV/trailer campers. If you're bringing an RV, we have two power outlets and water available. You will be parking on a field and the site requires levelling.
Electricity and firewood are both available for purchase (see extras below). Please add this to your reservation at the time of booking.
Campfires are permitted, pets are welcome. Potable water, picnic table, and outhouse are all available.
We have cows, goats, chickens, horses and dogs and cats on the property that
generally love people. :) I have only one dog and typically allow dogs to run off leash. We do have to be careful that it doesn't turn to a dog gang as this happened once and they took down one of my goats. The goats Hon and Chewy are okay but it took months for poor Hon to heal. I also worry about the chickens and the cats so please keep and eye on your dogs!
Lots of treed areas for private camping, horseback riding hiking and walking!
Bird watching is big around here as we are on a bird migratory path.
We are just above Winchell Lake and less than 10 km from Water Valley Golf Course and Saloon.
Please recognize that you are visiting a Ranch not a campsite. We are sharing our piece of heaven with you and you are helping to support our animals and their heaven.
Chickens are "True" Free Range and hand fed every morning. Eggs are $10 a dozen to pay for their feed. :)
Every spring the rain tends to cause ruts and washes out some of the road on the way to the back forty where the meadow is. We gather rocks on the property to fill the ditches but the early part of the year the roads can be bumpy. Please ask the conditions of the road when you book if you have concerns. Thanks!

We had an exceptional, deeply moving experience staying in Laura’s beautiful walk-out basement. It felt like a cozy sanctuary, offering breathtaking, peaceful views from the patio that instantly brought calm to our souls. Laura is the most warm and welcoming host; she truly treated us like family.The truest magic was watching our toddler live out her ultimate dream. She spent endless, joyful hours with the horses and formed the sweetest bond with Laura's dogs, Sunny and Sher, who were sooooo cuddly and gentle with her. Watching them bond against that stunning Alberta backdrop was pure bliss. Our daughter left incredibly happy, and we left with hearts full of gratitude. This place is pure magic!

If you have chance to stay at this place then take it! Our 2 night stay was a last minute change of plan and it ended up being the highlight of our 3 week trip touring the west of Canada. Laura's ranch is a truly special place. Host Laura was fantastic and incredibly welcoming to all of us. She gave our children a really memorable experience not least with her animals. They loved learning about her horses and how to groom them and collecting the eggs from her chickens. We all really enjoyed the firepit area with some other campers. We loved everything about her ranch and the fantastic area. The local saloon and liquor store are both must visits and we were sad to not have more time to go to other local places. We hope to be back again soon!

We had so much fun for our stay here. The dome was so well done and being beside the river was so peaceful. Finished our night with a fire beside the river and honestly it was amazing. Definitely would come back!!

Laura’s place is amazing! We stayed in the barn loft and had an amazing time. Trip highlights were:
- 360 barn loft view storm watching.
- Seeing beautiful amazing horses and getting to go on a trail ride.
- Wing night at water valley saloon.
- Gorgeous sunsets and amazing golden hour photography walks.
- The friendliest 4 legged tour guides and local celebrities (Sonny and Cher).
- Campfires chatting with a harvest moon, Milky Way sky and beautiful tree line.
- A couple of goats with some personality!
- Best of all amazing hosts who are truly good hearted people and generous to share their wonderful land with strangers who are open to the experience.

We really enjoyed staying in the loft of the barn. We love animals, especially horses, and they were all very engaging, it was amazing!
This particular accommodation is for the young and agile, just to let people know that it is like living on a ranch and there is work to be done; stairs back and forth, hauling water, fire wood, chopping wood, getting all your gear packed up and down again from the loft, etc.
FYI the barn sink doesn't drain well, so dishes are done in the bins provided, then the gray water is dumped outside the barn in an area you won't be walking. They have all the linens, bedding, dishes, paper towels, and kleenex provided. There is coffee and tea, creamer in a mini fridge, and some games, books and other comforts as well. They had a TV and DVD's, a porta-potty in the area next to the barn, their own fire pit with burn barrel, bring chairs.
You have to be careful to leave the gates closed as you come and go, as the horses have to stay in the barnyard after a certain time in the evening. There's a large bluetooth speaker in the barn for when you are at the fire pit. You are sharing the lower part of the barn with kitchen area, with the hosts, as they use this to feed the other animals on the ranch. Bring a cooler, ice & your own towels and wash cloths.
FYI, there is no privacy in the loft, with no curtains on the windows, and no place to change, if you are with a mixed group.
There are other campers in the area and at the main house next door.

My friend and I had the most amazing time on Laura's ranch. We luckily were able to be upgraded to a different accomodation on her property as I had accidentally mixed up the nights we wanted to stay. Laura was so welcoming and showed us some great local hot spots and even recommended some places we had to visit as we traveled to Calgary and beyond. We were able to ride horses and do a trail ride while be fully immersed in the ranch life. We are so looking forward to the next time we are out, unforgettable experience.

We had a wonderful stay in the truck/cabin clementine! My sons’ were thrilled & there was a lot to explore on the property including an enchanted trail. The views are stunning & pride of ownership really shows on this property with all of the neat details that have been added. The hostess/host go above and beyond & we were spoiled with a delicious 5 star breakfast! We will be returning & highly recommend this beautiful get away. While you can’t actually camp in Bragg Creek Provincial Park, we still think a stop is worth your while. Set on the edge of Kananaskis Country between Calgary, Canmore, and Banff National Park, this park is a gateway to the Canadian Rockies. Have a picnic by the Elbow River or take in mountain views from the park’s hiking and biking trails. With a slew of picnic tables, fire pits, and playfields, the park is a popular destination for families and groups. There’s also lots to see and do in the hamlet of Bragg Creek, a charming community that boasts a collection of unique stores and eateries. If you’re hoping to camp in the area, check out the Gooseberry Provincial Recreation Area or McLean Creek Provincial Recreation Area—both are just a short drive from Bragg Creek Provincial Park.
When to go
We love this place any time of the year (and it stays busy year-round), but the Rocky Mountain backcountry is especially magical after a fresh snowfall when visitors can embrace winter fun with campfires, fat biking, and snowshoeing. The parking lots are often packed on weekends and during summer, so you might have to park alongside the road to access trails and picnic sites.
Know before you go
- The nearby Gooseberry Campground in Gooseberry Provincial Recreation Area has first-come, first-served sites, which fill up early in the day starting in May until mid-September. Save the early morning hunt by booking a site at McLean Creek Campground.
- Bragg Creek is bear country. Don’t leave any food behind after your picnic and never burn scrap food in your fire pit—bears have an extremely good sense of smell.
