Past trips
Past trip
in Malabar Farm State Park, OhioPrimitive camping, no electric, porta potty or pit toilets available. Lonely hiking plans and equestrian trails. You can take a horse trail from Malabar to Pleasant hill lake Park, round trip approximately 14 miles.
Past trip
in Alum Creek State Park, OhioWe stayed at the equestrian campground and enjoyed many miles of trails, lots of hills and good scenery of the lake.
Past trip
in Salt Fork State Park, OhioStunning any time of the year, best in Fall! Primitive camping with tents, rv and electric sites as well. Lots of lake to explore on boat or kayak, several people beaches. Hiking trails as well as equestrian trails. Very clean state park
Past trip
in Mohican State Park, OhioDispersed camping is allowed, and in my opinion, is the best, along with "park and pack" sites. But there are also primitive camp sites at the campground, with toilets near by, as well as RV and electric sites. Lots of hiking trails, mountain biking trails and equestrian trails. If you want some off the beaten path, longer, more challenging hikes, I'd suggest using the bike paths or the horse trails, just be respectful to others. Yield to bikers and horses, speak a friendly hello to riders and their mounts, so that they aren't afraid of you ( trust me I ride horses and sometimes they think your giant backpack and trekking poles will eat them).
