Walnut Hollow Ranch

This site is so beautiful and peaceful. We highly recommend to anyone looking to escape the crowded campgrounds. The hosts are highly responsive and helpful. Full hookups are available and the spaces are level and clean. We stayed at site 4 and this site is paved. We will definitely be back if the opportunity presents.

Beautiful views

We loved staying at Walnut Hollow. The property is beautiful, and our family loved watching the cows, chickens and catching fish. The host family was lovely, and our kids loved playing with their kids. The sites are flat, and the water is delicious.

Breathtaking Cattle Ranch

This is a really epic HipCamp experience - and we didn't even leave the ranch! This is a beautifully maintained active Cattle farm in the NC hills. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our camp hosts who helped us get our tow dolly stowed, RV parked+leveled+hooked up, and then set us up with our firewood and fire pit. We bought steaks from the shop onsite for dinner and cooked them on our fire (bring your own grate) every night ... some of the best steak we've ever had! There is a friendly cat on site, two ponds to sit at, breathtaking views, and really incredible (and challenging) walking trails with steep elevation changes, and amazing overlooks. We enjoyed the property so much we never even left.

Best camping ever! The best place!

Walnut Hollow Ranch was amazing! It was our first time camping with out toddler and we wanted to feel safe. The farm was PERFECT! The scene, the mountains, flowers, pond, cows, horse, the ground, everything! The farm is beautiful! Charlie and Kevin were very helpful and welcoming. Charlie gave us a tour to feed the cows, the horse and donkey! We had a great time and good conversation, Charlie is very friendly and we learn a lot from him. We will definitely be back!

Charlie and Kevin were very helpful. We actually had some issues with our gear and they offered some solutions. While the solutions didn’t quite work for us, we were pleased in the way they kept wanting to make it a great experience. The tent sites weren’t as far apart as I expected, but it wasn’t some huge disappointment. Overall a very pretty, rolling hills type of vibe. Not to mention they do greet you personally when you arrive and make sure you’re squared away.

Everything We Had Hoped For!

This place was everything we had hoped for! Welcoming and very organized host + staff. They showed us to our site right away. We were pleasantly surprised with our close proximity to the cows. It was great entertainment for our kids... and adults :) Large bass in the pond, a horse and a donkey too! There is a lot to explore here. This is one of the coolest places we have camped. They also have quite the selection of meat to purchase at the store. We opted for the cowboy cut. It did NOT disappoint. We had a blast here and are already looking forward to our next visit back.

A wonderful surprise

This is the coolest place! We like to camp where we have some services but not on top of each other staring at your neighbor’s sewer hose. This property is serene, immaculately kept up and the nicest people are running the show. You won’t be disappointed in this gorgeous farm.

My wife, two young daughters and I camped at Walnut Hollow Ranch for three nights over Labor Day weekend. The sites and property were extremely well maintained. The location was great, and my family and I enjoyed camping in a really neat cattle ranch in Western North Carolina. Charlie (the host) was extremely responsive and helpful. He was quick to respond to text messages and he regularly checked in on us to make sure we were having a great experience. I would highly recommend this location.

Amazing stay!

Wow! What a wonderful stay we all had. Everyone was professional, helpful, friendly, and available. The sites are clean, flat, set well away from one another, quiet, and offer great views of the gorgeous land. We purchased beef, chicken, and pork....all have been fantastic! Highly recommend Walnut Hollow, Charlie takes outstanding care of the sites and his guests.

Walnut Hollow Woodland Experience

This camp space was the highlight of our trip. The grounds are even more beautiful than in the photos. There is a fishing hole, swimming hole and trails for walking. The meat was some of the best we have eaten and we loved the ranch tour provide by the host Charlie. The kids adored the freedom to roam around and everyone was so nice. We got the added treat of having the cows in our backyard (which depends on which field they are grazing for the time - but we got lucky!). Would love to come back again.

This is a really cool spot. Walnut Hollow Ranch is huge! There are several areas to camp, depending on your preference or seclusion. Some are near the store, others are further (also lots of parking for larger vehicles, as we met a group traveling by bus as well). We opted for the further spot, to kind of test it out. First of all, the views are rather great. From on top of the hill, you can see quite a ways. There were also a bunch of different paths that seemed to converge up where we set our tent too, so next time I visit, I'll have to check those out. It's a bit of a walk to our spot though, so not recommended for the immobile or if you're carrying a lot of gear. However! it is a pleasant walk, with lots of interesting plants to check out on the way (including wild fennel). Also, at sunset there was a ton of fireflies, which was a huge bonus to me. We got rained out unfortunately, so I only saw clear skies for a short bit at night - but it looked like there was very minimal light pollution, fantastic if you enjoy the stars. Shameless plug for the farm too, but there's a meat store on site. We had to pick up a pack on our way out, which was cooked a few days later. I've already talked it up to a few friends/family members, as it was some of the best I've had in a real hot minute. Highly recommend!

Words can’t describe how pretty

From the moment we pulled in we were treated like old friends. Farm workers Carol and Randy showed us the best place to park and helped us settle in. Super kind people. Charlie, our host, represented true southern hospitality. The farm has a sleepy southern feel, not loud or busy. And the grounds were stunning. Manicured flower beds, beautiful ponds, and cows grazing in tall lush grass. If you go, walk up the hills above the farm for a breathtaking view of the mountains. Super easy to park your camper, too. We will DEFINITELY be back!
