High-end glamping with hot tubs in the Garden of England

Imagine a hotel room floating away in a bubble and landing in the Kent countryside and you begin to get the idea of the glamping site, Luna Domes. Its six geodesic domes offer hotel-style comfort inside, with a raised deck and hot tub outside. And it all overlooks the rolling fields and woodland of the High Weald. It’s a perfect backdrop for alfresco breakfasts, invigorating walks, and peaceful time spent outdoors.

Although there are six domes here, you wouldn’t know it. Each enjoys its own setting and a location at least 100 metres from every other. These are very much private getaways and work just as well for couples as they do for a family of four, thanks to clever interior design. The dome is your bedroom, with well-made beds, a toasty log burner, a hairdryer in the dressing area, and a coffee machine in the little kitchenette. Your bathroom is en deck rather than en suite but it’s only a few steps away. It’s private and it’s heated, with toiletries, robes and embroidered towels all provided. There’s even a shaving point.

The domes are nestled in the grounds of Hoath House, an old Kentish manor. It’s an appropriate setting; this area is awash with historic houses, providing plenty of places to visit. Once you’ve finished exploring the gardens and the 20-acre woodland, you could head over to Anne Boleyn’s moated childhood home, Hever Castle. It’s a 30-minute walk or a five-minute drive away. Penshurst Place, once a hunting lodge owned by her husband, King Henry VIII, is only a few minutes’ further. It’s no wonder that one of the nearby pubs is named after the notorious king. It’s not the closest, mind. That one, The Rocks, is just a short walk from the glamping site. Not that you need to leave your dome for good food. A rural version of room service is available: Think fresh produce, straight from the local farm shop, ready and waiting in the dome when you arrive.

Hever Dome
We had a wonderful stay in the Luna Domes. We had the worst of weathers but the best of times! Everything was well thought out and the design flows and works with the nature. We wish we could have used the decking more as it’s gorgeous sitting out there but the weather had other plans. We did go on the amazing hot tub a few times - through rain and bellowing winds - we were toasty and relaxed in the tub! Shops and restaurants are not too far away and we loved exploring the area and coming back to the dome after a full days exploring is just amazing! We were able to prepare some food in the kitchenette and used the grill outside for some steaks! We are a party of 3 and a pup and we always felt that the space was way more than enough. The logs we had were also more than enough for our stay - this is such a great touch as most places we’ve been would charge extra. Definitely a lovely stay and can’t wait to come back again!

Scotney Dome
The inside of the Dome is like a luxury hotel, really nicely fitted out and has a cosy feel with the log burner on. The views from the bed are beautiful!

Chartwell Dome
Beautiful tranquil spot, very private in distance from other domes on-side (only six in total i think). Amazing countryside and excellent property/facilities. Will stay again

Located in Edenbridge, Chiddingstone Hoath, West Kent, Hoath House is a privately owned Manor house, owned by the Streatfield family, brimming with history. Local places to visit include Hever Castle, Penshurst Place, Spa Valley Railway and the Bluebell Railway, Chiddingstone Castle, Groombridge Place & The Pantiles of Tunbridge Wells to name a few. There are also plenty of award winning pubs and restaurants either a short walk or drive from the site. If you need supplies for your dome there is also an amazing farm shop 1km from the site as well as many shops in the local town of Edenbridge,
Nearby attractions

Luna Domes are located in the grounds of Hoath House in Edenbridge, Kent. It’s within the High Weald National Landscape, an area of rolling countryside and woodland, great for walks and bike rides. You can head out on both from here. Perhaps walk the three miles to nearby Hever Castle (it’ll take you about 30 minutes), which is one of the closest attractions to site. It was Anne Boleyn’s childhood home and you can now tour the castle and enjoy the extensive gardens, grounds, and excellent play areas. Chiddingstone Castle is almost as close (just over three miles) and, interestingly, was the ancestral home of the Streatfield family who own Hoath House. It also has beautiful gardens and grounds, open daily. The house and its collections are open from spring until autumn. There are more historic houses too, Penshurst Place, Groombridge Place, and Chartwell (Winstons Churchill’s former home) are all within 10 miles. At Groombridge (six miles) you can also hop aboard the historic trains of the Spa Valley Railway to see the countryside from another perspective or head into Royal Tunbridge Wells for a spot of shopping on The Pantiles, a pretty Georgian shopping arcade.

Food and drink

A stay at Luna Domes can be enhanced by the food and drink on offer to book. You can order in cocktails or a bottle of fizz to be in your dome on arrival and choose from curated local produce packages (all at an extra cost). Cheese selections, breakfast boxes, and snack boxes are all available and come from the excellent Falconhurst Estate Farm Shop, which is, handily, less than two miles down the road. Head there for more supplies during your stay or perhaps for lunch from one of the visiting foodie vans that often pop up there at the weekends. For a pub meal, there’s The Rock Inn, less than a mile away. It’s a proper country pub serving good food. There are other too: The Kentish Horse, which is also a walkable mile-and-a-half from site, The Henry VIII, and The Spotted Dog, both within three miles of your dome.
