Campsites with campfires in Gower AONB

·

Home to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the South Wales Coast, the Gower Peninsula is a small but mighty region where visitors can partake in a range of adventure activities—including watersports, paragliding, and hiking—all within easy driving distance of both Swansea city centre and Cardiff. While Gower is well-known for its coastline, caves, and beaches (especially Rhossili), the region extends inland where keen hikers will find many public rights of way and castles to explore. Campers aren’t short on options either, as the Gower Peninsula has plenty of full-service touring parks, caravanning options, and campsites with sea views.

Cliff Acre is a magical location immersed in nature. Located in a remote part of Gower's rugged south coast, the property is a seven-acre smallholding focused on traditional rural land management and craft. We're not a traditional campsite, but want to share this amazing place for a few limited summer getaways.

Situated on 160 acres within Exmoor National Park, campers are encouraged to take advantage of our relaxed, rule-free approach allowing you to pitch wherever you fancy. Sheltered corners and wide open spaces are aplenty suiting everyone from couples to large groups. Panoramic sea views greet every patch of our working farm while CAMPFIRES and DOGS are actively encouraged. If the views bring you, it's the inclusive facilities that'll keep you. Two blocks contain 10 toilets, 7 unlimited hot showers (try these!), laundry, washing sinks, fridge/freezer & a microwave. There are also freshwater standpipes in each field and a chemical disposal point. However, sometimes a shower doesn't hack it. That's where our converted stone Barn Café comes in-complete with Wi-Fi & charging points. Open all day every day, 'The Barn' provides an oasis away from the elements, where you can enjoy everything from breakfast in the garden to dinner by the woodburner. If DIY campfire cooking is more your style, we also have a fully-stocked farm shop onsite providing all the essentials & much more too! Drinks? There's only one choice... a pint o' Caffyns cider. Homegrown on our 3000-tree strong orchard, located next to the campfields, our apples go from picking to pinting without leaving the farm. From sweet to scrumpy varieties there is no better way to try this land's fabled beverage than in our cider bar. For the adrenaline junkies, onsite horse riding allows you to sample Exmoor's scenery from the saddle. Catering to all experience levels, from beginner to advanced, our range of rides (1hr-3hrs) gives everyone the chance to explore with a discount given to those staying with us! Wandering through Caffyns acreage will introduce you to some of the other friendly farmyard 'locals'. Goats (Hint: Goat Cafe?!), alpacas, chickens, turkeys & sheep are all dotted throughout the farm on the way down to the South West Coast Path on our farm's perimeter. The nearest beach is a 20min walk away (Lee Bay) while Lynton & Lynmouth are 45mins.

Wake up to sea air, wide open skies and the sound of nature at this peaceful, wild-style campsite on the North Devon coast. Set on an organic working farm, each spacious field has no more than six pitches, giving you plenty of room to relax, explore and enjoy the incredible coastal views. Campfires are very much part of the experience. We provide raised firepits to borrow, with logs available to buy on site, making evenings perfect for stargazing, sharing stories and unwinding together around the fire. The campsite is located just outside the small hamlet of Martinhoe, with direct access to the South West Coast Path for spectacular coastal walks straight from your pitch. A historic Roman beacon sits nearby, and the surrounding farmland is rich in wildlife — deer are often spotted in neighbouring fields, alongside birds of prey and songbirds. Facilities are simple and low-impact, with a compost toilet and a water point provided. There is no electricity, no showers and no Wi-Fi — a delightfully off-grid setting designed for those who value peace, space and time outdoors. Spacious, calm and family-friendly, this is an ideal place to slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy a truly rural coastal escape.

Secluded camping, campfires, coast and country. Head west through Wales to the coast and somewhere by the south east corner of Ireland is the beautiful region of Pembrokeshire. Halfway between the smallest cathedral city in the realm and the site of the last invasion of Britain by their Gallic neighbours is the idyll of Sir Benfro. Once in Trevine or Trefin, there is a long bumpy lane with no tarmac. Watch that sat nav go into the blue, and you too can be Ar y Mwny. Make your camp nestled on a gentle hillside, with panoramic views of the sea and countryside. Located just about as far away from any roads as its possible to get in this part of Pembrokeshire, yet still only a short walk to the coast via footpaths. Being situated amongst several hundred acres of farmland, we not only have inspirational views but also the blessing of unobstructed sunrises and sunsets, followed by a wide open starscape. Its possible to take the wildlife for granted, but across the seasons we can delight in the bird flocks, and casually greet the resident buzzards and foxes and the family of Jac y Do that have raised their young here over several decades. And now, the little birds are managing to flourish too. We live here in harmony, and are thankful for the space. Forget that clock. For each pitch there is: Drinking Water Taps Stone Firepit with Old Field Stones to rebuild your own if required. Good firewood available to buy by the basket. Toilets and Showers, currently consisting of: A main toilet block with three toilets with wash basins - each in family-sized rooms. A Ty Bach Toilet Cubicle (water flushing, not chemical). A main shower block with a hot shower and toilet - our own Blue Lagoon cabin. A hot power shower and toilet enclosure. Also available are: A utility room for hot washing up, and a wash and dry laundry option. Fridge / Freezers for ice packs and anything else you might wish to keep cool. A microwave, and phone charging lockers. Recycling Centre with Bins for rubbish and Recycling Boxes that get Emptied Toilet Cassette Emptying and rinsing Facility if you need Electrical Appliances ( phones, lanterns, batteries etc ) may be Charged for Free.

Our beautiful home is a glamping and camping site with its own gorgeous fishing lake on the outskirts of the village of Llandyfan. You can find us to the west of the Brecon Beacons or Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. Llandyfan Campsite has been lovingly re-established in early 2024 by Andy and Jo. Since taking ownership, we have rolled up our sleeves and got stuck into restoring it to its former glory and will soon be back to being a fully operational slice of Welsh heaven. Our first focus has been the fishing lake which we opened in March. The campsite followed in May. We are currently working on electric hook ups and other improvements. We have chickens on site that roam free during the day. They are friendly and like to wander around the tents to say hello to our guests! We would like everyone who visits to have a great time and a relaxing break. Whilst here please be considerate towards others, to their property, and while using the facilities. If you have any concerns, please let us know. We have brought out a few rules from our T&Cs and we kindly ask that you have a read through before your stay. Litter: You must pick up your litter. Please either take it with you or recycle it appropriately in the bins onsite. There are bins around the campsite, please recycle where possible. Pitches to be left as you found them. Noise: Be respectful and consider your neighbours. Keep noise to a minimum after 10pm and before 8am in the morning. No loud music is to be played at any time. Children: Children must be supervised at all times around the campsite and can play within the pitch space allocated to you. At quiet times, it may be possible for children to use vacant pitches for play but this cannot be guaranteed. The amenity block and associated facilities are not to be used as a play area. Dogs: Must not to be left unattended. Are to be kept on leads at all times whilst on the campsite. (We are working on an enclosed dog walking area, however this is not yet available). no refunds on bookings if cancelled withing 10days of booking

Maes Gwennol Camping

20. Maes Gwennol Camping

Cardigan, Wales · 8 units · Tents, Motorhomes
In 2026, we are excited to open our new campsite! Maes Gwennol Camping is a small, peaceful campsite set within a 30-acre ecological cohousing community, just 3 miles from Cardigan (Aberteifi) and 6 miles from the sea. Surrounded by meadows, wildlife and far-reaching views, this off-grid, low-impact campsite offers plenty of space to relax and reconnect with nature. We steward our land to regenerate ecosystems and support wildlife. Public footpaths lead directly from the site through a secluded river valley, woodland and the wider landscape, making it an ideal base for walkers, nature lovers and anyone looking to experience the beauty of West Wales at a slower pace. The campsite is also just a 20-minute walk from the National Eisteddfod site at Llantood, making it a convenient and peaceful place to stay during the festival. We accommodate a maximum of 6 pitch areas and 2 campervan spaces, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of room between guests. Each pitch has its own mown camping area and there is at least 10 metres between pitches. There is loads of space to play games, run around and relax. Additional areas are available for parking cars, campervans and trailer tents. Facilities are simple and low impact and include compost toilets, drinking water tap and outdoor washing-up area. Campfires are welcome in our fire pit areas, allowing you to enjoy evenings under the stars. We encourage guests to tread lightly and enjoy the land respectfully. As part of our low-impact approach, we do not provide refuse collection, so guests are asked to take home any recycling and non-compostable waste. Compostable materials can be placed in the compost toilet system. When available, we can offer seasonal vegetables, fruit, cider and eggs from our free-range chickens, produced within the community. From the campsite you can easily explore Cardigan and the surrounding countryside...the beaches, coastal paths, the Teifi River and Teifi marshes reserve and wildlife of the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coast. Whether you're visiting for the Eisteddfod, exploring the coast, walking local footpaths or simply seeking a peaceful place to camp, Maes Gwennol offers a simple, spacious and nature-focused camping experience in a beautiful corner of West Wales.

Gower AONB camping guide

Where to go

Rhossili Bay

Rated one of the best beaches in the UK, Rhossili Beach is a 3-mile expanse of sand ideal for sunbathing, strolling, or avoiding altogether in favour of sea-based watersports. You can also reach Worm’s Head from Rhossili Beach, a promontory that becomes an inaccessible island during high tide, as well as paraglide from Rhossili Downs. When it comes to camping, you’ll find plenty of places to pitch your tent along the coast.

Swansea

Though the Gower Peninsula is technically situated within Swansea, Wales’ second city is also an excellent base within the region which offers proximity to wider South Wales, including the Valleys, Brecon Beacons, and Wye Valley, as well as access to several camping stores. However, given Swansea’s urban sprawl, campsites and motorhome parks with wifi access are situated on the outskirts of the city.

Mumbles

Mumbles, an unusually named seaside town known for the “Mumbles Mile” of pubs and its 19th-century pier, is situated on the eastern edge of the Gower Peninsula. A great place to set up camp if you love beaches, Mumbles is also a convenient spot to start the Gower Coastal Path and is situated close to a couple of family-run caravan parks and campsites, including Nicholaston.

Gower Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

Rhossili Beach, Oxwich Bay, and Three Cliffs Bay are all part of the Gower Peninsula Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a protected area crisscrossed by footpaths, dotted with wildlife trust reserves, and dense with protected woodland which is a haven for walking and birdwatching. The Gower Coast Path also runs the length of the AONB coastline, while caravan parks and campsites typically offer sea views, electric hook-ups, and other amenities.
