Weekend Trip to Goren Farm

Loved how wild and peaceful this campsite is. We had a whole wildflower meadow to ourselves! Beautiful countryside, great hosts, we'll be back!

Weekend Trip to Goren Farm

We stayed in the old moor hideaway pitch, which was lovely and private, looking over one of the beautiful wildflower meadows. The pitch has cows nearby, which we liked but if you’re not a fan of cows it might not be the pitch for you. Lots of lovely butterflies and birds to watch. Compost loos, sink and showers all good, fire pit provided. Checking in wasn’t super smooth as the host hadn’t received a notification that we’d booked on here, but they were friendly and welcoming when we did arrive. Website said there was wheelbarrows to transport stuff up to the plot because you couldn’t drive the whole way but there wasn’t any. There was also a recycling sign recommending burning light plastics in your firepit… not particularly good for the environment or your health breathing in the fumes… Despite these little things I would visit again, lovely spot.

3 nights at Goren Farm

We had a magical time camping at Goren Farm. Blessed with lovely weather we enjoyed having nature all around. Photographing flowers, bees and insects in the meadows and relaxing with birdsong and a glass or two of wine. Just perfect. We hope to return to this very special place.

Really lovely campsite! Beautiful location - toilets were super well maintained, pleasantly surprised by the warm shower and the shampoo/bodywash left out in the bathroom. Had a dip in the river and a campfire, really wonderful experience :)

We love it here. Very relaxed rural space with only one pitch per field. Beautiful wildflowers and they have worked hard at creating a biodiversity paradise. You almost never find campsites this isolated in the UK.

Lovely peaceful spot and a perfect location to explore Meldon area of Dartmoor. Note the Hipcamp directions are inaccurate but Phil messaged with very clear directions. Access to plot allows an L3H2 van ... just!!!

A gem of a campsite if you like things nice and simple. The showers and loos were spotless, and the owners extremely helpful with lots of information available about making the most of the area. The Wi-Fi didn’t work for me in the field, but this wasn’t an issue. It was good to tune out!

2 nights at South Dean Camping

South Dean is such a great campsite! We had a lovely stay with amazing views and lots of space to ourself. The facilities were brilliant, always clean, and well lit. Thank you so much Billy!

1 night at Girt Down Camping

Girt DOWN FARM ..... Beautiful, relaxing and stunning surroundings of views of the coast. The sunset and sunrise were stunning. Stargazing is a must. Lovely to chat to Paul and Lesley whilst they are going about their daily farming. They have a wealth of knowledge of the area. Their fresh hens eggs were amazing. We had a lovely breakfast roll in the morning too. Showers, toilets and washing up area are lovely and clean. Fresh spring water out of the tap. There is an old railway carriage to chill, charge your phone and a fridge freezer. Firepits & Wood and you can also BBQ. This is such a lovely and friendly farm. A great place for families, couples or Trekkers. You can chill & unwind with a book, plenty of wildlife and birds. There are walks out of the farm, take a stroll up to Great Hangman or a carry on to Little Hangman which was about an hour. Again the views of the coasts are stunning at the top. You can carry on walking which takes you to Combe Martin beach, cafes, chippy, shops and a butchers. Or walk the other way to Heddons mouth which takes about 4 hours but so worth it..... beach, a pint and a lovely meal. Girt farm is surrounded by so much to do locally, local produce, quaint villages, Exmoor and walks galore. There are Buses from Combe Martin which go both ways up and down the coasts. I would highly recommended. AND We will be back for a longer stay next time. A REAL HIDDEN 💎 GEM. 🏕

Very welcoming and lovely atmosphere, I forgot my pillows and was kindly lent some for the evening, first time taking my dog camping and he loved it and so did I! Will be coming back again soon for sure :)

Weekend Trip to Girt Down Camping

Gorgeous views of the coast and camping just as it should be - back to basics with acres of space but perfectly adequate and clean facilities. The coast path is just a few minutes away from the site and there are some incredible views to be had from Little Hangman. The Heddon Valley is close by too and definitely worth visiting. The coast path here is seriously hilly, but with views like this, it is well worth the effort.
