So, relax in the wood-fired hot tub, stargaze by the firepit, and discover what the local area has to offer.
The space
We have two Shepherd Huts totally private from each other with separate access .The huts are supplied with Luxury linens, cotton towels and bathrobes. Fully equipped bijou kitchen, induction hob, ceramic sink, microwave, fridge with ice compartment. Generous bathroom with spacious electric shower & heated towel rail. Luxurious Hypnos bed and mattress with plenty of storage. The hut offers a cosy interior with walls finished in dark blue tongue and groove paneling, an oak floor and contrasting white ceiling. Sumptuous Linwood fabrics have been used throughout on the windows and furniture. Double glazed hardwood doors and windows combined with electric thermostatically controlled heating ensure consistent comfort throughout the changing seasons. Outdoors, relax in the wood fired hot tub or sit around the fire pit sipping wine or enjoying mugs of hot chocolate whilst enjoying the wonderful views of the Teesdale countryside. we are a stone throw away from the railway walk that can take you to the neighbouring villages of Romaldkirk, or Middleton- in-Teesdale, or hop in the car and take a short drive to the picturesque market town of Barnard Castle.
Guest access
Cars can be parked approx 100 metres from the hut, access is from the B6277 along a private grass lane, waterproof footwear is recommended for pedestrian access during wet weather.

Secluded field near the head of a picturesque valley with far-reaching views. Perfect for bird watching, within easy reach of quiet forestry tracks which are ideal for cycling and walking. Enjoy after dark stargazing too. A quiet location but only a few miles inland from Scarborough. Four miles to the village of Ayton which has a convenience store, garage, chemist, fish and chip shop and restaurant as well as two popular pubs. The quaint village of Scalby is only a few miles away, and Dolby Forest with a variety of outdoor activities is also nearby.
Well behaved dogs are welcome. There is a fire pit available for those evenings around the camp fire, and barbecues are permitted.
Please note that facilities are limited. We are situated within the National Park and we ask that visitors respect their surroundings and take all their waste away when they leave.

The six ‘Langley Longboat’ cabins are positioned on the bank of Langley Dam Reservoir, providing exceptional views over the 14 acres of water and towards Whitfield moor. Langley Dam itself is a commercial fly fishery and Troutmaster water. Visitors are welcome, and encouraged, to enjoy the fishing experience that the water provides (charges do apply, but residents have discounted fishing fees). We also have rowing boats that can be hired for fishing purposes.

Defo coming back and would recommend. Great little Cafe/bar down the road, walkable distance for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus bonus they do both Guinness and Guinness zero!

Really well laid out site. Quite steep in places with rough ground but fine if you are mobile. Toilet and shower facilities are excellent, as is the wash up area with phone charging facilities and shared fridges.
Fantastic base to explore the area, right next to the Thurscross reservoir.

Really lovely stay, Michael and Natalie really went above and beyond for our stay. The pods are beautiful I really didn't want to leave! A lovely place to stay for camping with the kids, even with the midges :). The toilets were immaculate and plenty of shower rooms. We had a mix up with our pitch (i thought i had booked an electric pitch but it hadn't went through on hipcamp), the owner was brilliant and very accommodating. I wouldn't hesitate to book again if we are down that way.

Great directions from the host to this site. Well located with beautiful views towards Malham Cove and handy that there is a farm shop with cafe on site - great breakfast baps! Absolutely beautiful site, friendly people around us and the onsite pub food was amazing for one of the nights we visited (pie and gammon are 100% recommend). It was a quick drive from most places we had a day in barnard castle, and this is very pretty. Our dog loved his stay too everywhere we went was dog friendly, with plenty of dog walking spaces for him to run around. Our pod for 4 was very comfortable and picnic bench outside was ideal for breakfast cereal, bring your own cups bowls cutlery and plenty to keep kids busy we took board games and quizzes and he could watch YouTube on his phone. Glad there was a mini fridge kettle (for cuppas) and microwave (for popcorn) we left alcohol outside as it was cold enough overnight. I loved bird spotting on their fields too we will definitely book for the summer time

My daughter and I just returned from a 2 night stay. The accommodation, the view, the hospitality and the lovely little extra touches made us feel so welcome and exceeded all expectations. The accommodation was clean and bright and had everything we needed and more. Emma was a superb host and nothing was too much trouble. What an absolutely perfect getaway in the quiet, watching the sunrise and the sunset with the sounds of the birds, seeing the rabbits running around. Simply cannot recommend this place enough for couples or families.

What a gorgeous stay here! Stayed in the glencroft for two nights. I was able to ask Rich lots of questions before booking. The setting is beautiful and the pod even more so.
Lovely welcome basket and all you need is provided. You just need your food, a costume for the hot tub and you’re in for a perfect stay. I slept like a log for 2 nights and the weather made it even more perfect. There is plenty to do within 1 hour of the pods and we opted for 2 days of hiking so the hot tub was a welcome relief! The under floor heating is also fantastic. The shower was a little temperamental you couldn’t get a balance between hot and cold but if that’s a stretch to find anything to improve on. We came for my partners birthday and it was the perfect escape from reality we had such a lovely stay here and will definitely be back in the future! Couldn’t recommend this lovely establishment enough :)

Weekend Trip to Toadlands Shepherd Huts
Every detail of this stay was perfect - the clear directions, hot tub, views, wheel barrow for luggage transport and comfortable bed are just some of the highlights. We had an amazing stay in the most beautiful area and Jane was so helpful during our stay. Couldn’t recommend enough.
