With westerly views over the Trent Valley and in the shadows of a ruined 18th-century windmill, this is a peaceful and scenic place to take a break indeed…
Well-positioned too, with a generous handful of pubs, restaurants and cafés a scenic 35 minutes’ walk away in Gunthorpe alongside the river Trent. Radcliffe on Trent and Bingham are five minutes’ drive away for any other amenities you might (supermarkets, shops, restaurants, pubs and the likes). And if you’re after even more of a buzz, Nottingham city centre is 25 minutes’ drive away.
Even with such good access to so many towns and the big city, the site itself is remote. It has 10 acres of hay meadows and woodlands for guests to explore and, of course, sublime sunsets over the valley. If you prefer to keep your whole stay pretty rural, the Vale of Belvoir and the historic Belvoir Castle are 20 minutes’ drive away from the site.
It’s no frills here. The grass and woodland pitches have facilities including water and portaloo access. Dogs are also permitted, as are barbecues.

What a little Derbyshire gem: back to basics Whitehouse Farm Campsite is a simple site in a most scenic setting five minutes’ drive from the pretty village of Tideswell.
The site’s central location in the Peak District National Park means it’s a top spot for those who want to ramble or ride bikes – several circular trails leave from Tideswell and the traffic-free Monsal Trail is a five-minute drive away. And there’s plenty more activity if you require it too, as activity centres nearby can sort you out days of horse riding, abseiling, climbing and caving.
All this activity isn’t mandatory, of course – this is an equally fine location for days pottering off to local pubs, pigging out on pudding in Bakewell or taking a leisurely stroll around the Chatsworth Estate, 20 minutes away.
And if even that’s too much, you’d be welcome to spend some time loafing about on site: there’s heaps of space here, and as facilities have been kept quite minimal (just showers and toilets) there should be a good serving of peace and quiet to go with it all.
Guests are welcome to light up a barbecue or campfire for cookouts and keeping warm; Tideswell’s the place for supermarket supplies, and it’s also handily got a fish and chip shop and a couple of pubs for days when your firelighting skills aren't up to much.

I had a very nice time camping here. It was a bit busy when I showed up due to a bank holiday but it quietened down quickly after that and even when it was busy the facilities on site were more than adequate. I didn't need to queue to shower or use the loos.

We had an amazing weekend glamping experience at Sara’s site. Plenty of space, beautiful views and peaceful atmosphere. It was fully booked but it didn’t affect anything at all. In fact, we enjoyed chatting to our neighbours (all other 4 tents around us). All the facilities were well maintained during our stay. Sara was such a great host! She’s very patient and welcoming. Gave us a lovely introduction upon arrival and a lot of great recommendations regarding places to visit during our stay also popular restaurants to go around the area. We really enjoyed the pub she recommended. All the sightseeing was great too! We also met her daughter who’s a lovely gorgeous kind young lady and enjoyed chatting to her each time. All in all, we were very happy with our stay and would love to come back again. Thank you very much Sara for making our stay so amazing! Will definitely recommend to anyone who’s interested.

We absolutely loved this little gem! 🌿✨ Such a lovely glamping spot, perfectly located near lots of entertainment and activities for the children, making it a great base for a family getaway. To note the site does also offer hen and stag parties but there weren’t any there when we stayed.
The bell tents are basic but cosy, with soft furnishings and bedding provided. You will need to bring your own cooking and kitchen equipment, including a cooker, plates, knives, forks, utensils etc. There is a mini fridge in each tent, along with coffee and milk sachets, which was a lovely little touch.
There’s a communal fire pit and on site toilets and there are shops nearby 4 min drive too, which is really handy.
The camp is still under construction in some areas, but honestly, it didn’t put a downer on our stay at all. We still had a lovely time and really enjoyed the experience.
Overall, a lovely place for a fun family break we’d definitely recommend it! 🏕️

So much space! I like how the site has separate areas for families and social groups and then quieter areas for those looking for some peace and quiet. Good facilities, a little dated maybe but all clean and in good working order. Where else can you get a site with toilets and showers for £12 a night? I enjoyed my time there and as its only an hour away from home, I'll definitely be back!

We had such a fantastic time at this campsite. Was really lovely having the individual pitches and pizza on site. Facilities were also lovely and well thought out with extra touches. Really well equipped cooking facilities.
I don't know if it was because we booked through Hipcamp but we didn't really get any info before arrival and found it a bit tricky to locate our pitch as we couldn't locate the map of the campsite. But a very minor issue!

This was one of the nicest campsites I’ve stayed at. Beautiful views, proper toilets and shower blocks with hot water and enough that there was never a queue despite a full site on Saturday. There were also drinking water taps and sinks to do the washing up at. Plenty of walks nearby.
The only downside was some feral children in a neighbouring tent but that is no fault of the site managers, rather irresponsible parents that didn’t control their kids but unfortunately they seem to get everywhere!
10/10 on the site though. Would 100% stay here again.

Great location and loved the amount of privacy you get, as pitches are well separated. It was especially nice to be in the forest and a bit shaded, with the heatwave! Loved playing disc golf, Lee was great and really informative. We got two hole in ones!
Our only downside is that the toilets did get smelly/dirty within just a few hours. Creating a toilet block and having a shower on site might be something to consider in the future.

We went in our campervan last year and the camp had about 12 units. We’ve just returned from a few nights there over the weekend and was a little shocked at the sheer numbers on site. Manager said that they were expecting 120 to arrive on the Friday. Bearing in mind that no caravans are allowed, the majority were tents with a lot of children with no shower or toilets. 2 men’s toilets and 3 showers for that amount of people was clearly not enough and so queuing was a bit of an issue.
We left on the Monday as did a lot of the units and it was therefore tranquil again.
I would return but only midweek and out of school holidays.
