Scenic, spacious, and well-suited for families, Arthingworth Camping provides a pop-up campsite just for tents, in glorious Northamptonshire countryside. Affordable and back-to-basics, this six-acre riverbank spot is a haven for adventurers—cycle along the Brampton Valley Way, explore the eerie Kelmarsh Tunnel, and conclude your day with a two-minute stroll to the local pub.
The generous pitches ensure you and yours have enough room to relax and play games, and you can choose where to set up your tent—Sidom’s Ford River runs through the site, so you can pitch near its bank. Amenities are very basic—there's no hot water or showers—but you still have portaloos and even a lovely farm pantry providing locally sourced treats (pop in to pick up local honey, eggs, or firewood for your hireable firepit).
Remember to pack your walking boots to explore the various local routes; all handily signposted on a map provided by your Host, Eva. Arthingworth Camping is dog friendly, so it's a good place to wear out your four-legged friend too. Eva has set up a doggy station on camp to ensure your pooch is well-pampered with treats and a water bowl.
Further afield, drive out to the attractive nearby town of Market Harborough, voted one of the best places to live in the Midlands and a thriving hub of independent shops and handsome old buildings, or spend the day exploring Northampton.
NEW FOR 2024: A brand new composting toilet block!
Turn on your exploration mode… surrounded by walks in the Northamptonshire countryside and cycle paths down disused railway lines, you won’t be sitting around at Arthingworth Camping. Unless you want to, of course… after all, this family-friendly site is on the banks of a gentle river and there’s over six acres of spacious pitches for you to lounge around on.
This is a small, family-run back to basics camp site with super scenery, so there are no hot water or shower facilities. However, there are toilet facilities (Brand NEW for 2024) and cold drinking water to ready you for the countryside walks that start directly from the site.
Fire pits and BBQs are allowed as long as they are raised from the floor and we have dedicated paving slabs on each pitch. There are a very limited number of fire bowls to hire.
If you’re after something a little stronger, there’s a pub two minutes’ walk from the site and two more pubs and the Warner's Distillery a 30 minute stroll or five minutes’ drive away (the latter runs tours and tastings, if you fancy it).
Off-road cycling is also on the cards. It’s a five minute cycle to the Brampton Valley Way, a 14-mile car free route down a disused railway, with two atmospheric Victorian 500m long tunnels.
We love all well behaved dogs! We have a station set up for your furry friends including a water bowl, treats and dog bags. For the dog owners among you, there are also a number of road free dog walks starting from the camp we have provided a map on site with showing some of our favourites!
Please note:
On arrival, please park within the designated car park – we do not allow cars to drive to the pitches to help maintain our wild site and be truly family friendly. We have a number of off road trolleys and wheelbarrows available to use.
