Fancy some secluded downtime exploring rural coastal Suffolk? The tree-shaded pitches at Hill Farm are in a peaceful setting near the market towns of Saxmundham and Halesworth, and handily accessible from the A12, as well as to the coast and pretty villages, historical hamlets, and popular seaside towns, such as Southwold and Aldeburgh. This is a site that welcomes families and groups of friends, and it's dog-friendly too (there’s a 4-acre woodland to the north of the site that's great for dog walking). The site has good TV reception for relaxing indoors on damp or chilly days. The popular village of Westleton (10 minutes’ drive) has a village store, a farm shop, a garage and 2 pubs; and if you fancy a change from cooking, there is also a nice pub and a tearoom, in the Darsham village area (only 5 minutes drive or a 30 minute walk away through some lovely fields). Back on site, there are a toilet cabins with hot running water, plus other facilities including 4 showers, a portaloo, and a washing machine, grey waste and chemical toilet disposal and recycling points. Wi-fi is nearly all over the site too. The shared facilities at the top of the site also has a fridge and a washing up area, with a warm water tap, a nearby kettle and a plug socket for charging mobiles. Picnic tables, PIR lighting and Starlink wifi is also provided. Please not that dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, and yes campfires are allowed, as long as the fire pit is raised off the ground and the fire is supervised at all times, with a bucket of water at hand too. If it’s a ‘proper’ Suffolk wild-camping adventure you’re after, have a look at Lions Row, a spacious back‑to‑basics site on a working farm just outside Ufford. It’s completely surrounded by countryside, but only a handy five minutes’ drive (or a 35 walk) from the pubs, takeaways and shops in Wickham Market. You can park at the pitches, which are mown into the long grass. It’s a clever spot for families as it’s a mile from the nearest road, making it quiet and safe for kids to roam freely without any danger from traffic. As this is wild camping, facilities are minimal: drinking water, a simple washing-up sink, compost loos and basic gas-heated outdoor showers are your lot. However, you’ll wake up to birdsong every morning and go to sleep by starlight on clear nights; just remember to bring torches and batteries for after-dark wanderings. The views are peaceful and rural, and the field is bordered by deciduous woodland – great for exercising any four-legged pals – criss-crossed with footpaths leading to country pubs (there are four within half an hour’s walk). It’s also close to heritage attractions such as Sutton Hoo (10 minutes’ drive). If you would like to book multiple pitches for a big group, do get in touch directly if easier. I booked a couple of nights because I wanted a base as I wanted to try and get some photos of the local red deer...The hosts were so helpful especially as I'd forgotten my camping pots and pans and they were kind enough to lend me some...The site was beautiful and very atmospheric with owls hooting and buzzards flying overhead...All in all a great site which I'll definitely be using again...Oh and I eventually managed to find my red deer stag too...Many thanks....😊👍

Weekend Trip to Plum Camping at White House Farm

Had a lovely night at Plum Camping - our second stay there. We love how quiet and peaceful it is, and yet so close to Norwich. You can watch the planes coming out of / flying into Norwich Airport without any disturbance from the noise. Plenty of birds and wildlife to see and hear, and space to roam around in a lovely flat field, with wild patches to break it up. The facilities are rustic, as you'd expected from a camping farm, but they're clean and well-maintained, with everything you could want for a basic camping trip - properly hot showers, toilets, washing up facilities, fridge and freezer, charging area, fire pits and wood. We were meant to stay 2 nights but had to leave a night early as our son was taken ill. But I'm sure we'll be back another time!

I have nothing but good tbings to say about campung at hipcamp. The people running the camp were great; helpful and friendly. The fascilies were more than what anyone would need and maticulously cleaned every day. The surroumding area is a treat too with loads to see and do, for adults and kids alike. Be back soon but will he going for one of the other great looking accomodations they have on offer for a change. Thank you guys.

We had a fantastic time camping on Jaik’s land! He was so accommodating, friendly and helpful, and made us feel really welcome. It’s a quirky and unique little campsite, which we absolutely loved. It was also brilliant for the children — really child-friendly, and safe with plenty for them to explore and enjoy, and we felt completely comfortable having them there. We had such a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxed, family-friendly camping experience. We’ll absolutely be back! ⛺️🌿😊

Lovely little campsite, clean facilities and friendly hens! Small honesty shop, fridge and freezer available. Nice friendly pub within ten minutes walk. Great for a peaceful break. The only negative was no hand drier or paper towels available in the wash shed and could do with slightly better lighting in the toilets.

Weekend Trip to Goldcrest - Breakaway Camping

We stayed in Robins Nest. An 8 birth statistic caravan. The beds were all made up and lovely and clean. Lots of cushions in the lounge area to make yourself nice and comfortable. All the staff are very friendly and happy to help with anything. Even took the cover off the sun umbrella for us. There was a lovely family on the Medows in a tent who either waved or spoke while passing. This is our third time this year staying in the caravan. It’s peaceful, no tv programs but dvds are available to watch, along with bird songs and other animals to listen to. We hope to have a couple more weekends before it’s too cold to sit outside. We didn’t need the gas heating but needed and used the fan last time we went. Looking forward to next time

Lovely spacious peaceful pitches. Clean facilities, although you have to keep turning the shower off and on to get hot water. This didn’t really matter just had to get used to it. Lovely walks from the site. A super pub in Dilham village (The Cross Keys). We spent a day swimming and kayaking, launching from the Dilham Hall Retreat kayaking and paddleboard site. This is all part of the same estate so no charge to launch your own kayak. No noise after 10pm really works for us as does no music. A great little find.,

1 night at Hill Farm Secluded Camping

Simple and unpretentious site in a rural setting. The shower & toilet facilities are not the most up to date but they are clean and fully functional. Most pitches have water & mains hook up with hoses & cables available to use. A small wooded area is suitable for dog walking or for children to explore. There is a little bit of background traffic noise from the A12 but it is not intrusive. If you want mamucured lawns, a swimming pool & clubhouse this is not the site for you but we loved its quiet simplicity. Good value for money.
