Camping in Medway guide

Overview

If Kent is the "Garden of England," Medway would be its water garden. Set along the Medway River and the River Thames Estuary, this is a region best explored from the water. Admire the views on a paddle steamer cruise, enjoy scenic strolls or bike rides along the riverbanks, or explore the natural marshlands of the Hoo Peninsula. The region's rich history and literary heritage are on display in Rochester, Chatham, and Gillingham, where you’ll find mediaeval castles and Charles Dickens' childhood home. Summer is the most popular time for camping, while autumn brings migrating birds to the marshes.
