There is also a host of National Trust sites within a short drive including Sissinghurst Castle and many wonderful villages to visit including medieval Biddenden and the magical market town of Tenterden. Next to junction 8 of the M20 there is also Leeds Castle, only a 20 minute drive from Far and Away and the Big Cat Sanctuary is only a few fields away. At night you can hear the roar of the wild cats really making it feel like you are Far and Away!

Wildling Camp is in a tranquil location in East Sussex and is a campsite which can be rented for you and your group. Therefore perfect for private parties, retreats and special gatherings A space for those that are looking for the quiet life, and an opportunity to escape the stresses and strains of modern living off - grid with family and friends. A very safe environment for children and animals
Wildlings Camp is set on a beautiful piece of land with views over the downs. Look out for deer and badgers scampering across the field in the mornings and buzzards in the sky. And the inquisitive ducks who have moved in and follow you around. You have your own beautiful large field, perfect for games, picnics or to do yoga in the morning, perhaps up by the pond? It is set within 40 acres of a farm with rights of way leading in all directions
On the site there is a private indoor swimming pool in a magnificent 18th century converted barn, with a hot shower and toilet. It is heated to 32° which means on any grey wet days you have the back up of a lovely warm space and entertainment for the kids. This can be rented out on an hourly basis up to 10 guest per time.
Pricing is £150 per unit, and numbers are extendable and extra tent or campers allowed on request.
"Little Wildlings" is a smaller version of the main camp in the adjacent field. The option is available to supplement the main camp by adding "Little Wildlings" to your booking, (depending upon availability).
'Genie' is 3/4 berth 1990s Coachmen Genius caravan, decorated as an ode to David Bowie. cosy, comfy and with an RnR nod and lots of secret messages hidden throughout. A perfect spot for any Spaceman or a fun (static) ride for anyone else.
'Genie' has one cosy double made from 2 sofas, and a table, a large single/small double and a Childs bunk.
There is a kitchen with utensils, with fridge, hob and oven and a bathroom with (cold) shower and loo. "Lulu' can be used too for an extra shower and toilet but this is shared with the main camp.

Grab breakfast from the onsite Cadence Cafe, spend days exploring picturesque walking routes and evenings by the campfire. Arundel and Chichester are within 20 minutes drive.
A great base for exploring the South Downs and all that West Sussex has to offer. For events at Goodwood or for walkers and cyclists on the South Downs Way, the site is also an ideal spot for escaping the crowds.
There are 20 non electric grass pitches onsite, each welcoming tents only. Each pitch allows up to six guests, with plenty of space for tents and gazebos with no extra charges other than on a per-person basis. Unloading is allowed by the pitches with parking in the designated car park.
Wake up to fantastic rural views and grab a bite to eat from the onsite cafe, which also serves a delicious cup of coffee. Days can be spent enjoying long walks in beautiful open countryside, exploring the charming nearby towns and villages, or down by the coast, only 25 minutes away.
In the evenings, guests can cook up a BBQ or relax by the campfire.

Hunker down in a historic village, surrounded by vineyards, hilly countryside and some rather spectacular views. With Ditchling Camping as your base, you’ll be on track for rural bike rides or visiting Brighton and its busy coast 25 minutes’ drive away. That’s because this dog-friendly site is in Ditchling – a village in the splendid South Downs National Park and a rather excellent location for all sorts of days out.
Good news if the whole family is tagging along: there’s plenty to play with around the site, including an adventure trail through the woodlands, a swing tree and places for kids to fashion their own little dens.
The site is only a five-minute drive (or a 30-minute walk) from the traditional Jack and Jill windmills and the neighbouring family-run pub, which serves both grub and good ales. A vineyard is 15 minutes’ walk away from the site if you'd like to include a wine-tasting tour on your break. Otherwise, simply pedal along country lanes on the surrounding cycling routes (it’s easy enough to hire a bike locally).
On your route, you might want to stop by in characterful Ditchling, home to local craftspeople and winemakers. There’s a nice selection of independent shops here, plus cosy cafés and pubs that will serve you a good spread of Sussex food, all within a 5-minute walk.
Back on site, end the day with a cosy evening beside the fire-pits. The site facilities are nicely straightforward otherwise and include warm showers and a separate dishwashing area and of course our newly installed Composting Toilets.

The place to find all this is The Meadow at Waples Mill, an Essex farm site between Chelmsford and Dunmow (and about 15 minutes’ drive from both). This family-friendly site is handy for walks on the Essex Way and other local footpaths, and tractor and trailer rides around the farm are organised on alternate days to give guests a glimpse into agricultural life.
Activities complete for the day, it's time to chill out, and that should be easy here – all pitches have access to toilets and hot showers in a trailer close by, and firepits are provided so you can have a safe campfire (with wood available to buy on site and a great farm shop 10 minutes’ drive away for fireside snacks).
Pitches themselves are large (please note only one tent per pitch is allowed), well kept and well spaced within a meadow that backs onto the River Roding. Dogs are welcome, and there are plenty of places to take them for a walk nearby.
London folk looking for a quick escape to the countryside, this is a place to bear in mind – it’s only about an hour and quarter by road from the city.

I stayed at this campsite one night, and overall, it was a really peaceful experience. The site is quiet and truly gives you that immersive outdoor feeling—you really feel like you’re out in nature. You can hear birdsong all around, and there’s no traffic or city noise—just calm. The facilities were also very different; the toilets, in particular, were compost toilets—no smells at all, was a different experience. My only minor downside is that the field itself is pretty steep—so if you’re not a fan of inclines, that might be a concern. But aside from that, it’s a fantastic spot for a quiet night under the stars.

We stayed two nights in our tent and loved the peaceful surroundings and beautiful nature. The campsite was very spacious, and the toilets were strategically located so you didn't have to walk far. The same went for the water taps. Finding a flat surface was definitely a challenge, as the whole field is more or less on a slope, which we had expected in advance. The owners/camp staff were very friendly and helpful, and other visitors to the campsite were considerate and quiet after dark. We didn't know it was a 'music-free' campsite, but we didn't mind that at all, and we enjoyed the sounds of nature instead. The showers were a bit of a walk, but they were spacious and had hot water. We also loved that bonfires were allowed and that you could buy logs, kindling, and fire starters on site. The 2 pm check-out time was perfect, as we could enjoy our morning and leave without a rush. We also heard The Cat Inn, which is nearby, has delicious food, but you have to book in advance, which we didn't, so we will need to check it out next time. We will definitely be back!

We love this place and have come here every year for the past 4 years. This time, we came with a group of friends and while some of us did glamping (which they said were amazing), my family stayed in our tent. The grounds were dry but not hard, and flat. It rained while we were camping but drainage must be good as it did not get muddy. Our kids enjoyed playing badminton (there's a net erected), swinging in the hammock, looking at the chickens and going up the tree house. The toilets are clean and there are hot showers! Alexandra is a great host, and responds quickly to queries. I love this place as it is not prescriptive (no grids as boundaries for your tent), not built up with concrete (wooden cubicles for toilets and showers), and that there are no cars driving through the campsite so no worries about our kids running around. It has such a lovely vibe. The noisiest thing at night were the nightingales!

Fleets Paddock is a peaceful rural idyll within easy reach of Canterbury as well as the beaches of Margate, Whitstable and Herne Bay. The setting is perfect - especially with younger children. There is a badminton net, clean flush toilets and an open air hot shower. We stayed in the Bell Tent this year which I can't recommend enough. Thank you to Alexandra for her care and attention.

My 5 year old and I had a great time camping at The Barn KT9. Getting there and setting up was easy, with clear directions. The nearby cafe, woods, and pub were easy walks away. The site was quiet late at night, and having our own firepit and BBQ was a real bonus, as well as real flushing loos. Would recommend as an easily accessible (from London) campsite. Could do with slightly better ground underfoot for walking and running around.

We were on the valley view pitch which was large and had a great view. It wasn’t too far from the carpark too which was nice. It was also very secluded so we hardly saw any other campers - felt like our own private site! Toilets and showers were clean, the bucket showers were a bit of a novelty. Shop had all the things you forget and the staff were friendly. Wheelbarrows were massive and plentiful.
