Pets are welcome, however, we have chickens and 1 dog on our property, so your pets must be leashed, and we respectfully ask you to pick up after your animals. There is one outhouse on the property, a picnic table and BBQ (BBQ at your request) for your use. The campsite is on a grassy surface. There are no hookups, and generators are not allowed. Firewood is available from neighbors close by. Another feature of this campsite is, LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The site is private, you will be the only campers for the nights that you book :) We are close to everything!!! 10 minutes from WELLAND 10 minutes from PORT COLBOURNE 15 minutes from NIAGARA FALLS 20 min from the PEACE BRIDGE (International border for Canada/US) 20 minutes from CRYSTAL BEACH and RIDGEWAY 20 minutes from Sherkston Shores. 25 minutes from ST. Like most folks who’ve been bitten by the water ski bug, I dreamed of having my own lake and when I met my life partner Harald, an elite slalom skier, my search began in earnest. By a combination of good timing and good luck, I was able to make that dream come true and in the spring of 2014 I acquired this land with the hopes of building my dream water ski lake on it. 7 years later, we have a thriving water ski club and are constantly making improvements to the site. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community. Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie. Onsite activities include use of a canoe and paddleboard. It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford. O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes. By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door. It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much. Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing. A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’? ‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day. Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three. Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention. People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’. Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy. Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it. Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two. In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’! After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was and the rest is history.

We had a wonderful stay! The sunrise site is very private and spacious, with a beautiful view overlooking a huge open grass field. It’s such a peaceful spot to relax and enjoy nature. Karen was super friendly and welcoming! She gave us an informative tour of the property, let us interact with the animals, and shared some great recommendations for local places to visit. One thing worth mentioning for anyone particular about washrooms: the toilet is a portable flushing toilet. It was well-maintained and clean, so we had no issues with it. Overall, a lovely camping experience. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend The Farm!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend at Barry and Monica‘s property. It’s a perfect location for our three small kids. There are so many activities to do within walking distance. Every amenity available, including a trailer washroom. We will definitely be back! Thanks Barry and Monica.

Oh my gosh! This is an 8 out of 5 stars! I took my 11 granddaughter there for a surprise overnight girls trip! Giselle greeted us as if we were family! The cabin & it's amenities were immaculate and over the top! I am usually a tent camper kind of gal, but damn! Quiet, close to the beach, and surprisingly private. Will go back again and tell everyone how great it is!

Barry was very responsive, the spot was nice, and the amenities we needed were available. Pros: Quiet (no traffic noise, barking dogs, or unruly children) Grass surface was nice Only 40 minutes to Niagara Falls Flush toilet and sink for hand washing worked well and was clean Firepit with wood to purchase 30amp power plug, pottable water, & sewer dump worked, but... Had campsite to ourselves, but... Cons: For our trailer setup, the hookups weren't convenient, but we had enough extra 30amp cord and water hose to make it work. Being from Texas, we did feel a little bit like we were camping in the neighbor's backyard. Overall, a good 1st Hipcamp experience from the camping experience. (the $30.28 Hipcamp fee, 18.35%, seemed high, but our understanding is that's not within the host's control. And, the 13% occupancy fee was unexpected - why can't this be shown prior to clicking reserve? By the time we had done research to find a spot that evening, we booked it. Not sure we'll use Hipcamp again though because service fee, service fee tax, and occupancy tax took what we thought was $165 to $220.67).

Was our favorite Hipcamp site yet! My wife, me and our faithful poodle Leo all agree that the site is quiet, well equipped, peaceful, easy access to hookups, private, clean, close to lots of activities, great hiking, water a short walk away. I almost don't want to tell you all so we can keep this to ourselves ;) but they're also great hosts so i hope you get to go there and enjoy it like we did. we have a 18' travel trailer and will definitely go again.

Weekend Trip to Goats and Gardens

I absolutely loved my stay at Goats and Gardens. Greg and Barb were both incredibly welcoming, responsive and accommodating, and made me feel right at home. My little room was cozy and quaint, with a mini fridge and microwave, and I especially loved having my own private deck overlooking the pasture. Finding fresh cherry tomatoes waiting for me in my room when I arrived was such a lovely touch. There are so many wonderful little spaces around the property. The cabin is incredibly cozy and a great place to curl up with a book or just hang out. There’s a bench by the pond, an outdoor shower, and a lovely little outdoor kitchen where you can prepare your meals. The farm itself was a big part of what made my stay so special. Greg showed me around the farm, gardens and animals. I got to hold a chick and pet the goats, and I loved the little updates about what was happening around the farm, including the chicks being born. I’ll have to go back just to learn more about their water system, which looked fascinating! Greg was very thoughtful about letting me know beforehand that this isn’t a secluded retreat—it’s a working property and a place where people live their everyday lives. You may hear family and friends, people working or doing chores, animals, neighbours, cars and trains. I really appreciated knowing that beforehand. What I discovered, though, is that it doesn’t have to be one or the other. The sounds of everyday life and the peacefulness of the country can coexist. In fact, the sounds of family, friends and people working around the property made me smile—happy sounds of people being together and simply living their lives. I could hear life happening around me and still sit on my private deck overlooking the pasture and feel peaceful, safe and grounded. For me, that was part of what made Goats and Gardens so special. It really was the best of both worlds—connected to the life happening around me while still surrounded by the beauty, warmth and grounding experience of the country. I happened to arrive during a particularly difficult time in my life, and this little corner of the world turned out to be a very special place to be. It’s a wonderful place to take a break from life for a little while, and I will definitely be back. I’m already planning to talk to my grandchildren about coming back to camp here together next year. Thank you, Greg and Barb, for creating such a special place and for making me feel so welcome.
