There is one outhouse on the property near the lake access that is to be shared with all campers. There are walking trails to respectfully explore and enjoy local flora and fauna. On clear nights the starry vistas will unfold in the Dark Sky Preserve here on the Bruce Peninsula. The lakefront has a picnic table to enjoy a meal at (no fire pit). You can push off from the shoreline with your kayaks or canoes (bring your own) to explore “The Fens” of Mountain Lake. The lake is NOT suitable for swimming, it has a marl bottom that you will sink into. There is no potable water, please bring your own for drinking and cooking. There are some nice beaches suitable for swimming within a 15-20 minute drive. Sauble Beach is best for a swim and to watch the sunset from. We are located 10 minutes from Wiarton, 20 minutes from Sauble Beach and 1 hour from Tobermory. We have approximately 10 acres of forested land, with a 2-4 person off the grid bunkie (built in 2021) on a pond. Unfortunately, the pond is not suitable for swimming or fishing. There is an outdoor shower and outhouse available (please see the photos) We also have parking and shore power (30 amp) suitable for most RVs. We are 10 minutes from Lake Huron and the most beautiful sunsets in the world.

Very close to all the great stuff available at this part of Bruce peninsula. We share our backyard with our guests, we are very close to everything that Bruce county has to offer, port Elgin, Southampton, golf courses, different accesses to saugeen river where u can go fishing canoeing, tubing etc., supermarkets, native reserve, sauble beach and dozens of other ones…all at max 15 minutes distance… in the property you will find everything u need for a peaceful stay, hard to describe everything you will find but u can read our reviews, some of them have beautiful descriptions of what is here for you, you must love animals, since we have our pets all around, u are also super welcome to bring yours. One of the high points of here is the interaction u will have with the pets, they are all super friendly and will play with u every time they see u, they believe u r here for them, between, dogs, cats, birds, rabbits etc they will be part of your stay, this is theyr home, u r theyr guests, that’s how they think, so u must be a pet lover. There are two campsites on the property, both just a short drive from two local beaches. Bass Road Beach is a rocky beach with deep water, while Silversides Point Road Beach offers a sandy shoreline with shallow water that gradually deepens. There's also a public boat launch across the road from my house—it's the next driveway up. Inner Woods Site To access this site, park on the right side of my driveway and follow the trail for about 2 minutes. The site is fairly spacious and includes tables, chairs, a fire pit (I have a burn permit—just let me know if you'd like to use it!), a portable camp toilet, a camp shower, a tent, and screened hammocks (available throughout the summer if you'd like to use them). The surrounding area is somewhat marshy, so be sure to bring bug spray. Turtle Pond Nest Site To access this site, park on the other side of my property, just past the Brakenfor Turtles sign and before my main driveway at 156. The site includes a fire pit (burn permit available—just let me know!), a tent area, and overlooks a peaceful turtle pond. This site backs onto a swamp, so bug spray is highly recommended. It's suitable for a small RV, but please note that there are no septic hookups. I may be able to provide electricity depending on the extension cord needed. Water is available from a hose, and it's about a 2-minute walk from my driveway to the site. I live on the property and am happy to help with anything you need. You can charge your devices at my house, and I can run a hose close to either campsite if you need water. I'm also very familiar with the area and can recommend great hikes, help you book time at the national park, and share other local tips. Just ask! I look forward to welcoming you!

A quiet comfy bunkie perfect for “glamping” on the gorgeous main beach in Southampton. 100m from the tennis club, short walk to uptown, with its many dining spots, and to the ice-cream shop! Stunning sunsets - best in the world! Perfect for one or two people, there is a double bed, a single (which can be set up as a daybed for lounging) and a single bunk above the double bed. Lounge chairs on the sand and Muskoka chairs around the firepit (burning a fire is dependant on the town’s rules), and an outdoor dining table. The bunkie is bright and spacious, and steps from the public washroom and parking lot. There are no indoor cooking facilities guaranteed, although we are laid back, friendly people and so just ask! We also have a bbq and outdoor tap. This is a novel situation good for inexpensive short term rentals in an otherwise expensive town without public campgrounds. Looking for quiet friendly renters. Why sleep in a van or tent when you can have a bed in a bunkie with a fridge and a fan!?

Learn more about this land: !!!!!!ONLY area A is still available to camp on!!!! The land is framed by the historic Bruce Trail to the north, Billy Bishop airport (only a few small prop-private flights daily) to the west, Concession 6 N on the East, and Highway 26 on the south end of the property.   There is a forest on the north end of our land where the bruce trail runs through (C) and the farm sits more to the south end (A). There's a pine-forest that one has to hike into (B- see map in photos). Generally, the area is close to swimming in Lake Huron, the property is large (100 hectares) and the neighborhood is large grain. This means you can have a chunk of the forest all to yourself. For area A you can drive in the main driveway and park by the house/ barn or on the field. Or walk to a camping spot. No 4 wheel drive is necessary. Please stay away from the Barn as it is dangerous to be close by.  For area C you can access the fields from Concession 6 N at one of the gates past (North) of the driveway. You will need a 4-wheel drive to not get stuck in the field. Please do not park on the agricultural field.  For area B You will park your car behind a gate right off Highway 26 and hike in to find a site to pitch a tent. There are about 3 spots for cars behind the first set of Pines. You might need a 4-wheel drive.  It's completely up to you where you set up camp. We ask that you do not light any open fires as this is a coniferous forest. Feel free to walk in as far you want to find your spot. If you walk too far you will come up to a field and the farmhouse. We ask that you do not camp on the agricultural fields.

Great camping spot in a quiet neighborhood. It felt very private even though we were parked close to the road in our van. Solid ground for parking area. Happened to stay while the fireflies and dragonflies were on full display. We even had the cutest green heron stop by at sunset and sunrise. Be prepared for mosquitoes as it is a beautiful natural area on a wetland.

Weekend Trip to Time at the Shores

We had a wonderful stay and would happily return. The site felt private and peaceful, with beautiful views over the surrounding fields and some incredible sunsets. The bunkie was clean, comfortable, and exactly as described. Having a fridge, climate control, and access to the hot tub made the stay especially enjoyable. Pedro was a friendly and responsive host. When we asked about the hot tub temperature, he adjusted it for us quickly. Firewood was provided, which made relaxing around the campfire easy. The location was close enough to Port Elgin for coffee, breakfast, and exploring local shops, while still feeling like a quiet escape from everyday life. It was windy when we arrived, but once things settled down, we enjoyed a campfire, stargazing, and a long soak in the hot tub. Overall, a great spot for a relaxing weekend away.

This is certainly a nice private area hidden away from everyone. I never saw anyone the entire time I was there which is what I was looking for. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate at all while I was there so I didn’t get to explore much beyond the campsite. My hosts were responsive to my questions and have a nice area laid out for camping. One very important thing to note is their location next to a military base. Maybe I just had poor timing but the time I was there had a whole lot of automatic weapons fire as well as loud explosions. Perhaps this doesn’t occur very often but I experienced it and people with noise sensitivity, like myself, would best be aware of the possibility.

Staying at Pedro’s felt like an exclusive adult backyard “cabin out.” Pedro’s hospitality was second to none. We felt right at home from the moment of our arrival. The cabin is perfect for unplugging with the comforts of electricity, light, mini fridge, heater & A.C. The outdoor shower and toilet we’re a highlight - again well equipped and clean. Having access to the outdoor BBQ & Grill over the fire made for some yummy dinners. Ask Pedro where to get the best meat in the area. Who isn’t a fan of a hot tub under the stars and twinkle lights. A relaxing perk that was used every evening we were there. Behind the cabin offers two muskoka chairs tucked in the trees overlooking a field where you can catch a beautiful sunset. There are chickens and an array of other animals that were also cool to visit. Saugeen River Access #3 is a short drive away as well as another access point just down the road. Don’t sleep on this sweet little piece of paradise, with Port Elgin only 10 mins away there is so much to do in this beautiful area. Can’t wait to return.
