We have grown up in the area and know it very well and hope you enjoy your time! The campsites are fairly private, but still close to all of the amenities that we offer. We have recently added a 10 minute nature walk through the trees, this will include locations to sit and rest, as well as the ability to get some shade while soaking in all sounds and beauty of your surroundings. Lac Ste. Anne is only a 15-minute drive from our property where you can enjoy swimming, hiking, biking, and so much more! Had a great time here very peaceful and a very beautiful place. Sauna was very nice and hosts were very accommodating. Loved going on the tour of the property on the atv and learning about the property and the home. The bed was comfy and dome was peaceful. Was under fire ban but they provided us with a propane fire and we were able to roast some smores after our sauna session. Would recommend and would go back.

Weekend Trip to Hidden Springs Retreat & Guesthouse

Barb, the Host, made us feel so very welcome. We felt a real connection to her, even though we did not interact overly much. Fox, one of her dogs, will make you feel even more welcome. So well behaved and mildly loving. Our nights were 0 to -2 Celsius, yet the blankets and tent were wildly cozy and secure. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back. A few things to know. Make sure you bring everything you need to get by. We were the first visitors of the year, so I suspect there may be some great to have amenities in later weeks. Ensure you bring a stove, all food you need, and so on. Barb provides firewood and it’s incredibly dry and burns wonderfully. So that all good. Be forewarned that there is no shower (but she welcomed us to shower in her home) or running water (again, she had that on hand I’d needed), and it can get damned cold (cannot overstate how warm and comfy the beds were and slept like a baby in the cold) but a blessing in the warmth of the bedding. Very reasonable pricing. I encourage you to give it a go. We definitely will visit Barb again, even if to just say hi because she is that kinda person.

I love everything here! Carmen is very accommodating! It was cold during my stay but she provided extra comfy blankets. I like that she has a fire table as well, since it's kinda windy to use the fire pit. There's enough water - about 5 gallon, barbecue grill, some cooking equipment and plates. The view from the cabin is fantastic! I would stay here longer next time. 😊 Thank you, Carmen. You are awesome!

1 night at EWC Retreat Space

I truly can’t put into words how lovely Jana’s place was. From the moment we arrived, she welcomed us with open arms, with the wood-fired sauna and hot tub ready for us. She even took us on a UTV tour of her land, sharing stories about the wildlife that passes through. The dome itself was perfect Jana has thought of everything. The bed was incredibly cosy, the décor was beautiful, and snacks and water were waiting for us after a long day. There’s even a little surprise as the morning sun hits the windows just right. Because of the fire ban, Jana sent us lots of dinner ideas. We made our own charcuterie board, which was romantic and perfect. The sauna and tub were amazing. The sauna overlooks the woods through a glass window, and she provides sauna caps and towels. The tub wasn’t piping hot all the way through, but honestly it felt perfect after the sauna. For $25 CAD, Jana brought us a homemade breakfast by UTV the next morning. It was fresh, delicious, and both Jana and her husband were so accommodating with my dairy-free and gluten-free needs. As a city girl, I rarely fully disconnect, but this off-grid space made me want to. With hammocks, battery-powered lights, and even a propane fire during the ban, everything felt so thoughtful. We even woke up to a newborn foal, which felt magical. We did a breath work and sound session as well with Jana. Jana’s space is truly healing, restorative, and unforgettable. Disconnect, relax, and soak it all in under the stars.

We had an amazing camping experience at Creek Edge! The family running the place is incredibly friendly and helpful. One of the best parts was having constant electricity throughout our stay, which made everything so much easier. We especially fell in love with their pets—spending time with their dogs and cats was such a joy! If you’re looking for a welcoming, animal-friendly, and peaceful spot near Spruce Grove, this is it. Highly recommended!

We absolutely loved our stay in the microcabin. We stayed in winter and got the privellege of seeing a beautiful snowy landscape, getting cozy by the fire (inside and outside). Not only was the facillity beautifly maintained with everything we needed to cook amazing meals over the fire, great insulation and activities and books for our leasure. The hosts are absolutely amzing, helping us with any questions and concerns and sharing how they are being sustainable and supporting the local community. The sheep tour was well worth it aswell if you are a fellow animal lover. The property offers a beutiful walking trail that had me and my partner in awe. We will be back to experience the beauty in other seasons!

The added touches to this stay made it a perfect romantic weekend getaway. The old woodfire place that was perfect to cook in, the decorative wall hangings, the added extra coffees and hot chocolates, all the plates and silverware you will need. The outdoor fire pit, the picnic table underneath decorative lights. It was a magical weekend for two adults and a pup. Only a short drive outside of Edmonton and easy to find. ( 1 hour ) Highly recommend and look forward to going back.

Weekend Trip to Experience a Stay at Go Hard Ranch

Arriving on this land, I felt a sense of peace roll through me. My girlfriends and I stayed in the Tipi. It was magical. The grounds are immaculately kept. We were very spoiled with the washroom facilities as well as the outdoor kitchen. The beds were extremely comfortable with soft linen and warm blankets. The host did not miss any details to help us feel comfortable and met all of our amenity needs. The sunrise and sunsets were beautifully held on the horizon. Nature was all around us, including the cows and beautiful majestic white bull. All of the gardens and flower beds held details and surprises. Dragonflies were everywhere! A short distance away, we visited Chip Lake. Here we were able to have a drumming ceremony as well as enjoy some paddle boarding. The water was not conducive to us swimming in it, as it is shallow and appears to have a vast ecosystem. We did travel 30 minutes up the highway to the Pambina river and enjoyed a refreshing cool off. I would highly recommend visiting this site. I have full intentions of gathering my whole tribe of friends for a full weekend next year.

About

Just an hour outside of Edmonton, Wabamun Lake Provincial Park is a sought-after retreat from the city’s summer heat. The park’s family-friendly beach offers sandy areas for towel lounging and grassy areas for afternoon picnics. Cool off with a dip or explore the lake by boat. After a morning on the water, take a stroll along the boardwalk or get the binoculars out and enjoy some birding. Kids will have a blast at the playground, located near the edge of the water. Within the park, the sole Wabamun Lake Campground has more than 270 shady sites, including unserviced and power sites.

Tips for snagging a campsite

Wabamun Lake Campground is open from May until early September.
All campsites require a reservation, which can be hard to come by during peak summer months. For the best chance at a spot, book weeks in advance or plan a trip in May or September, when the park is quieter.
If you can't snag a reservation, consider staying outside the park nearby.

When to go

The crowds can be a bit overwhelming, but the true gem of Wabamun Lake Provincial Park is the beach on a hot day. Get to the shore early, throw down your towel and claim your spot. The quaint village of Wabamun also hosts several summer events, including its annual Dragonfly Festival.

Know before you go

Wabamun Lake Campground is a short walk from the Wabamun village, where you’ll find cafes, grocery stores, a marina, and a spray park. From the campground, follow the old service road, which is closed to cars, for about 20 minutes.
The park's beach area is accessible to anyone—not just campers—which can make parking a bit of a hassle. Skip the parking wars by walking, biking, or have someone from your crew do a shuttle run. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the beach from the campground.
Sick of doing the doggy paddle, but still want to be on the lake? Boat and SUP board rentals can be found right on the lake.
