Creek's Edge

34km from Wabamun Lake Provincial Park · 8 sites · Tents, RVs, Lodging · Spruce Grove, AB
This property was part of a large tree farm that was owned and operated by a well-respected and well-known family in the community. The family subdivided the land before selling the property. The beauty and serenity - and the variety of trees - still exists to this day. Learn more about this land:This cozy, private, and peaceful spot is shaded by mature spruce and pine next to a ravine leading down to a small creek and more than 3 kilometres of hiking/snowshoe trails that meander through the forest and along the creek. Frisbees and horseshoes are available for guests' use. Soak in the peaceful environment and relax in our hammocks or chairs. Two friendly dogs and two friendly cats live on the property and are sure to give you a warm welcome, just as their owners will. Less than 10 min away are lakes and environmental reserves for paddling and fishing, hiking and bicycling, and geocaching. Local amenities (shopping, recreation, banking, groceries) are less than a 10-minutes drive away. Although this property is located not far from major urban centres, with convenient access to major routes to and from Edmonton, Spruce Grove, and Stony Plain,  you will feel miles from civilization, thanks to the abundance of trees, privacy and the serenity of the place. It's the best of both worlds! Rest and rejuvenate in your forested campsite without having to travel to the boonies to do so!We want to share our peaceful, serene, and beautiful property with those who can respect our pristine environment.

The best camping in Wabamun Lake Provincial Park, AB guide

Overview

About

Just an hour outside of Edmonton, Wabamun Lake Provincial Park is a sought-after retreat from the city’s summer heat. The park’s family-friendly beach offers sandy areas for towel lounging and grassy areas for afternoon picnics. Cool off with a dip or explore the lake by boat. After a morning on the water, take a stroll along the boardwalk or get the binoculars out and enjoy some birding. Kids will have a blast at the playground, located near the edge of the water. Within the park, the sole Wabamun Lake Campground has more than 270 shady sites, including unserviced and power sites.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Wabamun Lake Campground is open from May until early September.
  2. All campsites require a reservation, which can be hard to come by during peak summer months. For the best chance at a spot, book weeks in advance or plan a trip in May or September, when the park is quieter.
  3. If you can't snag a reservation, consider staying outside the park nearby.

When to go

The crowds can be a bit overwhelming, but the true gem of Wabamun Lake Provincial Park is the beach on a hot day. Get to the shore early, throw down your towel and claim your spot. The quaint village of Wabamun also hosts several summer events, including its annual Dragonfly Festival.

Know before you go

  • Wabamun Lake Campground is a short walk from the Wabamun village, where you’ll find cafes, grocery stores, a marina, and a spray park. From the campground, follow the old service road, which is closed to cars, for about 20 minutes.
  • The park's beach area is accessible to anyone—not just campers—which can make parking a bit of a hassle. Skip the parking wars by walking, biking, or have someone from your crew do a shuttle run. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the beach from the campground.
  • Sick of doing the doggy paddle, but still want to be on the lake? Boat and SUP board rentals can be found right on the lake.
