Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Double Island Point adventure.
Getting there is half the fun, but don’t worry—you won’t need a boat.
Sandy shores, rocky coastal hikes, and surf-worthy waves make Double Island Point a rewarding (off-) road trip for campers in the Great Sandy National Park. The “island” is actually a sandy headland jutting out into the Coral Sea between Rainbow Beach and Cooloola. Either jump in a 4WD and head out along the Cooloola Beach Drive between Noosa North Shore and Rainbow Beach, or set out from Rainbow Beach to hike the full-day Double Island Point Walk. Spectacular views await at the historic Double Island Point Lighthouse, while the beaches offer the chance to surf, sea kayak, and spot bottlenose dolphins and humpback whales along the coast. For easy access to Double Island Point, pitch your tent or park your caravan or motorhome at the Cooloola Recreation Area campground, or check into a nearby Hipcamp.
