The site boasts four sites: Riverfront 1, Riverside 2, Bayside 3, Bayfront 4, all of which overlook the tranquil and lovely Chateauguay River. Great for a stop-over to sleep on my drive from Toronto to the Maritmes. Stephan was kind and welcoming. Location without address could be a bit confusing but the Google coordinates were exactly correct — just look for the bus camper parked in the drive.

We just needed a place to stay the night on our road trip out east and this was perfect. We used the coordinates to find the place and it took us straight there, no issues locating it, even in the dark. Lots of space to exercise your dog if needed. Stephan was very responsive and helpful! Just sad we didn’t see the pig! We would stay again.

This was an excellent campsite for me though a little hard to find (needs to publish the street address). Stephan was an excellent host who came out to find me as I tried to locate his property. I could sometimes hear trains at night bit at least they did not sound their whistles.

Victor was an amazing host! Always there if we had any questions, very welcoming. Give us a tour when we arrived, his wife Julia cooked us a typical Ukrainian rabbit stew which was excellent. Would definitely come back!

Stéphan’s land was great! He was very welcoming even though we were quite late arriving. Our French is terrible, but we muddled through enough. This would be a good site for a camper too, we just slept in our car for a quick rest.

My sister and I had a wonderful time! Granted it was incredibly hot, but the cool swimming pond fixed that during the day and the fan in the cabin eased the heat at night. The cabin had a BBQ, camp stove, and firepit. Plates, utensils, kettle, cups, mini fridge, etc. Even the composting toilet was conveniently next to the cabin with motion sensor lighting. No stumbling around in the dark at night. You can't park at your cabin but the owner will cheerfully haul you and your gear to it, in his zippy UTV. There are also some gorgeous big dogs that roam freely around the forest grounds. If they see you, they may pop up for a quick pat, then mosey on their way. It was enchanting.

When to go

A year-round destination, Mirabel is a great place to visit whatever the season, depending on what it is you're looking to do. Sub-zero temperatures mean Quebec winter camping is primarily for adventurous campers, though many parks offer both winter sites and rustic cabins. Summer camping in Mirabel can be a very cost-effective way to stay close to Montreal at a fraction of the cost of staying in the city proper.

Know before you go

There are tons of places to charge electric vehicles in and around Mirabel.
Public transit can get visitors around, but life will be a lot easier and cheaper with your own car or campervan.
Mirabel's outlet mall has a North Face store for those who might want to pick up camping bargains. A number of outdoor outfitters are also in the area.
Most people in Montreal speak English well, but it won’t hurt to have a translation app handy on your phone.
