A hidden country gem on the river! 2 hrs from downtown Ottawa, you'll find our beloved little off grid style cabin sandwiched between a pine forest and a clean healthy river on 6 acres of beautiful diverse natural land.
We have the best (one of the only) swimming spots along the river, like a natural pool, with old time swimming hole vibes, sandy beach and views of the forest hill in the distance and charming railway tie bridge. There are several kayaks available for guest use.
The swimming and cabin area face south with all day full sun on clear days for the sunbathers. For the shade lovers, the property has a beautiful shady pine forest with an outdoor shaded screened in kitchen and tent platform for extra guests. You'll find a few hammocks in various areas of the property as well as a renovated skoolie with large deck for extra sleeping quarters and camp style fun. In total there are 3 fire pits on the property so you'll have your pick of your favourite spot and view at different times of the day when fire bans allow.
There are deer, rabbits, foxes, porcupines, birds of all kinds and sizes, butterflies, squirrels, and you may even see a lonely beaver quietly swim by after dusk and hear the howling of wolves in the distant hills while you're roasting your marshmallows on the campfire.
If you love camping, but need a break from packing all the gear, our cabin will be a welcome change of pace. You'll have a soft queen sized bed, games, puzzles, books, futon & sofabed, and simple kitchen set up, with propane powered camp stove all while still being immersed in nature with lots of privacy. If you're new to camp style vacationing, but want to try something similar, you won't have to go without the comfort of a real bed, and you'll have the safety and coziness of the cabin when it rains. In the winter the wood stove keeps the cabin toasty.
Besides our own 6acres, there are many gorgeous trails within a 30min drive from the cabin that make for great day trips and showcase the natural beauty of the area. If you enjoy taking drives in the country, you'll come across many scenic tiny villages, farms, casse-croutes/chip trucks, lakes, hiking trails, rapids and covered bridges. Welcome to Yūgen Yurt, a peaceful retreat tucked away in a quiet natural setting where comfort, simplicity, and the mystery of life intertwine. Named after the Japanese word yūgen, which speaks to the subtle, profound beauty of existence, this unique round dwelling invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself and the land.
Whether you're seeking stillness, inspiration, or a digital detox, the yurt is a nurturing space for reflection, rest, and soul-centred living.

A wood stove for warmth and ambiance (seasonal use)

The yurt is intentionally unplugged from wifi to support inner quiet and reconnection with nature. If, however, you really want wifi as part of your rental, just let us know! We admit that outdoor movies projected onto the yurt are super fun too!

Just up the road: a dog park, tennis courts, playground, volleyball/badminton net, and a Saturday farmers market (summer months only)
Please note: Swimming in the pond is at your own risk and not supervised. Life jackets must be worn when kayaking.

Dogs are welcome with prior approval. Please keep them leashed and supervised at all times. Guests are responsible for cleaning up after pets. A lovely off-leash dog park is just minutes away!

Weekend Trip to Meech Creek Falls
Neil has a great place 30 minutes away from Gatineau! U get plenty of privacy on his property. We've enjoyed the sound of the water crrek at night. There is a wood heater inside the tent so the temperature was not too cold in mid october. There is a grocery store 5 min from the camp.... Very convinient. Would recommend!

Amazing location! The sound of the rushing waterfall is mesmerizing and melts away stress. The location is so amazing it counteracts some of the downsides of the campground. As it is newly opened these may just be growing pains. Please note there is no room for large tents. We have a tiny 2 person Marmot and were still unable to find a flat setup location.

We loved this property so much! It’s stunningly beautiful with amazing water access on the river and a lake. The amenities made camping easy: fire ring at the tent site, toilets, trash & recycling containers, plus the kayak & paddle boards available to rent. We saw deer, an ancient looking tortoise in the water, all kinds of birds, frogs, and fish which delighted the kids. Xavier was really kind and helpful. One of my all time favorite campsites!

We couldn’t have asked for a better spot! Just as other reviews said, this place is truly a gem. It has everything you need - waterfalls, a lake, potable water, toilets, and even reliable data reception. Xavier was incredibly accommodating and hands-on, which made the experience even more commendable. We’ll definitely be coming back for more adventures here! 💚

Truly a hidden little gem. Beautiful mountain terrain, with a charming little creek that flows through. Very minimal cabin with a wood stove and a open deck that works like a kitchenette.

We had an absolutely breathtaking time. Astrid & Xavier were phenomenal hosts. Attentive, knowledgeable, kind, friendly, available, and considerate. We have never camped anywhere like this. The location is beautifully situated, nestled under the trees, under the stars. We swam in the waterfall, paddles across the river, and watched the rain gently come down on the rocks atop the waterfall. It is truly a special place. Thank you again Astrid and Xavier! We can’t wait to come back again and again! A truly peaceful and magical time.

A wonderful place to camp. We had a private spot facing the waterfall. The camping spot are well spaced out, the views are spectacular. The hosts were very nice and welcoming. It’s a bit more of a roughing it style, the road in is rough, outhouse bathrooms, the terrain is a little difficult for large tents. . But that is what makes it beautiful, it’s not an RV parking lot. We are already planning on going again.

The campsite was absolutely stunning, with several spots to choose from—each offering a beautiful view of the river. I would recommend it without hesitation!
The road from the 315 to the site is a bit bumpy, and water is only available at the reception (just a short walk away). But honestly, those are such minor inconveniences that I’m really stretching to find any negatives.
It’s also wonderfully dog-friendly—my pup had the best time exploring and enjoying the outdoors alongside us.
The hosts, Astrid and Xavier-Loup, were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Thank you both for everything—you made the stay even more enjoyable!

This was the best experience camping coming from my husband who camps quite frequently. This was my first time camping and I was beyond happy and comfortable. The site is very large but private. There is a scenic waterfall by campsites to the left and a gorgeous lake to the right. There are no mosquitos or flys from the waterfall. There are canoes and Kayaks available on site. The owners are lovey couple who ensured we were happy and had everything we needed. We are coming back next summer 100%. We have already told our friends and family about this gem of a place.
