It was 1984 when John found his ‘diamond in the rough’, 20 acres with an orchard on the outskirts of Brantford. O.K., so the house was nothing to write home about but perfect for building a construction yard…no neighbors except for the family across the road that used their property to build log homes. By 1987 the old house was gone, a new one was being built and a shop for working on heavy equipment had been located about 200 ft. from Dr. the back door. It wasn’t until 1996 that things changed very much. Yes, the property around the house had benefitted from a wide array of trees and shrubs that John saved from the construction/demolition jobs he had done and that still thrive today but no big projects (except for equipment purchases) were ongoing. A chance meeting with the neighbor across the road one day resulted in the following dinner conversation, ‘How was your day’ I chirped. ‘Not bad, so-and-so didn’t come in; the truck broke down and I took it for repair; I bought the property across the road, and oh, yeah I’ll need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ was John’s casual reply. ‘What was that’? I pressed. ‘Yes, I need a ride after dinner to pick up the truck’ he repeated with a bit more volume. Of course like anyone, I had questions, ‘Do you want peas or corn with dinner’? ‘What time do you want to go to get the truck’? ‘The property across the road’, 10 acres, still has the 4 storey barn with its twin tiled silos which was built in 1914 and the big white house with wrap around porch that once was home to a Doctor and his family. Built so the Doctor could see his patients in the front with the family living in the back was very common in the day. Things remained relatively peaceful until 2000 when after studying alpacas for more than 6 years I bought our first three. Back in 2000 alpacas and llamas were not frequently seen on farms and because they could been seen from the road they received A LOT of attention. People driving by would stop and ask about them, ask if they could take a picture or two and that was when I would hear over and over again ‘You have a beautiful place here, I wish I/we could stay’. Well, if you want to visit and stay in the city it’s doable, we call it a hotel. But visiting a farm and staying well, that isn’t so easy. Each year we would see more and more families coming to ‘The Farm’ as they would call it. Some came to see the alpacas and horses, some came for a stroll and to check out the horse drawn milk and bread delivery wagons, some to have family birthday parties, others to have engagement/wedding/Christmas card pictures…and so many asked if there was any way they could spend a day or two. In 2021 during a conversation with a friend I mentioned we were in the process of gutting the 1100 sq. ft. space downstairs and turning it into an Airbnb! Right away she said, ‘I don’t know why you don’t have a Hipcamp? You’ve got that great area by the new barn that Hipcampers would love’! After a little investigation I found out what a Hipcamp was…and as they say, the rest is future.

We are a short drive to Guelph Lake, the Elora Gorge, Guelph to Goderich rail trail, and a 25-minute drive to St Jacob's farmers market. And a 1.4 km walk to a small country market and bakery. A great site for families that you can call home and plan day trips around the area, or hang out at the campsite. Firewood is available for purchase on-site. We have 3 campsites that are spread out on 4 acres of grass. 1 site is used for temporary summer trailers, 2 are for camping. Pets are welcome, but keep them on a leash. Please remember to remove all garbage and recycling from campsites, a compost bin is available on site by the garden. A portable toilet is available from May 15 to the end of thanksgiving weekend in October. And please note that we are located beside an active rail line that is used by the Go Train, VIA Rail and freighters, there are trains that pass throughout the night. Our 14 acre property is a quiet oasis on several biking trails (G2G, Cottonwood Road, Trans Canada Trail) and a very short drive to famous Elora (7 min) and St. Jacobs (20 min), access to several Grand River launch sites, many nearby hiking trails, and countless Mennonite farmers markets with fresh produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, and preserves. There is really something for everyone around here. We have a beautiful green acreage with a picturesque pond, next to Cox Creek and privacy with open and treed space and the promise of gorgeous sunsets almost every night. We have fire pits, picnic tables, Muskoka chairs and plenty of firewood. There is plenty of space for tents, and/or RVs. Check out the individual listings for more details about each site. We strive to give you a tranquil experience in a beautiful space where you can enjoy relaxing days close to nature, have space to play games, have a paddle around the pond, or seek out the many surrounding activities. A couple notes about the property: You may encounter property owners (that's us!) and our kids enjoying a walk with their friendly dogs unleashed, picking berries, playing a game or doing yard work near your site and around the property. We hope you don't mind. We aim to give you a lot of privacy, so we aren't going to be around all the time, don't worry. The property is great for walking your dog leash free. Close to amenities and town but also feels secluded. Your campground includes - fire pit - walking trail - large cut grass field - great for dogs and walking dogs - abuts farm land with lots of privacy - no hydro available at main campground but for an extra charge I can provide a generator - porta potty on site which is very clean. - ability to park on grass or gravel - depending on time of year pond, it does dry up but dogs love swimming in it. - great sunrises and sunsets - 2 minutes to groceries and liquor stores, restaurants, Tim Hortons, Dog Park etc. - Lots of wood supply for fires (Extra Charge) The property can accommodate multiple camping reservations but for now we are only accepting 1 at a time on a a 5 acre portion of our 14 acres. The pond does dry up as the summer goes on as of right now until we renovate it, And we do not allow swimming in it (Animals are ok).

You will have access to clean water to swim in (no soaps or detergents in the pond please, we also swim in the pond regularly so we might see you in there, the pond is about 40 meters from our house, no fishing in the pond), clean water to drink + wash dishes in, lots of safe flat parking for cars and camper vans, lots of safe flat grass for tents, a giant forest, views of a few beautiful horses doing their own thing on our pastures (do not feed them or go within the fenced off horse areas), loads of birds, dragonflies, butterflies and more! We require quiet after 9pm, and before 9am. No excessive substance use please. No substance use if you are going to swim. Private simple camping toilet/outhouse setup with view of nature. Water for washing hands. No shower. We moved here because we thought it was beautiful, and we hope to share that with others. We live here, and enjoy the water and land every day. This is quite an honour, only 8 Newcomer Awards were given to the over 500,000 Hipcamp sites. Our 14 acre property is a quiet oasis on several biking trails (G2G, Cottonwood Road, Trans Canada Trail) and a very short drive to famous Elora (7 min) and St. Jacobs (20 min), access to several Grand River launch sites, many nearby hiking trails, and countless Mennonite farmers markets with fresh produce, baked goods, meats, cheeses, and preserves. There is really something for everyone around here. We have a beautiful green acreage with a picturesque pond, next to Cox Creek and privacy with open and treed space and the promise of gorgeous sunsets almost every night. We have fire pits, picnic tables, Muskoka chairs and plenty of firewood. There is plenty of space for tents, and/or RVs. Check out the individual listings for more details about each site. We strive to give you a tranquil experience in a beautiful space where you can enjoy relaxing days close to nature, have space to play games, have a paddle around the pond, or seek out the many surrounding activities. A couple notes about the property: You may encounter property owners (that's us!) and our kids enjoying a walk with their friendly dogs unleashed, picking berries, playing a game or doing yard work near your site and around the property. We hope you don't mind. We aim to give you a lot of privacy, so we aren't going to be around all the time, don't worry. Our home is located on the edge of elmira. We live on 14 acres. We built a 1 acre campground on our property which also has a few trails for you to wander. The property is great for walking your dog leash free. Close to amenities and town but also feels secluded. Your campground includes - fire pit - walking trail - large cut grass field - great for dogs and walking dogs - abuts farm land with lots of privacy - no hydro available at main campground but for an extra charge I can provide a generator - porta potty on site which is very clean. - ability to park on grass or gravel - depending on time of year pond, it does dry up but dogs love swimming in it. - great sunrises and sunsets - 2 minutes to groceries and liquor stores, restaurants, Tim Hortons, Dog Park etc. - Lots of wood supply for fires (Extra Charge) The property can accommodate multiple camping reservations but for now we are only accepting 1 at a time on a a 5 acre portion of our 14 acres. The pond does dry up as the summer goes on as of right now until we renovate it, And we do not allow swimming in it (Animals are ok).

This place was peaceful and quiet, which is what I value most. I was there for a quick stopover so I only took a short walk in the bush. The hosts were friendly but not intrusive.

2 nights at Hidden Oasis Near Elora
It truly is a " Hidden Oasis " . I really appreciated the quick response back from Laura to my inquiries and too the suggestions she gave for things we could do in the area during our stay. The setting could not have been nicer with large mature trees, a pond you could walk around and large clearing to gaze the stars at night fall. Comments already made about the large fire pit & welcoming large compositing outhouse and paddle boat (s) by the pond edge. Our boating Cat was absolutely fascinated with the pond and racing around the large cedars. Lots of reviews nothing not one negative thing could be said!! Looking forward to booking time at Hidden Oasis. Thank you, Jeannette H

Perfect spot! Pretty secluded from other campers and makes you feel like you found a personal secret pond to have a fire next to. We stayed at #2 and loved the smell of thyme that was growing naturally!

5/5 Stars. Truly remarkable David’s land was extremely peaceful and easily accessible. What stood out the most was how quiet and private it felt; you could actually relax and hear nature around you. The property was well kept, and the host was friendly and responsive. There’s plenty of open space for camping, a nice fire pit area, and great views (especially at sunset). Perfect spot if you’re looking to unplug for a bit. Not a Negative, however, this property appears to have high activity of coyotes, located approximately 50 - 100 feet away from Site 2. Coyotes are fairly timid and gutless animals but be cautious if bringing pets and or little ones, as the cries and howls can be a bit overwhelming. Coins in a can is a must-have to startle them peacefully.

Beautiful location! The host is very hospitable. There is electricity and water hookups. You can bring your rv or tent! There is a little river to canoe or paddle boat on. There are trails to walk all around the property! Overall great time will be back next year for a longer visit! One note, if you're bringing an animal make sure you clean their paws lol the ground has sand mixed with grass.

1 night at Hidden Oasis Near Elora
This was a great location, really beautiful spot. It's secluded and quiet and they included some firewood to start which was really nice. The pond was smaller than expected, and we were hoping it had some fish but I think there was only 1 or two smaller fish in there. They have a paddleboat there which was nice and a small floating dock. Grass was cut very well and property maintained well, the drive in was pleasant. Instructions were sent clearly. Bathroom was clean and it was nice that they were selling firewood for a really affordable price.

This was my second time at The Farm and this time I brought my kids, 3 and 6 years old. They loved it. Perfect weather to have a warm campfire and lots of space to run around and observe the farm equipment. They were so enamoured with the construction vehicles, the animals and of course Karen’s warm, funny and welcoming nature. She gave us a wonderful tour of the farm and the highlight was being able to feed the Alpacas. Karen thank you for your hospitality, the firewood, the coffee and hot chocolates! You’re truly a lovely soul. Looking forward to our next stay with you!

Appreciated that Shelby communicated and met me upon arrival. Was an easy set up and interesting location. Animals are super cute. I imagine the ranch is very lovely in summer. I liked the signage which made it easy to navigate. There’s The Danish Place nearby which is also cool. Was only there for one sleep but was a nice stop on my way back to Ottawa.
