Situated on 18 acres, available to our guests we have our main cabin, a dining gazebo, and a riverside gazebo. The area is well treed in for privacy and a true feeling of an escape. Guests can access hours of private hiking trails along the river and through the forest. An open area next to the cabin is available for lounging and games as well as viewing of the night sky with no light pollution.
Located an approximate 200ft from the York River, our 700 sqft cabin features vaulted ceilings with ample amounts of sunlight for a cozy yet airy feel. It is fully winterized with baseboard heaters and a wood stove.

The cottage is at the edge of a large wilderness area. We supply an ultra-safe large canoe with paddles and lifejackets. It's an easy and fun 15 minute paddle to reach the cottage.
The cottage is an artistic gem on a safe and quiet lake with beavers and loons and numerous bird species -- owls, herons, hawks, ospreys, and many migratory songbirds. In over 20 years of experience on the lake, we've seen no bears. It's a cosy three-room place with a small bedroom (8x12) with an antique double bed; a main room (16 x12) with a single bed; and a kitchen (8X12). Sleeps 3, max.
Access to the cottage is up a short set of irregular stone stairs from the lake. This could be an impediment for elderly or frail people. The lake is not a private lake. There are other cottages. But it's a very quiet lake and often there's no one else there.
The landscape is very similar to Algonquin Park's. North Kawartha is famous as the birthplace of the canoe. This is a thinly-populated landscape of rugged granite bluffs, thickly-forested hills and valleys, and gorgeous lakes that remain quiet and peaceful even during the hottest summer weeks.
This place was made by and for lovers, artists, poets, musicians, dreamers, writers, environmentalists, ecologists, escapists...and their children.

Where the silver moon touches the pine ridge, sits a wilderness cabin surrounded by a quiet forest overlooking a secluded lake. This completely private property has many trails to explore and an abundance of wildlife. A wood burning stove keeps the cabin warm while pillows and blankets provide much needed comfort. Enjoy your favorite winter outdoor activities, take photos of the frozen forest, make a campfire or curl up with a book as the snow falls outside, lulling you to sleep.
The space
This wilderness escape is only 170 km (2hr) drive from Toronto. There are no people or houses in sight, no cars, no lights – only the whispering of the towering pines and the sounds of nature. There is nothing but silence, and the serenity makes you feel that you are the only one on Earth. The cabin is accessible by a 10-15min hike from the main road where you park your car. We provide a sled to haul in your gear. There are older locked cabins on site - the remnants of a former hunting camp and a glimpse of the era gone by.
The wood burning stove is the heating source in the cabin and bagged firewood is delivered to the cabin and can be purchased on-site. Non bagged firewood is free. Pots/pans/cutlery are provided, but if you don’t want to do the dishes, disposable plates/cups are available. Camping stove and BBQ are also provided for your cooking needs. During winter months, running water is not available - you can melt snow on the stove. Or, you can take a trip to Minden for a meal at a fast food or fine dining restaurant.
The property is adjacent to crown land which is spectacular for hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing (two pairs available at the cabin), sledding, and ice skating/hockey (check ice conditions first, hockey sticks are at the cabin). QE II Provincial Park is only 1 km (1 min drive) from the cabin where you can explore more extensive hiking and cross-country skiing trails. In the evening, play a board game, read a book or simply relax by the stove with your favorite drink and enjoy the sounds of nature.

Guests have access to a floating dock on the Black River, a canoe, and a stand-up paddleboard to use at guests' own risk. Water level fluctuates and no diving is allowed at any time. Please note, the dock, canoe and SUP board have been removed for the winter season.
Guests will have access to the entire cottage.

Welcome to the Muskoka Glamphouse! This romantic off-grid 100-square-foot tiny house is located just 10 minutes outside of Gravenhurst, surrounded by forest. This private getaway provides an authentic glamping experience with no running water, electricity, or Wi-Fi.
Featuring:
• Small kitchenette with a foot-pump-operated sink and water jugs
• Coffee with a French press
• Outdoor BBQ grill for meal preparation
• Queen-size bed with plush sheets and pillows
• Short walk to an access point on Lake Muskoka
• Kayak available for guest use (shared with the neighboring cottage). Two adult life jackets are provided.
OFF-GRID EXPERIENCE
The Glamphouse is purposefully designed to help you disconnect, as follows:
No electricity or Wi-Fi — Battery-operated and solar-powered lights are provided to illuminate the cabin both indoors and outdoors. We suggest turning off your phone and using this time to “disconnect to reconnect.” If you would like to charge your phone, we recommend bringing a power bank or using your vehicle.
No running water — Water jugs are provided and replenished, with additional water available from the town supply tap, a short 5-minute drive away at the wharf. While there is no shower facility, an elegant outhouse with a composting toilet is located in a separate building. Daily use instructions are provided in the outhouse.
No heating or cooling — We suggest bringing weather-appropriate clothing and warmer layers for cooler nights, as there is no heating or air conditioning.
This is Muskoka, and there are bugs (especially from mid-June to mid-August). Even with a screened-in gazebo, bugs are still present. Please come prepared.
Please be respectful of our neighbors. Sound carries, and while the site is private, there are neighboring properties through the trees. Parties are not permitted at the Glamphouse, and only guests registered on the booking and approved ahead of time are allowed at the site.

Weekend Trip to Rugby House Retreat
Renée and Warren have a very nice piece of land with a small lake and island. We stayed in the Poor House, which was very comfortable and had a lovely pine smell. The cabin had no electricity but was well equipped and had everything we needed. The hosts were very friendly and communicative.

Weekend Trip to 40 Acre Woods at 29&1 Private Venue
My boyfriend and I had an amazing night stay on Sarah and her husband’s property! They were so kind, and let us know that if there was anything we needed we could ask them. Very private area in the back woods of their land with a wonderful fully lit walk to the cabin. The outhouse was very clean and actually quite cute!

Amazing we stayed in the cottage and loved every minute of our stay , we had 2 deer visitors on front lawn of the cottage n chipmunks came to say hi during morning coffee lol. I wouldn't change anything it was fantastic and the family and I will be definitely be booking again. The host was amazing making sure the place was ready to go for when we showed up even leaving snacks and things as a welcome gift and making sure if we needed anything to contact her. 5 star review for us, and we'll see you next time and hopefully soon

Weekend Trip to Peaceful Off-Grid Cabin Retreat
We came out here for a peaceful getaway as most couples would. But, we never expected our cabin to feel like home for three nights and having the most scenic view just from the back porch. Sure the rain kept us from having a fire in the back but that didn’t stop us from seeing all the amazing outlooks and trails!! I would recommend this place for ones who enjoy the quiet and greenery when being stuck in the city life!

Weekend Trip to That Place In The Woods
Although we used the cabin mainly as a place to just sleep for this trip, my five year old and I enjoyed our stay. The woods were cute and everything was easy to find / get to as described by Jennifer. We would love to come back sometime and actually spend some more time in nature and camp here. One thing I will note is that the property was a little bit more run down than in the photos, maybe as if nobody had been there for a while (ie. I didn't feel quite comfortable going through the art trail as the start had some fairly long grass and weeds and was worried about ticks with my son and the door of the screened in lounge was hanging off the hinges). These things didn't hinder our stay at all.

Really quiet, green and clean land to come and check out! Night skies were beautiful and the horses were pretty awesome! Clean showers, clean outhouses and very accommodating rooms for the glamping option. I love how outdoor mesh tents were provided alongside some seats, makes hangouts much better without bugs eating us. Paul's cabin in the woods is a lovely call to simpler times. The short hike up the hill is a bit of challenge with a heavy cooler, but once you arrive, the space is mesmerizing. Everywhere you look there is a story to be told. The kitchen has everything you need and then some, the beds are comfy and the outhouse is very welcoming. When we were not sleeping we were sitting on the dock or swimming in the beautiful waters of the lake. While we were there we felt like we were staying at a friends cottage, we were filled with gratitude and wanted to leave the place a little better then it was when we arrived, not for the benefit of the owner, but for the benefit of all those yet to come. It's a beautiful place to be still and chill.

We had such a fantastic stay at this gorgeous cabin. It’s truly off the grid, with no electricity, candle lit rustic feel, exactly the kind of getaway we needed. We brought our dog along, and the open space made it a perfect trip for all of us.
The main reason for our visit was to stargaze during the peak of the Perseids meteor shower. We didn’t get to see the Perseids themselves, but the night sky was absolutely beautiful, and the whole experience was still gorgeous.
The host was awesome and had everything we needed. The site was neat, clean, peaceful, and thoughtfully set up.
There aren’t a ton of places to explore in Coboconk, but Balsam Provincial Park was beautiful. We spent the whole day there and really enjoyed it.
One thing to definitely bring: lots of bug spray! The bugs can be a bit bothersome, especially when you’re spending time outdoors.
Overall, this was a fantastic getaway and a must-visit site for anyone looking for a peaceful, rustic, off-the-grid escape. We’d absolutely come back!
