Perched on a west-facing cliff at The Off Grid Ark, our rustic shelter is now fully winter-ready. A whisper-quiet diesel heater, mounted safely outside, keeps the cabin toasty warm all night while you sleep surrounded by nature. Outside, a propane deck heater makes it easy to enjoy coffee or dinner under the stars. We’ve also added a Cuisinart tabletop propane BBQ, which cooks faster and cleaner than the old jet grill — perfect for winter gloves and quick meals. We have snowshoes for rent and 10 km of groomed snowshoe trails winding through maple forest, ridges, and lakeshores — the same trails used for Canada’s longest-running snowshoe and trail race series, The Mad Trapper. I’m also hoping to cut a new backcountry ski loop this winter at the top of the escarpment for adventurous guests. The shelter includes a queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet, plus space for tents around the firepit if you’d like a group setup. Kids and pets stay free, just leave it like you found it. The covered deck has handcrafted rocking chairs for lingering over sunsets, while your private fire area sits just below — perfect for roasting marshmallows or watching the stars. Hammocks are tucked into quiet corners for lazy afternoons or stargazing at night. We’re also building a new bunkhouse nearby for families and groups — another step toward making The Ark a year-round destination for outdoor education and adventure. There’s no electricity or running water, but you’ll have remote-control and desktop LED lights, a Jackery battery bank to keep devices charged, and a Bluetooth speaker for music or podcasts. A cooler, lanterns, jugs of clean well water, and a clean outhouse are provided. Wildlife is plentiful — deer, foxes, loons, and the occasional wolf howl in the distance. Our off grid house is nestled in the forest on approximately 5 acres we call Jacobs Landing. It overlooks the wetland of Long Sault Creek, fed by Barbers lakes. The wee house is a pleasant 300 foot walk into the forest off of the main dirt road. There is parking on the property and a gate that can be closed for the ultimate feeling of privacy. Jacobs Landing was designed for an off-grid tiny home in the forest experience. Accommodating two adults only. We prefer no pets as we have much wildlife living in the forest and around the house. Our area, also known as the land of lakes, is gleaming with local farmers markets, great food, artisans, walking trails, many lakes and so much character. We hope you enjoy browsing through pictures and getting familiar with our Forest house. I have just completed building our forest dream and am very excited to share it. I will be working hard on the gardens this spring, with hopes to have fresh vegetables in season for our guests. We also continue to upgrade our walking trails. The forest house is an off grid set up that runs off of solar panels that charge batteries. With this system we are able to run the water pump and supply an inverter to charge devices. Most of the lights in the house are battery operated it doesn’t take much to light this place up. Our water is collected with two 1000 gallon drums supplied by natures finest, our rainfalls. With the water collected I was able to supply a kitchen sink and a shower. Our hot water on demand system works well for the shower. There is a gravity operated sink just outside of the privy. The perfect place to capture or recapture tranquility. An unplugged space for a clear mind, we take pride in being free from WI FI, hydro electricity and cell service is scarce. Signals vary in the forest depending on your server. Our forest house has a cozy, comfortable and unique ambiance. A wood stove for those chilli nights and mornings. An antique, but well functioning ice box. A cozy reading loft, cribbage board, cards and dice. Parking is off the dirt road and about 200 meters from the forest house. It’s a short and lovely walk. We use our UTV to get to and from the forest house and are more than happy to carry your belongings for your convenience. You can shut the gate for a sense of complete privacy once you’re in. Jacobs Landing lies next to Long Sault Creek and its Wetlands. We’ve made sitting spots along the marshland for birdwatching. Barbers lake is situated across from the main house (a ten minute walk). It’s a beautiful spot to spend some peaceful time on the water. A quant quiet lake with little population, no seadoos or speed boats make it a perfectly peaceful body of water with ample wildlife. Whether you enjoy fishing or just enjoying the great views and peaceful tranquil paddling you will certainly enjoy Barbers Lake. Don’t forget your camera! We have a barbeque outside and a two burner propane cook top inside. If you’re staying in the cooler seasons the woodstove works nicely for warming up soup and heating water. We offer a fire pit when there is no “fire ban”. Feel free to gather dead wood in the forest, and we offer wood for sale. When the “ban” is on, or the mosquitoes are annoying. Enjoy a lit screened Gazebo. There will be a visible notice posted in the forest about fire status. We take very much pride in what we have built, it truly is a place of tranquility. My greatest reward will be sharing this with you. I strive to be a great host. This is all new to me, I look forward to meeting you all and welcome your feedback. Available for June 2024

(There is no running water or electricity). We are stocked with all bedding, towels, dishware, tea, coffee, and a French press! You'll find a BBQ and camp stove for cooking on the deck - there's no fridge, but a cooler with ice packs will be provided. Battery packs are here for charging cell phones and laptops (with USB-C and USB). The tiny home comes complete with rechargeable lamps, battery powered lights, potable drinking and washing water, and WIFI! Consider this the most indoor camping experience you can have and still be out in the woods! You'll want to be comfortable with making a fire and keeping warm in the winter months! The tiny stove will keep you warm on the coldest winter days, but you have to keep it going. :) In the winter months, we'll get the stove started to warm everything before you arrive (and provide you with kindling and wood). When cleaning out the ashes in the stove (if necessary,) please use the metal pail outside and place the ash-filled pail back on the concrete blocks. Please note that there is no other heat source. Check out Mill Pond Conservation Area for great hiking about 15 minutes away! Maybe Rock Dunder Nature Reserve for hiking and AMAZING views? (30 minutes). Check out Rideau Ferry Beach (Yacht Club Conservation Area) for public swimming on Rideau Lake nearby the tiny house! Looking for bikes/kayaks/canoes? I’m also hoping to cut a new backcountry ski loop this winter at the top of the escarpment for adventurous guests. The shelter includes a queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet, plus space for tents around the firepit if you’d like a group setup. Kids and pets stay free, just leave it like you found it. Our off grid house is nestled in the forest on approximately 5 acres we call Jacobs Landing. It overlooks the wetland of Long Sault Creek, fed by Barbers lakes. The wee house is a pleasant 300 foot walk into the forest off of the main dirt road. There is parking on the property and a gate that can be closed for the ultimate feeling of privacy. Jacobs Landing was designed for an off-grid tiny home in the forest experience. Accommodating two adults only. We prefer no pets as we have much wildlife living in the forest and around the house. Our area, also known as the land of lakes, is gleaming with local farmers markets, great food, artisans, walking trails, many lakes and so much character. We hope you enjoy browsing through pictures and getting familiar with our Forest house. I have just completed building our forest dream and am very excited to share it. I will be working hard on the gardens this spring, with hopes to have fresh vegetables in season for our guests. We also continue to upgrade our walking trails. The forest house is an off grid set up that runs off of solar panels that charge batteries. With this system we are able to run the water pump and supply an inverter to charge devices. Most of the lights in the house are battery operated it doesn’t take much to light this place up. Our water is collected with two 1000 gallon drums supplied by natures finest, our rainfalls. With the water collected I was able to supply a kitchen sink and a shower. Our hot water on demand system works well for the shower. There is a gravity operated sink just outside of the privy. The perfect place to capture or recapture tranquility. An unplugged space for a clear mind, we take pride in being free from WI FI, hydro electricity and cell service is scarce. Signals vary in the forest depending on your server. Our forest house has a cozy, comfortable and unique ambiance. A wood stove for those chilli nights and mornings. An antique, but well functioning ice box. A cozy reading loft, cribbage board, cards and dice. Parking is off the dirt road and about 200 meters from the forest house. It’s a short and lovely walk. We use our UTV to get to and from the forest house and are more than happy to carry your belongings for your convenience. You can shut the gate for a sense of complete privacy once you’re in. Jacobs Landing lies next to Long Sault Creek and its Wetlands. We’ve made sitting spots along the marshland for birdwatching. Barbers lake is situated across from the main house (a ten minute walk). It’s a beautiful spot to spend some peaceful time on the water. A quant quiet lake with little population, no seadoos or speed boats make it a perfectly peaceful body of water with ample wildlife. Whether you enjoy fishing or just enjoying the great views and peaceful tranquil paddling you will certainly enjoy Barbers Lake. Don’t forget your camera! We have a barbeque outside and a two burner propane cook top inside. If you’re staying in the cooler seasons the woodstove works nicely for warming up soup and heating water. We offer a fire pit when there is no “fire ban”. Feel free to gather dead wood in the forest, and we offer wood for sale. When the “ban” is on, or the mosquitoes are annoying. Enjoy a lit screened Gazebo. There will be a visible notice posted in the forest about fire status. We take very much pride in what we have built, it truly is a place of tranquility. My greatest reward will be sharing this with you. I strive to be a great host. This is all new to me, I look forward to meeting you all and welcome your feedback. Available for June 2024

The tiny home comes complete with rechargeable lamps, battery powered lights, potable drinking and washing water, and WIFI! Consider this the most indoor camping experience you can have and still be out in the woods! You'll want to be comfortable with making a fire and keeping warm in the winter months! The tiny stove will keep you warm on the coldest winter days, but you have to keep it going. :) In the winter months, we'll get the stove started to warm everything before you arrive (and provide you with kindling and wood). When cleaning out the ashes in the stove (if necessary,) please use the metal pail outside and place the ash-filled pail back on the concrete blocks. Please note that there is no other heat source. Your campsite and cabin(s) are nestled a half-km from our home, along a driveable path to the site, as long as the road is clear of ice and snow. You will have total privacy for you and your guests and yours will be the only rental while you are here! There is a main cabin that is set up for two people that comes with your rental. There is also tons of mowed space for other guests to camp, included in the initial booking price, or, if they choose, they can rent our sleep cabin that has room for up to 7 more to sleep in a bed in a cozy cabin. We are happy to host large, friend and family gatherings. There is an outdoor shower, outdoor games, three hard-topped gazebos, hammocks, scenic walks, a large fire pit with plenty of seating, picnic tables, and more! Our goal is to provide a cozy, private, get-away for people who want to be able to pack a few clothes, some bug-spray/sunblock, some food, and head off to the woods. We have tried to think of everything you might need so you don't have to! Your site is far from any other homes or roads, surrounded by forest, Canadian Shield, and beaver ponds. We offer 2 log cabins on a century old farm nestled on Ferguson Lake where you can relax and enjoy swimming, boating and fishing. Each cabin sleeps 6-8 individuals and features a large windowed porch, refrigerator, gas range, microwave, BBQ and is fully equipped to handle your house keeping needs. There are 3 double bunk beds in each cabin and a queen sized bed on the porch. There is running potable cold and hot water in cabin. Although there are NO in-cabin washrooms, we do provide a cabin-dedicated portion of a separate shower and washroom building in very close proximity. The sandy beach is ideal for children and adults alike to swim and there is a dock for sunning, diving or fishing. We have a raft out in the lake for more experienced swimmers. You can soak up the sun by the beach, picnic in the shade of our willow trees or try your hand at a game of horse shoes or for the avid fishermen Ferguson Lake has pike, largemouth bass and walleye. We are a 25-45 minute drive away from Logo’s Land, Calabogie Motorsports Park, 5 golf courses (Dragonfly, Renfrew, Calabogie Highlands, Oaks of Cobden and Whitetail), hiking destinations, ATV trails and numerous other lakes and rivers.

Escape to the Forest Hideaway, a charming off-grid tiny house with tiny wood stove, perfect for adventure! No need to disconnect - we’ve got WIFI! Make sure to enjoy the deck and nearby gazebo! Inside, you'll find your queen bed in the loft at the top of a ladder. The tiny house is surrounded by trees, and the interior has a platform couch and bench for seating, tiny wood stove, tiny kitchen, "shower" area for sponge bathing, and a composting toilet. (There is no running water or electricity). We are stocked with all bedding, towels, dishware, tea, coffee, and a French press! You'll find a BBQ and camp stove for cooking on the deck - there's no fridge, but a cooler with ice packs will be provided. Battery packs are here for charging cell phones and laptops (with USB-C and USB). The tiny home comes complete with rechargeable lamps, battery powered lights, potable drinking and washing water, and WIFI! Consider this the most indoor camping experience you can have and still be out in the woods! You'll want to be comfortable with making a fire and keeping warm in the winter months! The tiny stove will keep you warm on the coldest winter days, but you have to keep it going. :) In the winter months, we'll get the stove started to warm everything before you arrive (and provide you with kindling and wood). When cleaning out the ashes in the stove (if necessary,) please use the metal pail outside and place the ash-filled pail back on the concrete blocks. Please note that there is no other heat source. Check out Mill Pond Conservation Area for great hiking about 15 minutes away! Maybe Rock Dunder Nature Reserve for hiking and AMAZING views? (30 minutes). Check out Rideau Ferry Beach (Yacht Club Conservation Area) for public swimming on Rideau Lake nearby the tiny house! Looking for bikes/kayaks/canoes? The cabin is beautifully built and well-equipped. Mike's communication is excellent, he went out of his way to accommodate us, and he is a pleasure to chat to. The hiking trails are well-marked and the walk to the lake is beautiful, even in the late fall with barely any leaves left on the trees. We spent a peaceful and restorative two nights, and look forward to doing so again.

Lisa is a wonderful host — calm, friendly, and with great communication throughout our stay. Her hospitality and attention to comfort were amazing. She kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. It was a bit cold during our visit since there’s no electricity in the caravan, but Lisa made sure we had enough warmers to stay cozy. The propane stove worked perfectly, and the kitchen was well-equipped for making coffee and tea. We probably chose the wrong season — early fall or summer would be ideal — but the cold was still manageable for us. Overall, it was a peaceful and memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Neil has a great place 30 minutes away from Gatineau! U get plenty of privacy on his property. We've enjoyed the sound of the water crrek at night. There is a wood heater inside the tent so the temperature was not too cold in mid october. There is a grocery store 5 min from the camp.... Very convinient. Would recommend!

My family and I stayed in one of the bell tents at Agape Gardens. It was super clean and very well decorated. It was so inviting and cosy. Jennie smudged the tent prior to us arriving which is such an honour to have done. Jennie and her beautiful family welcomed us with a tour of the property, which we found to be extremely well looked after. From the brimming gardens, healthy live stock, well established hiking trail, to the multiple options of sites to camp at, we were very impressed. We felt at home immediately and wished we could’ve stayed longer. We also met her neighbours who were also very friendly people and jumped to help us fix some toys we had with us. We had an absolutely lovely, relaxing time at Mike's cabin this weekend. The cabin is the perfect blend of rustic and cozy, with many thoughtful little amenities that made us feel at home right away and eliminated the stress of packing compared to traditional tent camping. We were lucky enough to book with fall colours in full force and were treated to stunning sunset views both nights. With enough hiking trails and wilderness to explore to your heart's content, there was plenty of opportunity to mix in some adventure. We are eagerly looking forward to coming back soon and experiencing what winter at the cabin has to offer!

Warm feels – The host was really friendly and went out of their way to make us feel at home. No surprises – The tent was just as it appeared in the photos (always a plus!). Cozy feels – Extra blankets were produced when the temperature dropped to 0°C. Saviour. Campfire goals – David had kindling ready for the fire each evening. Complete vibe setter. We were also offered a bottle of wine at the fireplace, how kind. Breakfast bonus – Home-cooked breakfasts from scratch? Alone, worth the trip. Garden perks – Had the chance to pick fresh vegetables that they grow in their garden. Yes, please! Glamp life upgrades – Real toilets + a legitimate shower area = a luxury in the woods. They also have a power outlet inside the tent, which is a big plus. Hot water hiccup – The hot water heater malfunctioned one day, but they got us up and running again quickly and even offered us a breakfast discount. Tip: Check if the hot water tank works when booking. Chill zone – Hammock time and well-spaced tent sites = chill time. Booking heads-up – Prices may vary slightly (between $ 65-100 CAD) across booking platforms, so compare them before making a reservation. The host and Hipcamp couldn't help recoup the difference. Final takeaway – Seriously, this house gets glamping right. So comfy, thoughtful little touches all over the place, and just the perfect combination of rough + cozy.
