I built this cabin to be a romantic, cozy off-grid getaway for humans , but if most of our guests are being honest, the dogs are the ones having the best time.
There’s a cozy queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet. A covered deck with handcrafted rocking chairs for sunset views. A private fire area below for campfires and stargazing. More than anything, this place has become a favourite for people who want to give their dogs the kind of freedom they rarely get anywhere else. Most of our guests tell us over and over, that their favourite part is watching their best friends make their own decisions, run the trails, sniff everything, chase chipmunks, explore the forest, and basically have the time of their lives.
Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too.
The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise.
This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. It’s a beautiful season here, muddy in spots, full of fresh smells, birdsong, and that feeling that everything is coming back to life. For dogs, it’s heaven. For people, it’s a chance to unplug, slow down, and enjoy a kind of peace that’s getting harder to find.
You’ll have access to 10 km of private trails through forest, ridgelines, and lakeshore. Wildlife is plentiful, and depending on the season, you may spot deer, foxes, loons, and maybe even a family of bald eagles!
There’s no electricity or running water, but that’s part of the magic. This is real off-grid comfort: simple, peaceful, and thoughtfully set up so you can enjoy nature without giving up a good night’s sleep.

There is a main cabin that is set up for two people that comes with your rental.
There is also tons of mowed space for other guests to camp, included in the initial booking price, or, if they choose, they can rent our sleep cabin that has room for up to 7 more to sleep in a bed in a cozy cabin. We are happy to host large, friend and family gatherings.

Yurta Stay: the 4 seasons Yurta sits in the middle of our property atop a very private elevated area. Listen to subtle sounds permeate the yurt while enjoying the comfort of an insulated wood stove heated space year round! To increase the full effect of this experience, the Yurta is accessible on foot (300m walk from the car parking). A trolley is provided to transport your personal belongings.
Our Yurta provides a 226 square foot 4 season space. It has an operable dome and 3 large windows. It is insulated with 100% wool felt and is outfitted with a wood stove. It has no vinyl nor any toxic materials.
The Yurta space includes:
- 2 custom raised beds with mattresses. These could fit 2-4 people. An extra cot is available if needed.
- a wood stove
- an outdoor fire pit
- firewood for purchase ($8 / bundle)
- table and some chairs
- an outdoor dry toilet on a platform, toilet paper, water for washing hands
- drinking water, flush toilet, and shower accessible at the main house
- parking is by the main house which is a 300m walk to the Yurta

Inside, you'll find your queen bed in the loft at the top of a ladder. The tiny house is surrounded by trees, and the interior has a platform couch and bench for seating, tiny wood stove, tiny kitchen, "shower" area for sponge bathing, and a composting toilet. (There is no running water or electricity). We are stocked with all bedding, towels, dishware, tea, coffee, and a French press! You'll find a BBQ and camp stove for cooking on the deck - there's no fridge, but a cooler with ice packs will be provided. Battery packs are here for charging cell phones and laptops (with USB-C and USB). The tiny home comes complete with rechargeable lamps, battery powered lights, potable drinking and washing water, and WIFI! Consider this the most indoor camping experience you can have and still be out in the woods!
You'll want to be comfortable with making a fire and keeping warm in the winter months! The tiny stove will keep you warm on the coldest winter days, but you have to keep it going. :) In the winter months, we'll get the stove started to warm everything before you arrive (and provide you with kindling and wood). When cleaning out the ashes in the stove (if necessary,) please use the metal pail outside and place the ash-filled pail back on the concrete blocks. Please note that there is no other heat source.

Of course, the humans tend to enjoy themselves too.
The cabin sits on a west-facing cliff on our private 164-acre property. Once you arrive, you’ll have the feeling of having the whole place to yourselves. The trails, the forest, the quiet, the sunsets, it all feels wonderfully removed from the usual noise.
This time of year, the forest is waking up, and the property starts to shift into spring. It’s a beautiful season here, muddy in spots, full of fresh smells, birdsong, and that feeling that everything is coming back to life. For dogs, it’s heaven. For people, it’s a chance to unplug, slow down, and enjoy a kind of peace that’s getting harder to find.
You’ll have access to 10 km of private trails through forest, ridgelines, and lakeshore. Wildlife is plentiful, and depending on the season, you may spot deer, foxes, loons, and maybe even a family of bald eagles!
There’s no electricity or running water, but that’s part of the magic. This is real off-grid comfort: simple, peaceful, and thoughtfully set up so you can enjoy nature without giving up a good night’s sleep.

Yurta Stay: the 4 seasons Yurta sits in the middle of our property atop a very private elevated area. Listen to subtle sounds permeate the yurt while enjoying the comfort of an insulated wood stove heated space year round! To increase the full effect of this experience, the Yurta is accessible on foot (300m walk from the car parking). A trolley is provided to transport your personal belongings.
Our Yurta provides a 226 square foot 4 season space. It has an operable dome and 3 large windows. It is insulated with 100% wool felt and is outfitted with a wood stove. It has no vinyl nor any toxic materials.
The Yurta space includes:
- 2 custom raised beds with mattresses. These could fit 2-4 people. An extra cot is available if needed.
- a wood stove
- an outdoor fire pit
- firewood for purchase ($8 / bundle)
- table and some chairs
- an outdoor dry toilet on a platform, toilet paper, water for washing hands
- drinking water, flush toilet, and shower accessible at the main house
- parking is by the main house which is a 300m walk to the Yurta

Escape to the Forest Hideaway, a charming off-grid tiny house with tiny wood stove, perfect for adventure! No need to disconnect - we’ve got WIFI! Make sure to enjoy the deck and nearby gazebo! Inside, you'll find your queen bed in the loft at the top of a ladder. The tiny house is surrounded by trees, and the interior has a platform couch and bench for seating, tiny wood stove, tiny kitchen, "shower" area for sponge bathing, and a composting toilet. (There is no running water or electricity). We are stocked with all bedding, towels, dishware, tea, coffee, and a French press! You'll find a BBQ and camp stove for cooking on the deck - there's no fridge, but a cooler with ice packs will be provided. Battery packs are here for charging cell phones and laptops (with USB-C and USB). The tiny home comes complete with rechargeable lamps, battery powered lights, potable drinking and washing water, and WIFI! Consider this the most indoor camping experience you can have and still be out in the woods!
You'll want to be comfortable with making a fire and keeping warm in the winter months! The tiny stove will keep you warm on the coldest winter days, but you have to keep it going. :) In the winter months, we'll get the stove started to warm everything before you arrive (and provide you with kindling and wood). When cleaning out the ashes in the stove (if necessary,) please use the metal pail outside and place the ash-filled pail back on the concrete blocks. Please note that there is no other heat source.
Check out Mill Pond Conservation Area for great hiking about 15 minutes away! Maybe Rock Dunder Nature Reserve for hiking and AMAZING views? (30 minutes).

We loved being able to let our dog roam safely off-leash and enjoy the freedom. Mike gave us such a warm welcome that immediately made us feel at home. We loved everything about our stay in the Cliffside Cabin and will definitely return. The cabin is cozy and inviting and kept us snug and warm despite the frigid -30 degree temps outside. The bed is heavenly; so comfortable for sleeping, and also surrounded by windows for enjoying the stunning views and sunset. The cabin strikes the perfect balance of rustic and convenience, so you get the charm and atmosphere of being off grid, but the comfort and ease of having lights easily accessible and sleeping through the night without having to stoke a fire to stay warm. The property is incredible. It’s totally private and has tons of beautiful wooded trails to explore. We snowshoed for hours and enjoyed the variety of trail types, from machine set to human set to making our very own in the deep snow! We were there during a nighttime snowshoe race so got to see all the headlamps moving very quickly through the forest from the comfort of the cabin after our own snowshoe adventure. Our dog, who is reactive and barky in the city, was able to be off leash and lived his best life from arrival to departure. He tired himself out exploring and put himself to bed early! Last but definitely not least, Mike was an exceptional host. He is responsive and thoughtful, offering to reschedule when I asked about the cold, and even offering to loan us his dog’s jacket when I said I might buy one. He is interesting and so easy to talk to, and we left his presence feeling uplifted. Highly recommend!

My partner and I LOVE staying here on our occasional trip up north! 20 Minutes from Gatineau Park and 35 minutes from Ottawa, it’s the perfect balance of time in the city and the beautiful countryside. Incredibly accommodating and kind hosts, it’s well worth a stay for any occasion :)

The Cliffside Cabin was exactly as advertised — quiet, simple, and clean with an absolutely amazing view. It’s the perfect spot to unplug and enjoy a few days surrounded by nature. Mike was a great host and made everything easy. Highly recommend if you’re looking for peace and fresh air!

Weekend Trip to Dog Friendly Cliffside Cabin
The cabin is beautifully built and well-equipped. Mike's communication is excellent, he went out of his way to accommodate us, and he is a pleasure to chat to. The hiking trails are well-marked and the walk to the lake is beautiful, even in the late fall with barely any leaves left on the trees. We spent a peaceful and restorative two nights, and look forward to doing so again.

Lisa is a wonderful host — calm, friendly, and with great communication throughout our stay. Her hospitality and attention to comfort were amazing. She kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed.
It was a bit cold during our visit since there’s no electricity in the caravan, but Lisa made sure we had enough warmers to stay cozy. The propane stove worked perfectly, and the kitchen was well-equipped for making coffee and tea.
We probably chose the wrong season — early fall or summer would be ideal — but the cold was still manageable for us. Overall, it was a peaceful and memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mike's cabin. It has beautiful backdrop of rolling hills as far as you can see. Well equipped deck for cooking your own meal and enjoy it surrounded by nature.
Cabin is warm and comfy, bed is great and rocking chairs on the patio are great for relaxing.
