Perched on a west-facing cliff at The Off Grid Ark, our rustic shelter is now fully winter-ready. A whisper-quiet diesel heater, mounted safely outside, keeps the cabin toasty warm all night while you sleep surrounded by nature. Outside, a propane deck heater makes it easy to enjoy coffee or dinner under the stars. We’ve also added a Cuisinart tabletop propane BBQ, which cooks faster and cleaner than the old jet grill — perfect for winter gloves and quick meals. We have snowshoes for rent and 10 km of groomed snowshoe trails winding through maple forest, ridges, and lakeshores — the same trails used for Canada’s longest-running snowshoe and trail race series, The Mad Trapper. I’m also hoping to cut a new backcountry ski loop this winter at the top of the escarpment for adventurous guests. The shelter includes a queen bed with fresh linens and a down duvet, plus space for tents around the firepit if you’d like a group setup. Kids and pets stay free, just leave it like you found it. The covered deck has handcrafted rocking chairs for lingering over sunsets, while your private fire area sits just below — perfect for roasting marshmallows or watching the stars. Hammocks are tucked into quiet corners for lazy afternoons or stargazing at night. We’re also building a new bunkhouse nearby for families and groups — another step toward making The Ark a year-round destination for outdoor education and adventure. There’s no electricity or running water, but you’ll have remote-control and desktop LED lights, a Jackery battery bank to keep devices charged, and a Bluetooth speaker for music or podcasts. Your campsite and cabin(s) are nestled a half-km from our home, along a driveable path to the site, as long as the road is clear of ice and snow. The cabin is beautifully built and well-equipped. Mike's communication is excellent, he went out of his way to accommodate us, and he is a pleasure to chat to. The hiking trails are well-marked and the walk to the lake is beautiful, even in the late fall with barely any leaves left on the trees. We spent a peaceful and restorative two nights, and look forward to doing so again.

We had an absolutely lovely, relaxing time at Mike's cabin this weekend. The cabin is the perfect blend of rustic and cozy, with many thoughtful little amenities that made us feel at home right away and eliminated the stress of packing compared to traditional tent camping. We were lucky enough to book with fall colours in full force and were treated to stunning sunset views both nights. With enough hiking trails and wilderness to explore to your heart's content, there was plenty of opportunity to mix in some adventure. We are eagerly looking forward to coming back soon and experiencing what winter at the cabin has to offer!

My partner and I are so refreshed after our stay at the wicked awesome Cliffside Cabin. The place was breathtaking and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Secluded in the treetops with nature, a super comfy bed, warm breezy quarters, hammocks, solitude, badminton, and all the little thoughtful things you could need for a comfortable, stress-free stay - it was a dream. It's the thoughtful details and great intro to the cabin that put us at ease. Mike was patient, showed us how to use the stoves, gave great instructions so we easily found our way. An awesome place and awesome host! We loved it here & will be back :)

Such an impressive homestead that Jennie and family have created. Beautiful, quiet farmland with so many ammenities to choose from. I was traveling through on a road trip so it was amazing to find a place outside of the city to stay that was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. I enjoyed the Leo cabin with my dog and Jennie and family were very welcoming and accommodating. They set me up after a long day of traveling with a great sauna and cold plunge with great touches like eucalyptus and camomile tea. I enjoyed a quiet fire afterwards which set me up for a great nights sleep. I would highly recommend a stay at Agape Gardens!"

We loved our mini getaway at Mike’s secluded little cabin! We had so much fun as a family, the spot was beautiful. It was well maintained but still felt like you were in the woods, which you truly are! The view from the cabin is so pretty, you can watch the sunset over the hills from the porch or the bed. All the amenities we needed were available and then some. Everything was clean and cozy. We felt very much at home. Mike is an excellent host and we would definitely book again! Bonus points that our dog got to have fun too!

We loved our stay apart from the fact that it was very very hot du ring out trip, small curtains in the Windows would definitely help! If we had known, we would have brought something to put in the windows to block the Sun to enter, escpecially in the morning. Everything was clean and there is everything you need for your stay. It's a great peaceful place to enjoy and relax. We appreciated being able to go to the two nearby national parks, Silver Lake and Sharbot Lake. The owners are kind and accessible. Our stay was fantastic! The perfect mix of rustic private comforts with all the amenities. We loved being able to have a private hike to the little lake. The place was peaceful and the views were great. Mike was super welcoming and friendly and did a great job making his property into a special getaway. Having a fire under the stars was lovely too with firewood and water to put it out when we were done. We would definitely recommend this to others who enjoy nature!
