We had the best weekend at Shelley's Hawkins Retreat. Hawkins Retreat is situated in a wood lot surrounded by waving fields of corn. The two camping sites were beautifully maintained and located on trimmed grass each with a firepit and outhouse. Free firewood is thoughtfully provided. The Port Albert public beach on Lake Huron is 10 minutes away and quite lovely. Spent the day there and met a nice couple, Josh and Steph who it turned out were camping at the second Hawkins Retreat camp site. Wish we were there for longer and definitely plan to return someday soon. Thanks Shelley for a memorable weekend!

Great little community. I was only there 8 hours and everyone was super friendly. I arrived after 8p, set up my tent in their open space between two RVs, used their facilities and slept soundly. My dog was welcomed, too.

Michelle is an excellent hostess! She greeted us and helped get the fire started and was super friendly! The place is amazing. Large field to camp and the sounds of nature are all you here - so peaceful. Very clean washroom facilities with indoor toilet and big indoor shower or outdoor shower if you prefer. 10 minute drive to Ipperwash Beach. I would definitely recommend this place.

I was on a motocamping trip and found Matthew’s camp. Great spot, super close to everything one could need. Matthew went over and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. 11/10 for Matthew! As is the case on motocamping, it’s hard to have everything on the bike. The proximity to local shops makes this a perfect spot! Will be returning on my next road trip.

This is our longest site on the West side and fire pit is at the rear. Grade is about 2 degrees down to the northeast.

My son and I tented for a night on one of Matthew's sites. The sites are private and surrounded with trees. The location is good, and the sites farthest from the road were relatively quiet. Matthew was a good host and called to make sure had everything we needed. We plan to return with the rest of the family.
