This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. The lake warms up quickly in the spring and is great to swim in. There is a cabin to sleep in and many camping items are provided, like a Coleman stove, tables, dishes, and a screen shelter. You will have access to the dock and a large fire pit area which are part of the owner’s cottage on the property. There will be a port-a-potty on site. Lake Townsend is close to several conservation areas and 12 minutes to the quaint town of Markdale with several shops, a bakery, and a large grocery store. The city of Owen Sound is 35 minutes away. Harrison Park and Inglis Falls are huge attractions in the area. Each area has its own beauty and the hiking path between the two is quite spectacular. Parts of the famous hiking trail, The Bruce Trail, are also easily accessible from Townsend Lake. But once you get settled in, you may just want to rest and relax at the lake! We loved Gillian and Jim’s property. Our stay could not have been better. Their hospitality and kindness went above and beyond. Their attention to the little things made all the difference. They aim to please by exceeding all expectations, more than any other host we have experienced. The three of us were very comfy and had lots of fun after dark by the fire and inside playing games. We got lucky with clear skies and sun. The stars were out and the sun in the morning was glorious. We only had time for one night but it felt like so much more. We will certainly be booking again and highly recommend to anyone looking to connect with Nature and relax.

Joan was very thoughtful! Each child was left a gift of bubbles which brought them joy! Her banana bread was so delicious, and much appreciated. She also loaned us a can opener and a charge chord which was super helpful! Her trails were well marked and very easy to navigate. She has a lot of water toys to enjoy!

The cabin was small but wide enough to fit 3 people (and a dog), it wasnt too cold in the cabin and electric source is provided for. Accommodations were extremely clean, all modern conveniences available were an excellent bonus (mini fridge, cellphone charger, overhead fan, lighting and room heater) and the property was beautiful and tranquil. Had an excellent and relaxing stay. My dog loved his swim times in the creek and I enjoyed waking up to the sound of it in the morning. Also enjoyed some of the wildlife sights and sounds: humming birds, cows, fish, coyote howls at night. Wonderful and helpful hosts.
