There are four acres of woods to explore right beside Townsend Lake, a small, quiet lake perfect for canoeing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The lake warms up quickly in the spring and is great to swim in. There is a cabin to sleep in and many camping items are provided, like a Coleman stove, tables, dishes, and a screen shelter. You will have access to the dock and a large fire pit area which are part of the owner’s cottage on the property. There will be a port-a-potty on site. Lake Townsend is close to several conservation areas and 12 minutes to the quaint town of Markdale with several shops, a bakery, and a large grocery store. The city of Owen Sound is 35 minutes away. Harrison Park and Inglis Falls are huge attractions in the area. Each area has its own beauty and the hiking path between the two is quite spectacular. The best place to end our camping for the summer, peaceful and quiet it was raining and cold but we still had a great time, we manage to canoe even windy, rode the bike and kayak the day we left, the bunkie its so cute and clean plus a welcome treat from the great host Margaret. Amazing experience. Me and my partner stayed for three days in early September and it was such a cozy and comfortable stay. Is clean private and perfect for people that love the outdoors. Indoor wood fire was a great way to stay warm and made for amazing ambiance. Jake made the experience super easy and I would go back in a heartbeat.

My partner and I really enjoyed our stay in the main cabin. We were able to use the kayaks to explore the lake, we built a nice fire, cooked on the outdoor grill, stargazed and went birding on the property. It was very serene. Margaret was very kind and welcoming as well. We highly reccomend this rental.

Great spot for a short getaway. The lake is peaceful and perfect for kayaking, being able to utilize the neighbour's floating dock in the middle of the lake was a nice bonus as it was perfect for swimming and relaxing in the heat of the day. For any hikers, the Bruce trail is only about 20 minutes away. Would recommend Hoggs Falls conservation area as an access point, which also has lots of shorter looped hike options and is a nice little side trip. Plenty of firewood provided and the port-a-potty is the deluxe model.

We were fortunate to have Margaret’s property all to ourselves and loved the serene quiet of Townsend lake! From other reviews, sounds like Margaret is lovely host when on the property, which we didn’t experience first hand. It’s in an ideal location, close to charming towns and beautiful nature. And the lake was perfect for kayaking, there’s even a dock you can boat to for swimming! Margaret provided everything you’d need very thoughtfully. Just keep in mind, there’s no running water or electricity so pack smart!

Jake was a great host! He was friendly and showed us around the chalet when we first arrived. The chalet was very well maintained with all the basic amenities needed for glamping. The site was very private and the property was beautiful. We brought our dog along and he had the time of his life being able to be off leash the entire time. Highly recommend, we will be returning.

Margaret was a warm and friendly host. She helped us before we came, answered all our questions, and stayed helpful even after we arrived. The bunkie was cozy and easy to sleep in. They offered fun games both indoors and outdoors. There was lots of firewood, so we could enjoy a bonfire at night. This is a lovely place—quiet, welcoming, and full of good things. 3 nights at Chapelwood Chalet

We had the best time here! Jake met us on arrival to show us a few things and was so kind in giving us from fresh garlic he had grown and some home made strawberry jam (which was incredible)! The chalet its self did not disappoint it was so well equipped and clean! So many times we have gone places and felt like they were cleaner when we left than upon arrival so this was amazing! The shower was 10/10 and a nice treat it worked perfectly. This chalet really has it all, peace and quiet, beautiful trails and views, comfy bed, space inside and dog friendly! Jake was so lovely and attentive and really makes you feel at home, you can tell the care he has for this space everywhere you look. We are already planning when we can come back up again as this will be a repeat spot we come to! Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us and the pups!

The property is situated on a lovely little lake, and it was so quiet at night. Depending on how picky you are, you may want your own pillows... But we did, so no issues there!
