FREE FIREWOOD FOR LIMITED TIME: I have more split oak firewood than I know what to do with. While it lasts, campers can take as much as they need for free. The wood is piled at the site.
Our homestead is home to our family, chickens, and a livestock guardian dog.
We also have a small orchard and a garden.
Most of our 12+ acres are wooded and our property backs up to thousands of acres of public forest land owned by Clemson University. A trail connects our backyard to the main network of hiking/mountain biking trails in Clemson Forest. For those familiar with the forest, our property is in the vicinity of Wildcat Technical, Wounded Road, and Chainbreaker trails.
As private and wooded as our property is, we are only 10-15 minutes from downtown Clemson and less than 10 minutes from the small towns of Central and Six Mile. Lakes Hartwell and Keowee are also short drives.
We currently offer a single campsite, which can accommodate several tents or a camper van. Our campsite features a composting toilet outhouse, and water is available from spigots at our house. Though fairly close to our house, the campsite has a very private feel due to being completely surrounded by a hardwood forest.

Because the property naturally offers ample deadfall for firewood, we do not provide or sell pre-packaged bundles. Please keep this in mind if there has been recent rainfall, as the downed wood may be damp.

Jen and Joe moved to the South Carolina Upstate in 2023 and discovered they were within minutes of the Foothills Trail. The trail is 76.2 miles of waterfalls, rivers, and mountains stretching from Oconee State Park to Table Rock State Park. As soon as the oldest child moved out of his room above the garage, we started hosting thru-hikers hostel-style. Fair warning: it’s an “open concept” bathroom, true studio style. Great for one person but could be awkward for two.

Our property is located in Northern Pickens Co. of South Carolina.
Plenty of trails, boating, biking in the area or just sit under your awning and enjoy the wildlife.
Important please read!
There is not evening shade in July and August, However, there are shady spots very close to the camp site that you can enjoy. Where your camper sits the Sun goes down at the front of the camper. It is typically not an issue until mid-July and August. If you need additional details, please contact me.
There are two homes near the camp site. The one behind the site is our home. Just me and my wife, currently no pets. The other home is a small white farmhouse that I currently rent to close friends. Chris and his wife and two well behaved kids. The kind of neighbors' people dream of! In five years of renting this site I have only had one couple that felt uncomfortable with the homes on our driveway. They chose not to stay, and I refunded them. It is very safe here and secluded from the main road. Look at all of the pictures to make sure this is the spot for you. Thanks

Fishing and Tent Camping on a beautiful privately owned naturally spring feed 2.5 Acre pond. Pond fully stocked with Catfish, Yellow Carp, Buffalo Carp, Bass, and Brim. We do allow eating size catfish under 5lbs to be taken from lake. Large catfish and all other types of fish are catch and release only. No fishing license required. Typically caught fish weigh in at 20lbs plus. Some catfish as large as 80lbs. Enjoy peacefully fishing all night with your friends and family on a lighted fully stocked pond. Each campsite has its own fire pit so you are welcome to bring firewood and enjoy cooking out or having smores by the fire.

Camp Moondog is a 36-acre forested retreat in beautiful Greenville, South Carolina, featuring two private campsites thoughtfully tucked into the woods. Flanked on both sides by the Saluda River—with nearly half a mile of river frontage—our property is a must-book for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone craving a peaceful getaway filled with woods, water, and fresh air.
Just across the river (or a quick 5-minute drive) is Dolly Cooper Park, a favorite for disc-golf enthusiasts and families exploring the local trails. Even better, Camp Moondog sits only 10 minutes from world-renowned Downtown Greenville—famous for its incredible restaurants, festivals, boutique shopping, and lively social scene. Here, you can enjoy an “off-the-grid” experience without giving up convenience: food delivery is still just a tap away, and last-minute essentials are an easy drive.
At Camp Moondog, our philosophy is simple: provide a carefree, clean, and natural environment for a relaxing camping experience. If we’re available, we’re happy to use our ATVs to help transport your gear to any of the campsites—just give us at least a day’s notice so we can plan to meet you.
Because the property naturally offers ample deadfall for firewood, we do not provide or sell pre-packaged bundles. Please keep this in mind if there has been recent rainfall, as the downed wood may be damp.

Jen and Joe moved to the South Carolina Upstate in 2023 and discovered they were within minutes of the Foothills Trail. The trail is 76.2 miles of waterfalls, rivers, and mountains stretching from Oconee State Park to Table Rock State Park. As soon as the oldest child moved out of his room above the garage, we started hosting thru-hikers hostel-style. Fair warning: it’s an “open concept” bathroom, true studio style. Great for one person but could be awkward for two.

This RV site is on our property where we first lived in a mobile home.
We love camping and thought what a great place for a quite retreat.
So we made the site into a full hook up RV camp site.
Beautiful location with a view of Table Rock located in the Historic Oolenoy Valley.
Our property is located in Northern Pickens Co. of South Carolina.
Plenty of trails, boating, biking in the area or just sit under your awning and enjoy the wildlife.
Important please read!
There is not evening shade in July and August, However, there are shady spots very close to the camp site that you can enjoy. Where your camper sits the Sun goes down at the front of the camper. It is typically not an issue until mid-July and August. If you need additional details, please contact me.
There are two homes near the camp site. The one behind the site is our home. Just me and my wife, currently no pets. The other home is a small white farmhouse that I currently rent to close friends. Chris and his wife and two well behaved kids. The kind of neighbors' people dream of! In five years of renting this site I have only had one couple that felt uncomfortable with the homes on our driveway. They chose not to stay, and I refunded them. It is very safe here and secluded from the main road. Look at all of the pictures to make sure this is the spot for you. Thanks

Fishing and Tent Camping on a beautiful privately owned naturally spring feed 2.5 Acre pond. Pond fully stocked with Catfish, Yellow Carp, Buffalo Carp, Bass, and Brim. We do allow eating size catfish under 5lbs to be taken from lake. Large catfish and all other types of fish are catch and release only. No fishing license required. Typically caught fish weigh in at 20lbs plus. Some catfish as large as 80lbs. Enjoy peacefully fishing all night with your friends and family on a lighted fully stocked pond. Each campsite has its own fire pit so you are welcome to bring firewood and enjoy cooking out or having smores by the fire.

Note: Due to sites being located directly on pond, some areas are 15ft deep and not recommend suitable for small children.

We met one of the hosts, Mike, as soon as we arrived. He was incredibly welcoming and even helped us carry our gear down to the campsite. The location by the river was beautiful. Don and Stephanie are amazing hosts. Kept up with updates and were there to answer any questions we had. The site was all set up when we arrived, even fresh flowers on the picnic table. Such a great way to feel invited and welcome. Having the option to pay for ready to go firewood was also a wonderful experience. We have a family of six, 2 under 5 and this was very helpful. You can see Don and Stephanie take care of the camping area, it was very clean and even had a grate for cooking on fire. They also provided shovel and sand to put it out. Definitely made things easier and more relaxing to take in the nature around. We hope to visit Don and Stephanie's place soon.

The farm/campground was lovely and so peaceful. There was plenty of room to set up and still feel secluded. Lots of picnic tables to sit, eat, read a book, or chill. My dog loved all the space and grass and hills and I loved the treehouse! The people were also super kind and welcoming. I felt 100% safe and will most definitely come back here (I bet the fall is beautiful here)!!

I highly recommend this camp site. It is minutes from the downtown area, but still far enough away for outdoor seclusion. Very quiet, clean, and the environment itself was fantastic. Being my kids first time camping was a big deal for me and this spot provided all the stops for a great child-hood memory with their parents. The Saluda river runs along all sites (including a nice cabin) and can be heard through the light rapids just a short walk away. Mike was really hospitable in taking the time to not only transport our gear to the site, but to show us some of the best “hangout spots” near the water. Excellent place for tubing and swimming in the warmer months, and we will be definitely returning for that. My kids absolutely loved it and of all the many outdoor excursions that I have taken them on they have repeatedly said this was the best one. They literally had NOTHING negative to say about it. If you do not visit here, whether an experienced camper or not, you’re missing out for sure. If I could leave 10 stars I would.

We had the best time staying on the lakeside deck! It was big enough to set up our relatively large tent and still have plenty of room to relax on the Adirondack chairs. We had our dog with us, and setting up a baby gate at the stairs helped us all enjoy the deck together with less worries of him straying too far. He had the best time playing with Baxter in the field behind the tiny houses! The distillery was also a blast. We can’t wait to come back again and bring some friends!

So, I'm going to make this a positive review, because I had a great time there and the folks that worked at the Golden Grove Farm & Brew were really nice, accommodating, and helpful. Heck, I even ended up joining their yearly mug club while I was there. However, no one there knew that they were using Hipcamp, or what that was. They thought that they were only using Harvest Host. Hipcamp has 4 active sites that were supposed to be away from the brewery with picnic tables and fire rings, but that area was closed, or not open yet, I couldn't get a definitive answer on that. Either way, there were road cones blocking the entrance to where those were located the whole time I was there. I booked site #4 for five days, but I just ended up sleeping in their parking lot. This wasn't a huge deal for me, but it wasn't what I reserved and paid for. I will say, that place is spitting distance from the interstate, and I could hear road noise from tractor trailers hitting their J-brakes basically turning my van into a sub-woofer. If I parked towards the back, closer to the disc golf and dumpster, it wasn't as bad. Anyway, I sent the owner, who runs the Hipcamp stuff himself, a message on the 11th, and today, the 17th, he still has never bothered to reply. So, end story, I had a great time at the brewery hanging out, the beer was good, I met a lot of cool people, I will go back (since I joined the mug club), but it was very disconnected, concerning Hipcamp, and no one knew what was going on.

My husband and I stayed here in a 33’ motorhome with a Toad and bikes. We had a spacious level gravel pad to park on. Jason showed up right after we arrived to help us get parked. Of note- the RV is 12’ 7” tall and we could not get backed down into the spot due to tree limbs. Jason then directed us to utilize the grass to get into the space. He made sure we found our hookups and since electrical was a distance away he provided an extra cord.
It was a nice property to off leash dogs and enjoy sunsets. We love to e-bike so enjoyed numerous miles on the Swamp Rabbit Trail getting clear into Greenville and back along with the country roads. Jason shared best back country roads to connect with trail.
Speaking of country…there are chickens next door that will-start crowing around 2am. Not the fault of Jason but just an fyi. It was bothersome at first but we kinda got used to it after 5 nights.
Jason is very pleasant, helpful and cares about his property and guests. I would recommend his place if you want to bike or hike as there are a lot of nice options in the area.

A truly healing stay. I traveled from Charleston to Greenville to revisit some meaningful spots and say goodbye to old memories before moving. This campsite was not only affordable but felt incredibly safe which was important since my husband was on a work trip and I was camping with just my dog. I’m so thankful for this location, it was exactly what I needed. It was a camping experience but near the city.
