The Stonefield Gazebos has 3 luxurious units on a beautiful 100 + acre piece of heaven. Our original Lakeside Gazebo is steps from our private lake with its own dock. The White Oaks Gazebo is in our old white oak forest and The Cedars is in our Cedar forest beside a stream and river.
Each of these 3 luxurious units are not in close proximity to each other. We designed it this way in order to give our guests the utmost privacy. Each gazebo has its own chic and private outhouse with shower area.
All gazebos have beautiful beds with comfy and ultra soft bedding. They are equip with everything you should need from plates, cutlery, BBQ utensils, tea kettle, coffee french press, wine glasses, cups etc. There is a propane BBQ with a side burner ready to cook your meals.
There is a dock where you will find the canoes, a kayak, paddles and life jackets. If you paddle out to the middle of the lake you will find a raft with 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella on it. Bring some drinks and snacks, because once there, you will not want to leave. Our curious loons will no doubt swim up close to say hello. Enjoy!!
PLEASE NOTE: This retreat does not have electricity. However, a small, silent portable power station is available in each accommodation for guests who wish to charge their phones, laptops and small electrical devices.
***This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc, or try to sneak them in. This applies to service animals as well unfortunately. Just because different terms are used to describe the same thing, a dog is a dog etc, whether it is your pet or a service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds, we ask that you please respect this.
We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog or other animal would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience and impacting it for other guests.
This is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourselves, disconnect from the grid and stresses of everyday life. It's a pretty special place and a one of a kind experience.
Historical Significance of the property
When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place.
It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970's, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

Canal Lake is a lake of Ontario, Canada, situated in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
HISTORIC MONUMENTS
The "Hole in the Wall" bridge was built in 1905 and is also known as the Canal Lake Concrete Arch Bridge. It was designed by the federal Department of Railways and Canals. It is located on Centennial Park Road on the southwest side of the Trent Severn Waterway bridge, northeast of Bolsover. The bridge was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988.

Canal Lake is a medium size lake with a large diversity of fishing spots. There is a variety of fish available including largemouth bass, pike and muskellunge (muskie) and an abundance of panfish.

Mitchell Lake is known for its peaceful atmosphere, gorgeous sunsets, and fishing, however, it is a weedy lake. It is fantastic for wading or playing in the shallow water by the dock, canoeing, paddle boating, relaxing on floaties, etc., however, it is not ideal for distance swimming. We recommend that guests bring water shoes or crocs.

Canal Lake is a lake of Ontario, Canada, situated in the City of Kawartha Lakes.
HISTORIC MONUMENTS
The "Hole in the Wall" bridge was built in 1905 and is also known as the Canal Lake Concrete Arch Bridge. It was designed by the federal Department of Railways and Canals. It is located on Centennial Park Road on the southwest side of the Trent Severn Waterway bridge, northeast of Bolsover. The bridge was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1988.
FISHING
Canal Lake is a medium size lake with a large diversity of fishing spots. There is a variety of fish available including largemouth bass, pike and muskellunge (muskie) and an abundance of panfish.

Mitchell Lake is known for its peaceful atmosphere, gorgeous sunsets, and fishing, however, it is a weedy lake. It is fantastic for wading or playing in the shallow water by the dock, canoeing, paddle boating, relaxing on floaties, etc., however, it is not ideal for distance swimming. We recommend that guests bring water shoes or crocs.

Dale's yurt-style tent was an excellent spot for us to meet up and rest for one night before our canoe trip in the Kawartha Highlands. Dale was quick to respond to my questions and went out of his way to provide wine glasses. The electric fireplace was a welcome feature on a cool night. We made breakfast at the well-supplied outdoor kitchen. The light at the outhouse was a nice touch, though it could have used some cleaning. Thanks a bunch, Dale.

We had a wonderful time here. The place was private, beautiful, clean and cozy. Dale was an amazing host - super responsive, flexible and a pleasure to deal with. If the outdoor shower setup and the outhouse can be fixed up a bit that would make it even more comfortable, but overall it was a great value for the price and I would 100% recommend this.

I can ABSOLUTELY say that my stay with my son at Tara’s piece of heaven on earth…known to most as…land…was wayyyy more than what I hoped for!!!
There was so much going on around us…and you know what…we didn’t even notice a thing going on…unless we wanted to notice something going on! Plain n Simple!!!
We were on a FAMILY owned PARADISE…with amazing people all around…no matter which way you poke a stick at it!
Peter…you’re a great man and just from our talks…I want you to know that I will forever be at your beck and call…WHEREVER and WHENEVER you need ANY sort of help!

Dale's site is an ideal getaway for a couple who wants to go camping somewhere secluded but is no longer comfortable in a pop-up tent, on the floor with your own amenities.
Dale's site is basic, but in the best way. The tent, the amenities and especially the bed were quite spacious and comfortable. It has very thing you need ( but food. That's all you need to bring).
I highly recommend The site if you want to go Glamping on a budget and you're transitioning from regular camping to something more special and accommodating. Very well worth the price and will definitely book again..

Weekend Trip to Ranger on Rice!
Had a great stay! Peaceful, rejuvenating simple days.
Pros:
+ The RV is well furnished and comfortable. Sink, flush toilet, full fridge and even microwave!
+ Close to the lake, great if you have a boat.
+ Good fishing, little weedy but a good time.
+ Everything was clean.
+ Everyone was very friendly and accommodating!
Cons:
- The space is quite open and not very private if you're hoping for a "camping" feeling experience.
- The trees are by the lake so there isn't any shade or shelter. I'd recommend bringing a canopy or beach tent.
- The RV is older and not completely bug proof, our swatter got plenty of use.
Overall quite pleased and highly recommend staying here. Consider the RV a significant upgrade to a tent, get out on the lake if you can, you'll have a great time!

Weekend Trip to Foresthill Retreat
We had a great stay at Forest Hill Retreat! The tent was lovely, well-equipped, and kept us warm and dry all night, even through some rain. It had everything we needed, though we did wish there was a small kettle inside. Since it rained in the morning, we couldn’t make coffee, and the gazebo shelter didn’t have the proper cover, so it didn’t provide much rain protection.
The site itself is beautiful and surrounded by lots of trees, but you can still hear a fair bit of car noise from nearby roads. It didn’t ruin the experience, but it’s something to be aware of if you’re looking for total quiet.
One of our favorite parts of the stay was watching movies under the stars by the fire—it was such a cozy and unique experience that really made the trip special! Overall, Forest Hill Retreat is a beautiful and relaxing getaway, and with a few small improvements, it would be absolutely perfect.

This is an amazing place. Me and my 8 year old boy had an awesome father son camping and fishing trip. Sonia is a great host and the property is beautiful and quiet and secluded.
The gazebos have pretty much everything you need.
The bass fishing is about as good as I have had.

Meridian is a very welcoming host to her sweet campsite which was just as described. I felt safe there which is important for a single female traveler. She gave great guidance as to where I could go locally (within 5 min walk or drive) to enjoy views of the water and to the local beach where I enjoyed a gorgeous sunset. Yes the train rattled through during the night, so come prepared or let it lull you to sleep. Sweet town close by with pubs and a coffee shop and a pharmacy. Such a sweet way to start my journey.

Lovely place! Definitely worth the price. Beautiful views of the lake, fields, and farm. Fishing and swimming was so fun. The trailer and matress was very comfortable. They have fans in the trailer, but If you open the windows, there is a lovely cross breeze. There is a microwave for convenience and a fridge. They also provide a BBQ outside. I did bring my Coleman stove too. I could have easily stayed there for longer, wish I did! The owners were so friendly and accommodating. Everything was amazing!!! I would DEFINITELY go again!

Absolutely amazing. Very peaceful and comfortable, good mixture of shaded areas for the heat but also nice sunny patches for soaking in the sun.
Kitchen has everything you’d need, and saves so much packing and hassle when staying here.
The projector and dvd laptop player is great, and is an awesome way to enjoy the night beside the fire.
Firewoods not available, but there’s very cheap firewood just across the street and the people selling it are very friendly.
The tent is very clean and has a lot of extra blankets, pillows, and even a few inflatable mattresses.
Super close to some beautiful beaches and very clear water.
Seriously awesome space, 10/10.

This site is only 1.5hours east from Toronto, so its good for weekenders. Yurt is good size for our family of 4 (2adults, 2kids). In the yurt, there are a mini fridge, dvd discs, players, a projector, books and some boardgames. Sleeping arrangement is...a full size bed, 2 airmattresses and bedding, extra blankets, a sleeping bag and pillows.
Outdoor space, it has big green space to play soccer or freesby if you wish. Also there's an outdoor kitchen, shower and a outhouse. Kitchen comes with a propane bbq grill with a side stove. There are several pots and pans but you might wanna bring some cutleries and cups.
Kids loved watching movies outdoor by the campfire at night.
The site has many small lakes around that you can drive to, the closest one is 4mins away Burleigh falls. Our little ones enjoyed fishing and swimming there. We got to visit a cute little town Buckhorn, 15mins away. On the way back we stopped at lakefield beach, it was perfect for kids to swim.
I think it could've been better if we went in the fall. We were eaten alive by mosquitoes even with the multiple layers of repellent. So, be prepared if you go in the middle of summer.
You will hear the traffics going by at night, but you will have all the convenience being close to the city.

I love trains so the train close by was amazing .
The camping spot backs onto a ravine . There's a creak a min walk down the road . There's 2 known beaches both in walking distance and an amazing hidden gem of a beach around the rocks . Don't be afraid to explore the second beach and do a bit of rock climbing. The beach is breathtaking.
The small town is very close to the Big Apple. And such nice people in town . The food is 5 star in town .
The bathroom situation if your not used to going to the bathroom outside. . This is not the spot for you
I had to leave early as I hurt myself on an adventure. But I wold go back I had an amazing time very peaceful

We had a lovely time in the Igloo. The location is beautiful and the water was clean and swimmable. The zip line and the slide were pretty fun too. We oiled have loved if the toilet was not beside the bed, it doesn’t smell lovely while in bed. Nonetheless we had a lovely time. Cleaning guy crept up on us before 11 am check out and scared the bejesus out of us. Maybe coming after 11 am would be a nice touch. The sound of the river while sleeping was a plus ! Bring a fan if you are visiting in the summer it is hot. The sauna is lovely and close to the water so you can plunge when it’s hot;)
