Dunchurch is well known for its amazing trails such as the Wild Cat ATV Trail only 10 mins from the front door of the Cabin. We are happy to allow you to use the area at your leisure however, please note you must have your own ATV’s and insurance for riding recreational/motorized vehicles, we do not provide coverage for this. If you are considering guides for ATV Trail riding, please let us know. We are happy to make separate bookings for this on weekdays or even weekends. There is an Outhouse just steps from the Cozy Cabin front door to be used for your bathroom needs (just note there is no running water in either the Outhouse or the Cabin). There is a wash station beside the Outhouse for cleaning up, washing dishes or meal prep. Loads of private parking for vehicle(s), recreational toys or other. Onyx’s Haven comprises of a 50 year old cedar log cabin situated on just under 400 acres of serene forested land that wraps around Duncan Lake in Nipissing Township. This solar power supported off grid property has allowed our family to escape from the hectic pace that fills our everyday life. A place to totally disconnect and unwind without the bother of email, social media and whatever else often pulls us away from what’s most important in our lives, making meaningful connections with those most important to us. And for times we need to work we can connect through the cabin's satellite internet while the kids play. Being truly off grid also means NO running water, instead we harvest rain water for general use, and the lake is just steps away too. You need to BRING drinking water. Our off grid log cabin features NO indoor plumbing, instead have two charming outhouses. The 1km gravel driveway does have a few protruding rocks, slow down, enjoy the fresh air and drive with care. [Absolutely NO HUNTING OR TRAPPING permitted on the property]. CABIN FEATURES: 3-bedrooms comfortably sleeping 6 (Linens NOT provided), kitchen with a modern propane stovetop, fridge + freezer, living room with indoor wood stove for cooler nights (a bundle of stove wood complementary, extra available for purchase), BBQ, outdoor fire pit, open deck with picnic table, satellite internet (for a fee) and charming outhouses. As we are located in beautiful northern Ontario, do EXPECT bugs. The cabin was charming and cozy, it came with various board games to pass the time and a telescope to enjoy the stars at night. The hammocks or what my partner and I call the nest was relaxing. We also had a golden retriever visit us on our 2nd and last day in the cabin. She was very friendly. If ever she does wander off on your visit, its the neighbor's dog, she is not lost, she's just enjoying the nature like the rest of us.

Weekend Trip to Cozy Cabin in the Woods

My wife and I spent Thanksgiving weekend at Sabrina’s cabin and absolutely loved it. The location is perfect—just a 10-minute drive from Rosseau, where we found a fantastic general store that had everything we needed (including firewood). We took our dogs to a nearby beach, grabbed great pizza at Rosseau Pizzeria on the boardwalk, treated ourselves to gelato, and browsed a charming antique shop in town. The cabin itself was amazing—extremely clean, cozy, and full of personality. Sabrina has thought of everything: a full-sized fridge, coffee maker, electric heater that kept the cabin nice and toasty, and even a whole upper loft we didn’t end up needing because the pullout couch on the main floor was perfect for us. Our big dog and mini poodle had plenty of space to stretch out too. The outhouse was surprisingly spacious and spotless, stocked with toilet paper and featuring a working sink with running water both inside and outside for washing dishes. We spent most of our time by the fire pit, which was large enough for a group and surrounded by ample seating. Between the two wooden picnic tables, the big deck, and the covered area with hammocks, there were endless spots to relax, cook, and enjoy the outdoors. Even though the cabin is just off a road, the trees and forest create a real sense of seclusion and peace—you quickly forget there’s any traffic nearby. Sabrina was extremely kind and welcoming, and we couldn’t have asked for a better host. We’d happily come back!

We had a great time at Light House Landing! We celebrated our 6th anniversary at the cabin and it was a great experience, we woke up every morning to a beautiful sunrise on the lake! Jim, Alyssa and Fran have created such a welcoming environment and were great hosts (like texting to tell us turtles were hatching on the beach one morning or showing us how to feed the chickadees). The cabins were very nice, clean and on the water. We would highly recommend this little slice of paradise

This cabin was the perfect little getaway for our artist retreat weekend! It's cozy inside and the space heater works very well! The outside has a lot of fun play structures and hammocks to let out your inner kid (or actual kids) and the twinkle lights add a touch of magic! I have been here a few times now and it keeps getting nicer every time! It shows that there is a lot of care and love that has gone into this place :) I highly recommend checking it out!

August 25 to 30th 2025 Second time up to Maple Rivers Log cabins, Sequin, Parry Sound. Was there last year. Cabin 3, Dariusz,s 3 cabins are set in a beautiful, serene setting surrounded by a mixed forest, of pines, maples, Birch..., they are off grid, nicely spaced , in the center a large community fire pit. Trails to follow to a deep gorge, shower, large fridge freezer to share with fellow hip camper,s, Large BBQ, outdoor sink, kitchen area to wash dishes. Some dishes to use. Garbage container. Pit toilet never smells. The host's friendly dog "Daisy" comes to play fetch with balls or sticks., Maple lake is 20 mins away as is Orrville general store. And Rousseau. Dariusz is very friendly host always willing to answer questions, fix any concerns. His wife is of great help as well. I highly recommend Maple Rivers Log Cabins, and will keep going back. Thank you Dariusz for your hospitality. Thanks for your company Daisy girl. And Tito, Daisy will teach you well. Blessings

I loved my stay at the cabin! Although there is no electricity from the grid, Dariusz uses propane and solar cells to equip the camp with a fridge/freezer, hot water, and light, which I really liked. I loved Daisy, their female Border Collie; she protects the visitors during the nights by sleeping under one of the cabins, and she is a lovely companion during the day! Bring a ball, she loves playing with other dogs with the ball. My dog and I really enjoyed our week there: fresh air, quiet and rustic place, lots of hiking opportunities around, and off-leash walks/play on the property. Will definitely return next year.

(Toilet that doesn't smell and works great, outdoor shower is to die for, large jugs of water with nozzles like a sink faucet) Makes everything feel like your off grid but still have amenities. Still feels so off grid and was just such a peaceful stay.

Great spot !! Very quiet, private and relaxing. We loved spending time on the porch rocking chairs. Bed is very comfortable, as is the futon. The outdoor shower worked out great. Cari provided us with a perfect amount of water. All questions were answered promptly. We ventured out to local spots including Santa’s village, Port Sydney Falls, Tall Trees restaurant and Bellys ice cream in Huntsville. Nice middle spot between Huntsville and Bracebridge. Highly recommend !!

Sabrina’s cabin is a place everyone must go! It’s super cozy and near so many hidden gems. We had an amazing time roasting marshmallows by the fire, relaxing in all the hammocks, and swimming in the lakes near by. Sabrina is also an amazing host. Responds super fast and always made sure that we felt comfortable. We will for sure come back again!!
