Being avid hikers ourselves, we realize that there are not a lot of accommodations just off the Bruce Trail. So our main goal is to assist hikers as they explore the Bruce Trail. Whether you are doing the ‘end-to-end ‘ in one go (Bravo!), or doing a more relaxed multi day hike, our little bunkie will be a welcome place to lay your head at the end of the day. Our forest bunkie is nestled in the woods, a few minutes walk off the trail, and conveniently located approximately at the half way point of the Caledon Hills section. You truly feel like you are one with nature here. At night you may hear the coyotes howling in the distance or hear the local raccoons out on their nightly stroll. You have complete privacy at the bunkie. However, if you need assistance our home isn’t too far away. Please note that it is an off-grid bunkie…which means no electricity! We do have lamps available in the bunkie, however bringing your own headlamp or flashlight is recommended. There is a cute, private outhouse w/ washbasin. We have an outdoor shower a little ways away from the bunkie site, with hot water. There is a double bed in the loft. The pull out couch on the main level also can be converted to a double bed. There is no running water at bunkie, however we will have some potable water provided. You will be met upon arrival. PLEASE NOTE: *There is a strict NO fire rule anywhere on the property. *There is a hill (w/some forest stairs) that you will have to navigate to get to bunkie site. Mono Mills is 6 minutes away w/ Starbucks, Tim Hortons, gas stations, pizza. Hockley Village is 7 minutes away, with the must visit Hockley Valley General Store. Orangeville is 15 mins away for all food and supplies you may need. We can assist w/ Bruce Trail (Caledon Hills Section) pick ups/ drop offs if we are available.

This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Weekend Trip to Rugby House Retreat

Thanks to Renee and Warren for having me at the Rugby Retreat for a solo stay to get out of the city. I stayed in “The Poor House” and would recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable “camp” experience. Everything you need to have a stress free getaway is here. MJ was an amazing host! She was very welcoming and very helpful during our stay. The bunkie was very clean and spacious as well had everything we needed. The bunkie was very close to the trail as well the land on which it was had a great view and was very well kept. It was accesible for us despite not driving which makes it ideal for anyone looking to get away from the city without the stress or driving or renting a car. We loved our stay and would do it again.

Weekend Trip to Forest Bunkie on Bruce Trail

I had a great experience booking Twila and Gren’s Forest Bunkie. Communication was friendly, stay instructions were clear, and the hosts met me when I arrived to guide me to the secluded bunkie location on their forested property. For anyone who appreciates their own retreat into natural spaces, as well as the comforts of amenities such as a shower, enclosed outhouse, and roofed accommodations, this is a perfect spot! There were thoughtful touches inside the bunkie, for example, non-slip strips on the loft ladder and a rule about outdoor and indoor footwear to ensure the bunkie floors stay grit-free. Just ask first to find out what’s there if you’re thinking of packing it yourself, such as towels, warm blankets, and large coffee/tea mugs (I’m a fan!). The bunkie was cozy, and the location is peaceful. It was an ideal space to connect to the sights and sounds of nature. A note to fellow hikers: I was lucky enough to have good weather the day I arrived, so in the late afternoon, I hiked a short distance along a tree-lined trail (the trailhead is by the bunkie) that led off the property to a section of the Bruce Trail, where I continued hiking and then doubled back before dark. For any BT through-hikers, I’d highly recommend booking a stay here during the Caledon Hills portion.

Beautiful cabin on the creek. Great swimming hole, water is clear enough to see turtles and fishies! They provide BBQ, firewood, phone chargers, drinking water, and many other useful amenities. 100% recommend!

Nice people- well maintained place- clean with all facilities. They have a beautiful island- close to nice parks and waterfronts. If you do not need power or shower, then a good private camping place.

MJ was an excellent and host, and made communication easy in preparation for my trip. The bunkie provided a lovely, private getaway. It was stocked with many supplies, cookware and other necessities! The outhouse was exceptionally well kept. It is very close to many access points of the Bruce trail, making a very convenient location wise. Overall a wonderful visit!

We had an amazing stay at this campsite. It was the best campsite we have visited in the last few years. The beautiful view and the sound of the flowing water made it a very peaceful and relaxing experience. The campsite had everything we needed, including a BBQ, heater, drinking water, and kitchen essentials. Our kids had a fantastic time swimming, playing badminton, enjoying the zip line, and playing the board games provided. The hosts were very friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which made our stay even more special. Overall, it was the perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. We will definitely come back next year and bring three of our friends' families with us. Highly recommended!

What a beautiful spot! The tipi is beautifully decorated with a very comfortable bed and warm duvet. There's a fire pit, barbecue, small kitchen area and plenty of seatting. Its decorated with cute little lights which make it all very cosy. The campsite is very private and sits in a stunning forest/small veggie area. The coyotes pass by at night which is also quite a special experience. Just lovely! Highly reccomend.

Weekend Trip to Bruce Trail Bunkie

We had a wonderful time at Bruce Trails! The bunkie is beautifully secluded from the main property, and we truly enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, stunning views, and being immersed in nature. The birdsong, the breeze, and the overall atmosphere made our stay even more special. I was a bit apprehensive about sleeping in the loft bed at first, but it turned out to be surprisingly comfortable! The only minor issue we encountered was with the outhouse bathroom. It felt a little dusty, and there were a few spider webs that could have been cleaned. Other than that, everything was great. The property had all the basic amenities we needed, including water, a grill, a campfire, firewood, and butane gas. Overall, it was a lovely experience, and we really enjoyed our stay!

My grandson and I really enjoyed our stay at White Pines Retreat! The cabin was attractive, clean, and comfortably laid out, and came with some lovely extras, including phone chargers, a Keurig, a zipline, and inflatable chairs for the lazy river. The owners know the area well. They are very responsive to any requests, helpful, and just genuinely nice people! We are looking forward to returning!
