Weekend Trip to Lakewood Cabins

We have the absolute best time staying at Micheals cabin this past weekend. He is a fantastic host, very welcoming (He even came to us to show us a brand new chick he was keeping warm in his jacket!) The cabins are lovely, have everything you need for a comfortable stay in the woods. The local area is beautiful and we made some amazing steaks over the fire. 10/10 would recommend to anyone needing a little affordable get away!

I loved my stay in Michael's Woodland Cabin. It was the perfect blend of tiny house living and camping. The outdoor bath under the stars and short hiking trail in the forest through lush ferns and moss made my stay even more special! Perfect spot to unplug completely (or even sneak in a little work while enjoying the view of the mountains and reliable internet, to boot). Add in the easy check-in/out, quick responses to questions and friendly host means I will be back!

Weekend Trip to Raylia Cottage Farm Stay

What a perfect stay! Michele was a lovely host and the cabin was in such a beautiful, peaceful spot. I loved the vibe of the cabin, cosy with the option to make a fire (loved chopping wood), and lots of cosy dvds' and vhs's to watch on the couch. The cabin also had its own privacy (its far enough from the main house & has its own driveway) which was perfect for us. It's located in a super convenient spot too, probably the best part of the island to stay - right next to a few cute shops, coffee carts and a restaurant while still being tucked away in the woods. Also next to a lovely hike. Would highly recommend!!!

Our stay at Woodland Cabin in Chilliwack was wonderful! The cabin was cozy, and surrounded by peaceful forest. Michael was a fantastic host — friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. We loved the quiet atmosphere and all the little touches that made it feel special. Highly recommend for anyone looking to relax and recharge!

Weekend Trip to An Experience!-Golden Ears Glamping

Greg and Shelly are extremely kind and have such a beautiful home! Very clean and LOTs of appliances and fun things to do in and on the property. They had dry firewood ready for use and the hottub was hot and well kept. We had hummingbird visitors and were able to go down to the river and see salmon swimming! We used the bbq that was full of propane also. We are returning guests and highly recommend visiting! They were so generous to invite us to stay longer past the check out time as there were no guests after us so we enjoyed being able to sleep in and pack up without rushing. Very happy to be up in such a gorgeous area. Don’t hesitate to book with them!

We had an amazing stay at Michael’s place! The cabin and the bathroom were super clean and well maintained, which made our stay very comfortable. The whole property is peaceful, surrounded by beautiful nature, and you can really feel the care and love put into every detail. Michael was such a kind and helpful host — friendly, responsive, and always making sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed sitting by the fire at night, watching the stars, and just relaxing in the quiet atmosphere. It was the perfect getaway from the city, and we’ll definitely come back again. Highly recommended!

The perfect 1 night getaway from the city. We are right for money right now but we wanted to get out of the city and Michael made that possible with his accessible pricing. He provided everything we needed so packing was light. The bathtub was a wonderful addition and both of us (both 6 foot plus) could fit comfortably inside. Will recommend!

We had a wonderful weekend getaway at Riverside Glamping. The hosts, Lisa and James were friendly and helpful without being intrusive. The site was exactly as described and all we needed to bring was food and personal items. The site itself was gorgeous and private. The yurt was beautifully done and very comfortable. We will be back for sure!

It's a really great place. The host was also very kind, and the atmosphere of the harmonious family was particularly nice. The glamping site has everything, and the shower and toilets, which were of great concern, were really clean. The glamping site was full of romance and the host was kind. The disadvantage is that the network doesn't work, but it's slow because there's Wi-Fi, but Internet access is possible. The bathroom is clean and the glamping site I thought was to sleep in a poor environment for a day, but this place was so nice! +) It's a pity that I couldn't say hello to three pugs in the morning. Django, Theodore, Zeus Bye Bye:)

My friend and I really loved this place. Facing the river view. The set up is reallly cute and cozy and they have everything prepared. Although the day we went was pouring but it was a really relaxing for us… The hosts are super friendly and nice !!!! I would love to come here again on the days that are not raining !!!

I loved glamping on Lisa and James’ land! They are wonderful hosts, and I felt very welcome and comfortable during my stay. The property is beautiful - right by the river with mountain views you can enjoy from your private deck. The tent was amazing too! It’s set amongst the trees, which provide perfect shade on a hot, sunny day. I had everything I needed to cook, relax, and enjoy myself.

Great private spot! The beach access was easy to get to! However it was very inconvenient that there was no outhouses to use and we had to bring our own toilets. Also was not given any direction to dispose of our waste when it was full, so had to haul it out. Lastly the outhouse was right outside our site and we kept getting wafts of outhouse smell… was not pleasant.

Where to go

Pinecone Burke Provincial Park

Up the old logging roads of Burke Mountain, Pinecone Burke Provincial Park offers opportunities for hiking and e-biking across natural trails or swimming and boating in Pitt Lake and Widgeon Creek. In the winter, try backcountry cross-country skiing or snowshoeing across the park. The only kind of camping allowed is primitive wilderness camping, so adventurous campers must remember to bring everything in (including their own water) and haul everything out. Pinecone Burke campers should also prepare for winter conditions without the use of campfires, which are prohibited. The park features marine access for boat-in-boat-out camping, hunting, and fishing with appropriate licenses.

Minnekhada Regional Park

Adjacent to Pitt-Addington marsh, Minnekhada Regional Park is a popular destination for trail hikers, birders, and wildlife viewing enthusiasts throughout the year. Campers enjoy cycling on paved roads and across Pitt River dykes. Tent campers, RVers, and glampers will find primitive campsites and modern ones with electrical hookups and water lines. Some even provide double and queen beds. Minnekhada is pet-friendly, so long as the pups are leashed and campers bring pet waste bags.

Colony Farm Regional Park

Camping near Colony Farm Regional Park gives quick access to fields, hedgerows, and wetlands to explore on foot or bike. Birding is a popular activity in the park, which hosts over 200 bird species. Take in the sights of wide open fields and towering mountains on the shores of the Coquitlam River, or ride a trusty steed through the marshes and cap the day with a picnic at the provided tables near the community gardens. Many nearby campgrounds offer waterside camping, accommodating RVers and tent campers alike with potable water, showerhouses, electrical hookups, and gravel or concrete pull-through pads. Campers with electric or hybrid vehicles in need of a charge can take advantage of the single charging station in the main parking lot, which is free to use with a two-hour time limit.

When to go

The best time to camp in Coquitlam is July or August, when average temperatures reach no higher than 23.5°C. Summer is the most popular time for visitors, so be sure to make a reservation in advance or get there early enough to snag a first-come, first-served site. Adventurous campers can brave the frigid, wet winters of Coquitlam with average highs of 5.6°C.
