Please use the second driveway, drive past the shop, and you'll see a building on the right. Feel free to pull up to the little porch—we aren't protective of the grass! At Hillwinds House, it’s all about taking a moment to disconnect from your busy life and reconnect with nature. Build a fire, read a book, brew some coffee, sweat in the sauna, prepare a nourishing meal, and watch the sun set over the valley in the west. We are excited to share our Alberta landscape with its beautiful sky, empty fields, and close up nature details. Hillwinds House is a cozy Nordic-inspired cabin located on the edge of the Meeting Creek valley. The cabin is nestled in the trees on a 5 acre piece of land. The cabin is completely off-grid with a wood burning stove inside to keep it warm. The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare meals: a gas stovetop, sink with gravity water faucet, and a YETI cooler stocked with ice packs to keep your food cool. To access the king sized bed in the loft, a sturdy ladder must be climbed (see photo). Loft and ladder are “use at your own risk.” A wood burning sauna is located just steps from the main house. Walk out on the wrap-around deck and light the fire in the sauna to get your sweat on. During the winter months, a snow bath is recommended for refreshment. (it feels so good!) We also have a handheld shower to rinse off with after the sauna. A wood-burning hot tub bathing area is available for bookings from May to October, and no hot tub is available in the winter months when it is too cold to change the water for each guest. There is a dry flush toilet inside the cabin (in its own bathroom) so there’s no need to freeze your butt off in an outhouse. Sanitary wipes and hands sanitizer are conveniently located in the bathroom with the wash basin in the nearby kitchen. As a guest at Hillwinds House, you will have full access to the entire 5 acre property. Enjoy the spacious deck with valley views, sit in the sauna at dusk and watch the wildlife walk by. (deer, white rabbits, moose, and coyotes) Put on your snow boots or skis and enjoy the trail that winds down the side of the hill towards the Meeting Creek townsite. When you book a stay at the cabin, we’ll send you a welcome booklet with a list of our favourite places to go and things to do locally. We’ll be a few miles away on our farm if you need anything during your stay at Hillwinds House.

We have 156 acres of incredible farm land for you to enjoy. The parking pad is right across from the house, to the left of the driveway. Back in or drive in, there's lots of room to do either. You are welcome to enjoy a campfire, we have lots of wood available. Let us know if you need the picnic table, sometimes we have it up by the house. Once you are settled in, take your time to walk around. You can birdwatch from your campsite, the feeders by the house are a busy bird haven. Walk to the gate and check out the pond and the grazing horses. Ask how to be safe as you walk in the pasture. Pet them if they agree to it, or walk down the trail into the forest. There are many trails to follow down there. You are welcome to use the firepit and picnic area in the bottom. Listen for the birds, we have many different sparrows, warblers and other birds that don't stop singing. If you are lucky, you might see some deer or great horned owls. The yard is open to the big sky. Watch storms come and go, see the stars and some nights you might see the northern lights. Bring your bug spray, the mosquitoes can be aggressive. Listen to the frogs, the coyotes and other country sounds. We have fresh eggs every day from our chickens and fresh veggies in season from our garden. Tricia and Austin the owners were so polite and accommodating. When we arrived they showed us to a site. The mosquitoes were in full force from the recent rain. Tricia ran back to her house and brought us her bug spray. Austin mowed the site and brought us free wood. We were allowed to let our dog to walk around unleashed as he's a good boy. They gave us their cell number and told us to call them if we need anything. The site was so quiet and private. Owners are polite and accommodating. We will deffinetly revisit in the near future.

Weekend Trip to Creek's Edge

We enjoyed our Creeks Edge, which started with a great beautiful tree lined drive only 25 minutes from the West end of the city. Rudy and Michelle were both kind hosts and explained the layout and workings of the facility well. It is a beauiful property! We camped at a very scenic tree sheltered spot at the elevated edge near the creek that Rudy showed us (Aha! Creeks Edge ;). Luckily so as we were all set up with our RTT, lunch tent and dinner cooked, when a strong thunderstorm came through and trees provided shelter from the wind and rain. My wife and I still had a great time, felt safe and got our camping fix which has been difficult being so busy. We always camp far out of the city but would stay at Creek's edge again to get the feeling, hopefully more than one night to relax even more and explore the site. Thanks very much Rudy and Michelle!

We had a wonderful weekend stay at Hidden Springs, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The property is peaceful, beautifully maintained, and the perfect place to relax and unwind while still offering plenty of activities for the whole family. Barbara is an exceptional host who truly goes above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome. She thought of every little detail to ensure we had a comfortable stay. When the mosquitoes became active in the evening, she proactively provided mosquito coils, and knowing we wanted to watch the World Cup, she even offered us her personal laptop so we wouldn’t miss the match. Her kindness, generosity, and genuine care for her guests made our stay even more memorable. A special mention goes to her friendly dog, Fox, who quickly became a favorite with our kids. Fox spent time playing with them, and they absolutely loved every moment. The trampoline was another huge hit, keeping the kids entertained for hours. One of the highlights of our stay was the sauna experience. It was incredibly relaxing and the perfect way to end the day. If you’re planning to stay at Hidden Springs, I highly recommend booking the sauna—it is absolutely worth it and adds a special touch to the overall experience. We left Hidden Springs feeling refreshed and already talking about coming back. Thank you, Barbara, for your outstanding hospitality and for creating such a warm, welcoming place for families to enjoy. We highly recommend Hidden Springs.

We had a great stay at R & M’s Hipcamp. The property was beautiful, peaceful, and had lots of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The campsite felt private and well maintained, making it the perfect place to unwind. What really stood out was the hospitality. R & M were incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, and M in particular went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and at home during our stay. Their friendliness and genuine care made the experience especially welcoming and memorable. As an added bonus, their cats were very friendly and always a joy to have around the property! Overall, we had an amazing experience and would highly recommend R & M’s Hipcamp to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway. We would happily stay here again.

My boyfriend and I had a very last minute booking but Barb was very kind and accommodating. We were lucky enough to have the whole space to ourselves well except for Barb’s dog, Fox, who is just the most affectionate and behaved companion out there. I would recommend booking the sauna it was very relaxing and for 2hrs it is quite worth the price, Barb even offered to let us shower in her house after if we wanted. The beds were very comfortable and provided plenty of warmth during the night. Overall it is a great site to book with lots of field and plenty of things to do.
