Build a fire, read a book, brew some coffee, sweat in the sauna, prepare a nourishing meal, and watch the sun set over the valley in the west. We are excited to share our Alberta landscape with its beautiful sky, empty fields, and close up nature details. Hillwinds House is a cozy Nordic-inspired cabin located on the edge of the Meeting Creek valley. The cabin is nestled in the trees on a 5 acre piece of land. The cabin is completely off-grid with a wood burning stove inside to keep it warm. The kitchenette has everything you need to prepare meals: a gas stovetop, sink with gravity water faucet, and a YETI cooler stocked with ice packs to keep your food cool. To access the king sized bed in the loft, a sturdy ladder must be climbed (see photo). Loft and ladder are “use at your own risk.” A wood burning sauna is located just steps from the main house. Walk out on the wrap-around deck and light the fire in the sauna to get your sweat on. During the winter months, a snow bath is recommended for refreshment. (it feels so good!) We also have a handheld shower to rinse off with after the sauna. A wood-burning hot tub bathing area is available for bookings from May to October, and no hot tub is available in the winter months when it is too cold to change the water for each guest. There is a dry flush toilet inside the cabin (in its own bathroom) so there’s no need to freeze your butt off in an outhouse. Sanitary wipes and hands sanitizer are conveniently located in the bathroom with the wash basin in the nearby kitchen. As a guest at Hillwinds House, you will have full access to the entire 5 acre property. Enjoy the spacious deck with valley views, sit in the sauna at dusk and watch the wildlife walk by. (deer, white rabbits, moose, and coyotes) Put on your snow boots or skis and enjoy the trail that winds down the side of the hill towards the Meeting Creek townsite. When you book a stay at the cabin, we’ll send you a welcome booklet with a list of our favourite places to go and things to do locally. We’ll be a few miles away on our farm if you need anything during your stay at Hillwinds House.

We were pleasantly surprised by how lovely the cabin was. Kara and Dan was also very nice in letting us setup a surprise proposal for my sister. The place was peaceful and quiet. It was a perfect place to unwind. The stars were beautiful at night. Would also mention that I was kinda hesitant on using the porta potty but to my surprise it was very clean unlike other porta potties I've seen in other camping areas. It's a great place to go to when you want to have a getaway that's not too far from the city. Would definitely come back!

We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin! The place is amazing, quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. Guillermo, their lovely dog, was a highlight of the trip. He gave us a little “tour” of the property and played happily with our dog, who was thrilled to run off-leash. Kerry is a fantastic host, always quick to answer our questions and make us feel welcome. We truly enjoyed our time here and are already planning our next visit this winter.

My partner and I absolutely loved the cabin. Beautiful details, comfortable bed, nice touches and everything you need to set up a little camp kitchen on the porch. The property is beautiful, the cabin is surrounded by trees. The little outhouse is very cute and does not smell like an outhouse because of the composting toilet. It even has a bag shower. I wish we could have stayed longer, I hope we'll be back!

This is the second time I've visited. Camped last year and stayed in the cabin this year. Absolutely love this space. Very quiet and peaceful. Spent most of our time outdoors, hoping it would rain so we could listen to it hit the metal roof, no such luck. Cabin is well stocked and the hosts are very accommodating. Will definitely be back!

This was our second time staying here in the cabin and it was great. We were worried about privacy with having someone booked the tenting site but we barely knew they were there. The brush really filled in compared to our stay back in May. The hosts were just as nice, friendly and responsive as our first stay. Love that our dogs get along and I didn’t have to worry about mine. She had a blast running around and playing.

This experience was hands down one of the most memorable times for myself and the ones I shared it with. The cost was beyond reasonable. If anyone is looking to create any life long lasting memories, this is by far your best bet. The host and her family are very accommodating, yet allow for the privacy you are hoping to achieve by getting out of the city in the first place. The property is breathtakingly beautiful and very well kept. Very enjoyable and not once problem or inconvenience arose for us, I couldnt have imagined a better result considering what we were looking to obtain. I would highly recommend this property and I know I will definitely have this at the top of my list going forward.

We had a nice time at the Rustic Cabin. It was a quick 45 minute drive from our house and the directions were perfect. Eugena was easy to communicate with and the property was beautifully kept. We enjoyed the quiet afternoon, and the temperature dropped overnight so we could have a great sleep. The only problem was that the train whistle woke me up a few times, but other than that, it was a great place to visit. We will visit again!

The communication was fantastic and kept us up to date with any little issues that had occured. The space is very clean, cozy, comfortable, peaceful. We enjoyed our privacy, the camp is safe & family friendly. It was our first camping experience and Denika was a huge helper, she answered all our questions even sometimes wasn’t really related to our booking. The camp is great choice if you want to experience of being camping but very suitable for families especially if you have little ones. Denika’s family -all- were so welcoming and supportive. Her adorable girls are so sweet and great friends if you’ve little ones 🥰 We loved their quick response to change the compost toilet, refilling the water & ….etc Their Homemade Breakfast is a must try, we couldn’t resist reordering it twice😋 Yoga session was relaxing. We enjoyed the sandy beaches at Pigeon lake, Ma-Mo lake, hiking and we rent a water paddle. The Nature Shower was our daily treat after barbecuing and playing. Everything is near by and accessible (15 mins) grocery, clothing, gas station, …. so don’t overpack. Thank you again for having us, we’re grateful for your effort and support and will definitely coming back soon!

Beautiful cabin and property. Right on a farmland. If you like that isolated feeling, this is perfect. Many greenery around. We went for a walk and enjoyed the privacy. We even got to see her cows. Close to town to grab stuff and even to use the washroom at the grocery store. Things to note, there’s no electricity, no wifi. It rained during our stay and the cabin was so cold, only source of heat is by lightening a fire through the wood stove.

It was more than I expected. The tiny cabin was honestly better than the photos. I loved being able to feed the animals. The breakfast was amazing, so much food and a variety and homemade goodies jams and bread etc!. The pottery aroma therapy etc. this is somewhere my group and I will be back to. I also plan to bring my family for a separate little camping trip. The site are great weather your looking at glamping tents the tiny cabin or just tent/camping spots. The outdoor shower looked amazing although we didn't get to try it. There is an entire kid friendly area which my 9yr old loved! The family is more than you could ask for for hosts. They have composting toilets, there are 3 beaches very close by within a 5-13 min drive. Can't wait to go back to experience more fun with friends and family, and honestly maybe even just drop in for the items they sell at the market. I'm in love with my roll on perfume. Next time I definitely want to book massage, so many options and different things to do. All I can say is you gotta go at least once. You won't regret it.
