Past trip
in Antelope Market and RV Park Camping, OregonI enjoyed 4 nights at Antelope RV park. Antelope is so small I barely saw anyone in town so it was whisper quiet at night. The RV sight was very plesant and Brandie made sure I had the right adapeters to hook up power and a long water hose. I came manily for dark skies and I used the old schoolhouse grounds which is very dark in the back. Attached is a photo I took there of Andromeda. I saw a number of motorcyle and bike riders who camped there as well. You can also drive 8 miles up to "ghost town" Shaniko or a short drvie to fish in the John Day River.

in Cat's Forest Retreat, WashingtonPeaceful but some things to conside
The location was very quiet as you might expect and there were no nearby campers. It is rough camping. You need to be prepared for a lot of dust due to the nature of the soil, so dirt and dust gets into everything. The campsites are of course primitive and you set you tent on construction type sand used for mixing cememt. Hard to sink tent pegs deep enough aalthough far better than then loose soil. My biggest issues was being plauged by yellowjackets which took over my campsite. I suppose this is to be expected in high summer but I was forced into my vehicle several times to avoid them. They also inhabited the porta-potty set nearby. I had considered bringing my trailer but i do not belive i could have gotten it into the original campsite on the narrow path. Maybe better drivers could. I was met by Nathan who is a great guy and very helpful. He gave me a tour of the sites on an ATV.
Overall, this is a developing campsite and it is for me, not quite ready yet although i am sure others as per their reviews will find it to be just fine.

in Cranberry Overlook, OregonIt would be difficult to find da a more bucolic setting. Totally peaceful, green with scattered trees of different variety and nice dog. Very dark night skies but lots of dew until it warms up. We had no other campers near us. Close to Bandon, 10 miles, which is a very nice small town with great food and a costal features that were very interesting. The nature center close by has lots of interesting short hikes such as Mud (sic) Lake and an abandoned cranberry bog reverting to nature. Great place to stay for local exploration.

in EagleCreek Haven, OregonAshton was a great host. Very nice grassy campsite with electric hookup and pure water. We were close to Sandy and Milo McIver park for hiking and it looked like very good fishing from what i saw people landing. Not much traffic on the road so we were not disturbed during the night. I was impressed by one of the largest bulls I have ever seen on his property! Several good places to eat in Canby and Estacada.

We enjoyed our time in the meadow. It was very quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately we arrived when a heat wave was ongoing. There is no shade in the meadow but there is a pool a short walk to the river that offers relief from the heat. Stargazing was good. Those you with trailers over about 20' need a caution to make as wide a turn into the drive as wide as possible as it is a narrow driveway with fence posts on either side. We ate at Deb's in Alsea one day and we can't really give it an enthusiastic thumbs up. i understand it has changed ownership during the Pandemic. I will probably be back for the peace and quiet and stargazing when this heat abates.

Great location and people, a working farm. Lots of space for spreading out in tent or RVs, farm store, a few small animals for the kids, rooster to wake you up, bathrooms and water available and Old Barn Brewing right across the street.

Jim is a very nice guy with many interests. We camped in a grassy meadow with our RV with no other campers. There is some noise from a nearby road but this abates in the evening and we enjoyed a very quiet evening. Access is easy with plenty of room to turn around. You cant get a quiet private site for a price like this in any state park anymoe.
