Cascades Cottage is named after the beautiful Cascades that have a drop of around 10 meters, at the center of which you can cool down in a natural plunge pool or sit and listen to the water cascade down a 4-meter fall. It is an ideal space on a hot summer day to take a camp chair sit with a glass of wine and rejuvenate in absolute privacy. A stay at Cascades Cottage can be any sort of holiday you like - a romantic getaway, a relaxing and peaceful break, or a fun and action-packed adventure exploring the farm, nearby national parks, the fall, and the rapids which is off the farm about 10 minutes away but a fun and dynamic place where you can swim and explore the natural rock pools that run from the top of a natural stream. Native wildlife make the farm their home. Wallabies, koalas, and platypus can often be seen enjoying the surroundings. Kayak on the dam or spend time on the pier waiting for the platypus to play in the early mornings and late afternoon. A stay at the Cascades will bring you close to nature and give you a wonderful tree change for the duration of your stay. Guests have access to a large freshwater dam and two kayaks are provided for your use (as well as life jackets). Guests can explore the whole property of 220 acres. There are many waterways and rain forest areas as well as fields and paddocks. We are pet friendly. This is my third stay at Oakey Farm and it certainly won't be my last. Jenny is a fantastic host, always friendly and helpful, yet relaxed and respectful of your privacy. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it the perfect getaway. Every visit has been a wonderful experience, and I can't wait to come back.

Weekend Trip to Ellenborough Getaways

We had such a lovely stay at Ellenborough Cabin. The cabin was beautifully decorated, and I loved all the unique touches throughout. It felt like there was a little bit of everything you might need, just in case you forgot something at home. It was almost like a collection of thoughtful items left behind by previous guests, which made it feel very welcoming and homely. The cows were absolutely adorable and were a real highlight of the stay. My daughter loved every minute of being there and didn’t want to leave! The only suggestion I would make is to add a sign at the main driveway entrance and another at the gate to the cabin, as it was a little tricky to find at first. Other than that, everything was wonderful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We’d happily visit again!

What a great sense of a secret escape By Gorge presents. The drama of the escarpment beside the facilities is immediate and only slightly diminished by the drought and lack of water over the falls. We had a terrific walk across country to the Oxley Wild Rivers NP walkways and lookouts, and were lucky to find a wombat hole through the fence. Probably better and safer to go by road.

Weekend Trip to Ellenborough Getaways

My husband and I have now visited the Mountain Shack 3 times and every time we have been blown away by the stunning view! John is a wonderful host, always helpful and quick to respond. Dave the caretaker also ensured we had plenty of firewood. The shack had a wood stove to keep warm on cooler nights, and you can bask in the sun on warmer days. Very friendly cows and our 2 dogs had a fantastic time. Will be visiting again very soon.

Amazing spot just far enough outside Tamworth. This is an absolute gem with new bathrooms with showers. Pool for cooling down and lots of space. We slept very soundly as it is peaceful here in the evenings. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great spot within an easy drive to Tamworth. Great hosts who have put so much effort into every little detail.

Peppermint falt glamping , where do I start what a spot 15/10 !! We stayed in the platypus lair , to the amazing tent set up which is like a small house , one of if not the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in , the amenities was superb , love love love .. Oh wait there , can't leave without saying I have ticked another ozzy jewl of my animal bucket list , just made my year , both nights we cooked up a storm , and sat down beside the river and had an outstanding moment veiwing your family of platypus whist having dinner, between the platypus, water dragons and turtles we were truly spoilt , and not to mention sum beefy owl on the first night , that we couldnt see but definitely knew they were present ... thanks again for allowing people to come enjoy your true peice of paradise. And can't wait to come back as we only scratched the surface on the stunning walks in the erea .. I can't recommend this place enough , all boxes ticked .....

We loved our stay at Platypus Tent, Peppermint Flats. The property was private, peaceful and beautiful. We loved exploring the property and watching the Platypus in the creek. The glamping tent was big enough for the three of us and was well equipped. The facilities were clean and the shower was beautifully hot. We would definitely stay again, given the opportunity.

The Mountaintop Shack had incredible views, the photos don’t do it justice. It only had very basic ammenities so be sure to bring an Eski, bedding and shower (if staying more than one night). You will definitely need a 4WD to get to the top, but worth it once you get there! The cows were adorable and friendly, and our pup and 8month old baby had a great time exploring. John was super helpful and gave perfect directions. Thanks a million John!

We stayed at Ellenborough Cabin for 4 days, and it was an incredible experience. The location is absolutely beautiful and super quiet, perfect for anyone looking to escape the hustle. The access road to the cabin is stunning, it could probably be doable but challenging with a 2WD. The cabin itself was well-equipped, with thoughtful decoration and all the amenities we needed. The camp fridge worked great, and the beds were clean and comfortable. We had lighting and plenty of firewood, including some freshly cut logs ready for us. All in all, a fantastic stay in a peaceful spot—highly recommended!

It's a rustic cabin on a farm with a lot of cute cattle. Was really lovely sitting on the deck. its basic, dusty, and really peaceful. The host John was a nice bloke, and my friends and I found it a great getaway. The old wooden stove keeps the place cozy and warm and the beds are comfortable.
