Escape to The Farm Shed — a near-new, air-conditioned two-bedroom guest house tucked into an established country garden on our working farm, just minutes from Tamworth, Australia's Country Music Capital. Set apart from our 100-year-old homestead with its own private entrance and parking, the Farm Shed enjoys a peaceful north-easterly aspect and lovely garden views. The main bedroom has a king bed and large built-in wardrobe; the second has two single beds. The fully self-contained kitchen is well appointed with an electric stove, gas cooktop, large fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. Wi-Fi and a smart TV are included. We offer a complimentary breakfast of bread, preserves, fruit, cereals, tea, and coffee — please let us know after booking if you'd like this, as we prepare it in advance. You're only a six-minute drive from AELEC and TREC, so you couldn't be closer to the action. Back at the farm, guests are welcome to walk the property and enjoy our pool (shared respectfully with the main house in consultation with the owners). Our four working dogs and two house dogs are all very friendly and love to say hello. This is a working farm — please be mindful of cattle and horses when exploring. We have unfenced dams and troughs, so children must be supervised at all times. HORSES: Safe post-and-rail paddocks may be available for horse owners at an additional cost and at the owner's risk. This is my third stay at Oakey Farm and it certainly won't be my last. Jenny is a fantastic host, always friendly and helpful, yet relaxed and respectful of your privacy. The peaceful atmosphere and beautiful surroundings make it the perfect getaway. Every visit has been a wonderful experience, and I can't wait to come back.

Amazing spot just far enough outside Tamworth. This is an absolute gem with new bathrooms with showers. Pool for cooling down and lots of space. We slept very soundly as it is peaceful here in the evenings. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great spot within an easy drive to Tamworth. Great hosts who have put so much effort into every little detail.

Great spot to enjoy the Tamworth Country Music Festival. It’s a pretty quick drive (speed checks were present every day of my stay) . Very clean restrooms and a gorgeous view of the country side. Safe parking and an oasis on the quieter side of the music festival.

Weekend Trip to Balaka Farm

The converted shearing shed was beautiful, very modern inside with a great rustic country feel, it has plenty of room to move around in, the beds are very comfortable, has a lovely bath tub and plenty of fenced in yard around the shed for the pets to run around. A beautiful spot with hill views and not too far from Kootingal township and also Moonbi township.

We had a wonderful stay at Balaka Farm. Our host was friendly and inviting, taking us on a tour of the farm to visit the beautiful baby lambs and other animals. The accommodation is excellent and was made warm & cosy, even in the middle of winter. Electric blankets and ample bedding were supplied. The kitchen is very well equipped and all areas were well kept & clean. We highly recommend for a stay with a difference in beautiful, quiet surrounds.

Weekend Trip to Balaka Farm

Phoebe and her family were lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The accommodation is just beautiful and exactly as described. The surroundings are just beautiful. We had to change our travel plans and Phoebe was flexible and accommodating. I would definitely recommend staying here and would stay again.
