Alastair and I have shared the property for more than 30 years and consider ourselves custodians of this precious place. All proceeds from Airbnb and Hipcamp are invested in the continuing conservation of Black Mountain. IMPORTANT: `Black Mountain’ Shack and camp sites are only accessible by 4 wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicles.

'Killarney Nymboida River' is a family run working cattle farm on the banks of the pristine Nymboida River, located 47km Southwest of Grafton. Our accommodation would perfectly suit a few couples, 2 families or a group of up to 10 people. Your booking will include both The Cottage and The Shed. 'The Cottage' is open plan with loft style accommodation with 2 x queen beds, 2 x KS and 2 x floor mattresses. It has a lounge room area with TV, small kitchenette and bathroom. All linen is provided. 'The Shed' is also open style accommodation with 3 x double beds and 1 x KS. It also has a bathroom with laundry, Kitchenette, the kids pool table and a ping pong table. All bed linen for this area is stored in a tub in the shed and beds can be made up by guests as needed. Just bring towels! Making memories is what we are about whether that be fishing, swimming, kayaking, watching the races in the bar over a game of pool or just sitting by the fire with your favorite tunes to relax and unwind. Some guests may be lucky enough spot a platypus or even witness the mustering team in action from a distance. For those adventure lovers out there, who enjoy canoeing or kayaking, you may want to take advantage of being on section one of 'The Longest Whitewater Trail in Australia'. If you enjoy 4WD adventures a day trip to The Junction at the Nymboi-Binderay National Park is well worth the drive. The closest town to get supplies is Coutts crossing, approx 22km drive. There is a BP service station with a general store and post office inside. Here you can also grab a coffee and takeaway food. Coutts Crossing also has a Tavern which does lunch and dinner most days and locally run raffles most Friday nights. All fishing is catch and release - Please refer to the 'Rules' regarding fishing.

Idyllic spot among the beautiful Aussie countryside of Nymboida. The weather was perfect. Crispy cold mornings, massive blue skies and fantastic sunshine during the day. Seasonal cool nights perfect to sit around the fire and watch the Full moon and stars. Amenities have everything you could possible need and the homstead was well equiped. We will book again one day.

This charming little cabin has a beautiful, peaceful outlook. We had a lovely get away. Lesley and Cec have created an amazing space to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of life! Julie the hosts was very lovely and accommodating to all our needs. Always offering food eg, eggs, milk whatever we needed. My parter and I stayed for 5 nights and we absolutely loved it. The lodging brought a nice peaceful atmosphere surrounded by beautiful plants and a private get away. The sauna and magnesium pool made the whole experience ten times better. The community kitchen had everything you needed. We met lots of lovely family’s at yarralen retreat. We also loved seeing all of Julie’s art work around the property as well as the beautiful paintings. Would 100% recommend this place. And we can’t wait to come back!! 😊

This is a beautiful retreat 😍 ✨️ the spaces, the stillness. Sauna, pool and Magnesium bath... there is a community kitchen which has everything needed. I stayed in a cabin/cottage which was comfortable and clean. Julie is a great host and I will definitely be coming back!

Our favourite place we stayed along our trip from Sydney to brisbane. Loved staying here even if it was for the 1 night. Loved that we had our private little shower room and the locals here were amazing to talk to and have a laugh with at the tavern in the town centre. Right next to the ocean but if you're also nervous with swimming its fine as the river is there also where its much more calm to swim in. Would've stayed here another night if I could redo the trip.

Unforgettable Nymboida Getaway! Our stay at Nymboida was incredible! Merryl was an amazing host, and the pristine river made for the perfect escape. The highlight? Spotting a platypus and two kingfishers—pure magic! The kids felt so safe, and the canoe adventure was unforgettable. Can’t wait to go back—this time, just with the boys! 😜 Highly recommend!

Weekend Trip to Yarralen Retreat

We booked the entire property at Yarralen Retreat for a family get-together to celebrate my Dad’s 70th. The property was tranquil and relaxing with beautiful bush walks and yoga deck. The amenities and camp kitchen were great and had everything we needed for big family cook ups. They were also artistic and lots to look at. The kids loved the big nest swing where they spent most of their time and the hammocks on the yoga deck. All of the accommodation was lovely and very comfortable. The kids also loved the peacocks, chickens and fish. Julie and Cliff were kind and generous hosts who we enjoyed spending time with and learning about their beautiful property. They went above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and were very accommodating to make sure everyone was comfortable. We had such a wonderful weekend and 100% recommend for large groups and family get-togethers! We are considering making it an annual family holiday! Thank you Julie and Cliff!
