Welcome to our river retreat. Ideal for those seeking privacy, peace and solitude away from the socials and technology. Kingfisher's Hut sits on 80 acres of our 240 acre property, on a high bank overlooking the Macdonald River as it makes it way towards the confluence with the Namoi River. Ideally suited for a couple (children and fur babies also welcome) or small groups, and those who are new to a nature escape holiday. A small solar system provides lighting (but not recharging of devices). Our insulated cabin provides a comfortable double bed (bring your own linen and pillows) and pot belly stove for the colder months. Our bush kitchen provides your basic needs with a BBQ, 12 volt fridge, and fully equipped camp kitchen. Our open fire is set up for cooking or for just sitting, relaxing and staring into the flames. Our bush bathroom provides a toilet and wood fired hot shower. Or you might chose to relax in a hot bath overlooking the river. We welcome nature lovers and offer activities such as bush walking, bird watching, native wildlife, swimming, picnicking, kayaking (double kayak provided), catch and release fishing (seasonal and with current Fishing Licence), and big open night skies for astronomy enthusiasts. We are a small farming enterprise and currently establishing aquaculture (yabby) ponds and can offer an introductory tour to those who are interested. The hut sleeps two but there is plenty of room for those who wish to bring a camper trailer or van or pitch a tent. As a working property, you may need to navigate around the odd cow pat! We do ask that you carefully read our rules (see link) to avoid any conflict with neighbouring properties or our attempts at retaining a relatively undisturbed, healthy river environment and not to impact upon our surrounding community.Kingfisher's Hut sits within an 80 acre paddock of bush land, overlooking the MacDonald River. There is a comfy double bed, pot belly stove, wood fired hot shower and open sky bathtub, and long drop toilet (loo with a view) overlooking the river. The camp kitchen provides all the basics that you will need including a small fridge/freezer, BBQ and open fire for cooking. Named for the Azure Kingfishers that live along the river, there is abundant bird life to quietly observe. Unable to attend due to a family emergency However host was super responsive and extremely understanding even giving a refund that I hadn’t expected Can’t wait to actually visit soon

Kingfisher's Hut Riverside Retreat
Well of you ever want to see a platypus this is the place. You can even do it from a hot bath (or toilet 😄). Many thanks to Sue and Phil who were such freindly and helpful hosts. 10 out of 10 would recommend, especially lovely for a winter get away. Oh and the dogs loved the river walks and freedom.

What a wonderful spot. The property is amazing. A perfect bush retreat with platypus, kingfishers, and all the wonder of the bush and country in a secluded setting. Would highly recommend. Phil and Sue are great!

Sue and Phill are exceptional hosts. The camp is just perfect and enough off grid to think you are a world away. Nothing needed as far as kitchen gear and even an innovative hot shower system. Fishing with lures only is not an issue. Patience and a little quiet will see platypus pop up and say hi... wonderful part of this great country.

We can't say enough about this property and the hosts. Sue and Phill are extremely welcoming and kind. They are there as much or as little as you need them with lots of knowledge. The touches and decor make you feel like home. Seriously you won't have a better shower. Our furbabies love having this property all to themselves. We will be back again soon.

Sue and Phil have a wonderful spot on the river. They have everything you need for a peaceful getaway, with none of the fluff. They were gracious hosts, I can’t recommend this spot enough!

Amazing stay and the host, Sue and Phill are lovely people who thought of everything when creating the hut and kitchen. The hut is comfortable with lots of charming touches and the kitchen has everything you'll need. The shower is one of the best you'll ever use and the outdoor bathtub is nice after a day at the river. The view of the river was beautiful and there were plenty of swimming holes. Hands down the best Hipcamp stay. We will be back soon.

Is an amazing location with great facilities, highly recommend for any and all looking for that bush feeling with all the creature comforts! And the Host were great !! The photos do not do it justice, will definitely be back !!
