Jim and Kathy Grogg purchased Pleasant Valley Farm in 1994 and not only updated the house and barn, but also expanded the lake to its current 13 acres. The large 144-year-old, 2736-square-foot barn is now available for special occasions such as weddings, receptions, birthdays, and reunions.

Our family oriented outdoor recreation facility is open on weekends only and offers primitive camping, PYO produce during the growing season, homesteading activities & nature-based programs. The peaceful 20-acre country farm has food gardens, a frog habitat pool, a barnyard for the chickens & ducks, a bluegill fishin' pond, a pollinator maze, a prairie garden, and an outdoor stage. After crossing a winding creek into 10 acres of woods, you may see deer, turkey, fox, coyote, mink, eagles & barred owls. In early spring, the peepers are peeping, wildflowers are abundant & the vernal pools welcome the wood frogs, salamanders and fairy shrimp. Summer brings on the bullfrogs, butterflies, dragonflies and fireflys. Fall is a great time to pull grapevine to make wreaths & to build stick forts in the woods. We cater to the tent camper so that we can hear frogs & owls instead of generators. But, there is an RV section up front for those with quiet generators with several feet of gravel under the grass to hold the weight of your camper. We charge by the carload & there are different rates for driving back toward the woods for camping depending on the number of wheels & the weight of your vehicle (a factor on the wear & tear on the land). We believe in going outside to play, growing & eating fresh food, strengthening family bonds and promoting the awareness of our natural resources. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING: 1) The speed limit is 5 mph as soon as you enter the property (kids & dogs are quick to dart in front of you). 2) As a state registered campground, it is mandatory that you check in at the house to fill out a Registration Form before heading to your campsite. 3) No glass allowed anywhere on the property (we don't want our feet or paws cut open and can do without flat tires). 4) Children under 18 must be attended to at all times for their safety (the frog pool is 10' deep, the pond is 8-10' deep depending on rains, and the creek can turn into a churning river). Come watch the sunset overlooking our beautiful garden, explore the vibrant campus life, or cook yourself a meal in our open outdoor kitchen. The space: Our campsites are situated on active organically farmed land. We have several sleeping spots available and amenities include an outhouse, an outdoor kitchen with sink & gas stove and seating area. Guests can freely use the basement shower which can be accessed through the red storm doors on the side of the house. Other things to note: Helpful to have a car even though campus is so close. 1/4 of the 25 minute walk to campus is along a state route. There is a beautiful longer walk to avoid the highway along a bike trail but if you have places to be, either ask us for a ride or best you have your own vehicle :) I walk all the time. Very doable just depends on your preference.

Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Buckeye and Lexi can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There's also Turk the turkey and his flock of chickens. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have four dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe.

Creek is shallow and perfect for playing and finding little critters like crawdads and minnows. 2 acres cleared for volleyball, soccer, etc. You may even have some deer visitors during your stay. We are one hour from Columbus and amish country with many places to enjoy or just relax in nature for a weekend. Mid Ohio Race way is just 10 miles from us. Clear Fork Marina with boat rentals by reservation 7 miles away. Currently we have one 50/30 amp rv site. Two creek side tent sites to come and one port a pot available for our guests. Small groups welcome to request info for renting all. Few things to remember -If tent camping feel free to set up wherever but firepit can't be moved -RV to back up drive and park in front of our rv by electric. -Bring your own wood. -We are by a creek so mosquitos and flies can be a bother -Stay on paths in woods. Blueberry Farm Campsites

We have lived here since 2004, the blueberries have lived here for over 60 years. This site has more topography than most of the surrounding county (very flat here). Learn more about this land: Several sites available on an organic blueberry farm near Oberlin College and Lake Erie. Blueberries are ripe in July. Site #2 is down by the Chance Creek, about 1/2 mile from the driveway. Very peaceful down there - a walk-in site. Site #1 site is about 100 yards from the driveway, Site #1 also has access to a small shed that sleeps two adults and one child. Both sites are woodsy and away from neighbors, roads and houses, however the interstate is not far. When the wind blows from the north you can barely hear it, but when a south wind blows and there is rain on the interstate, it can be pretty loud. Just got a "luggable-loo" if you need it, have liners, too.
