We bought this 125+ year old farm in 2010 with the hope of bringing it back to life. Overgrown and neglected, we have worked hard to make it a nice place for hiking, kayaking, fishing or any number of other activities. Peaceful and remote, the property has a beautiful brook that leads you to the South branch of the Portage river. Deer, turkey, geese, herons, mink and fox are just a few of our natural animal friends. Rusty the steer and his pony friends Buckeye and Lexi can be visited while they graze in the pasture. There's also Turk the turkey and his flock of chickens. We have the perfect place for dogs as well. We have four dogs that get along great with others and our fenced pond keeps them safe.

Site 1 - Rusty's Retreat

The best spot with the best host !

Jay is an amazing character, he gave us a tour of his beautiful property and words cannot even describe how perfect our site was. We were right on the river and it felt so secluded we didn't hear anything but the birds and the critters in the creek! The water was teeming with all kinds of life and Jay came to check on us a few times on his golf cart to see if we needed anything ❤️ will absolutely be going again I'm so glad we picked his land !!

Site 3 - Rusty's Retreat

100% recommend, it was our first time using Hipcamp and we are definitely coming back here! The host is amazing super welcoming and helpful, the land is beautiful no mosquitoes and minimal bugs. Perfect for families with kids of any ages, my teenager was in the creek for hours catching minnows and crawfish. The swim pond is great for swimming and fishing and the pontoon paddle boat is pretty cool they have bees and Rusty the cow is a hoot! Country and camping in one we couldn’t have been happier. The creek and the river is very clean just overall perfect I can’t recommend this place enough! Bring your bikes the trails are super cool and be sure to purchase some wood when you make your reservation, having it already at our campsite when we got it was such a blessing. Pictures really don’t do this place justice I urge you to come see for yourself

Very nice place

It was a very enjoyable weekend trip, the grounds are kept nicely and the owner jay is a good guy providing an excellent spot for people to unplug real quick without breaking the bank. The animals are happy living their best lives. The pond also has some big bass if you bring your fishing gear as well.

If you're looking for a unique and amazing camo getaway, look no further than Rusty's Retreat! This place blew our expectations out of the water. Jay and Heather were amazing! From the moment we arrived, they made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic stay. Jay even took us on a fun golf cart tour of the property, pointing out hidden spots and sharing the history of the place. The campsite itself was exactly what we wanted. Nestled beside a small creek, the property offers peace and tranquility. We loved waking up to the sounds of nature and spending the evening relaxing by the fire. But the best part? The animals , Rusty in particular. And let's not forget the fresh veggies! Jay & Heather surprised us with some of their homegrown vegetables from the garden. Overall, Rusty' is a hidden gem! It's the perfect place to relax, reconnect with nature, and experience a bit of farm life. We can't wait to return someday!
