Overview

About

A sportsman’s paradise and family fave, George P. Cossar State Park sits on the shores of Enid Lake. Anglers take note because Enid Lake is the site of the world’s largest crappie catch, weighing in at over 5 pounds. Most of the land around the lake and in nearby Holly Springs National Forest is open for public hunting and filled with a variety of game. Just be sure to hunt responsibly and make sure you’re aware of others around you. Area attractions include Ole Miss (Go Rebels!), the North Mississippi Fish Hatchery, and O’Keefe and Malmaison Wildlife Management Areas. The park staff is big on southern hospitality and is happy to provide directions.

The ideal time to visit George P. Cossar State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural beauty is at its peak.
