Forest at Sand Mountain
4 sites · RVs, Tents22 acres · GA22 private acres spanning the bottom valley all the way to the top of Sand Mountain. The mountain has several natural terraces and flat areas suitable for campers to choose from including a nice spot overlooking a rock garden. As you ascend Sand Mountain, the vegetation thins revealing spectacular views of Lookout Mountain especially in the fall & winter months after the leaves have fallen. At the very top of the property are 30+ ft high cliffs with a few caves large enough to accommodate several sleeping bags. Guided hikes to the cliffs & caves are available upon request. This is raw land & raw forest. If you enjoy bush craft, there is plenty of material for you to build a lean-to, tee-pee, or structure of choice. Trees range from poplar to multiple species of oak. Natural wildlife include deer, wild turkeys, scorpions, and ticks. You're welcome to bring fluffy as we've never seen any predators, but there is a slight chance there could be some around. A lost animal on the mountain could be near impossible to find.

Running Water Creek
22 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents120 acres · Guild, TNRunning Water Creek gets it's name from the Running Water Creek that runs through the property. Originally, Cherokee war Chief Dragging Canoe lived at Running Water Town. He and his Cherokee followers were opposed to European-American settlement in their lands so they moved to more distant areas of the frontier to avoid the Americans. The community of Whiteside developed later at this site, named for a major railway investor, Colonel James Whiteside. Shortly before the Civil War, a railway was constructed in this area, which Colonel Whiteside was a major stockholder. It took over construction of what is known as Whiteside Tunnel in 1858. After the tunnel was abandoned, because of changes in rail standards and patterns of use, it was donated in 1968 to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum. The Whiteside Tunnel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, as NRHP 78002595. The tunnel can still be seen along GA-299. The Whiteside trestle bridge was constructed on another part of the route. Confederate troops destroyed it during the Civil War, but Union forces rebuilt the Whiteside trestle in 1863, for what was then known as the Nashville & Chattanooga Railroad. This structure washed away in a flood in 1867, and the next bridge lasted until 1924.

Camp Chet
6 sites · Lodging, RVs994 acres · Whitwell, TNCamp Chet was founded with the purpose to help people encounter God through outdoor experiences. It encompasses 994 acres of private forested land on Whitwell Mountain, which is part of the Cumberland Plateau in Southeast Tennessee.   Take a hike on miles of trails comprised of forest paths, old wagon roads, or coal mining roads.  If you find a chunk of coal on the ground feel free to take it home with you as a souvenir.  If you are a history buff, you may be interested in discovering previous caretakers from the late 1800's and early 1900's in nearby cemeteries.  The camp ground is on top of a mountain, and you will have to go through a locked gate and drive over a mile and half on a bumpy gravel/dirt road. You will be most comfortable in a vehicle that is suitable for rugged terrain.Day trips less than an hour away include the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, Rock City, Ruby Falls, Nickajack Lake and Bat Cave among many others. Come to hike, relax, bike, explore, and recharge.

The Falls at Sewanee Creek
7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents45 acres · Tracy City, TNWe came to this magical place to found a self-reliant, intentional eco-community when I retired from corporate life in 2006. It's called the Village on Sewanee Creek, named after the creek 800 feet below the bluff where we are located. There are now a dozen homesteads here and a small thriving community. I traveled the world as a senior executive for Baskin-Robbins, Dunkin' Donuts, Papa Johns, Blockbuster, 7-Eleven and other retail franchises, making the world safe for Pizza, Ice Cream, Pancakes Video Rentals and American convenience. And I was ready for something more fufilling. I scouted for a place of exquisite natural beauty and I found it here. I bought way too much land just before the real estate bust and learned how to turn a nice fortune into a very small one. I faced challenges and had lots of fun. Now I want to share our experience. It's the Village 2.0 for guests. Who knows, you may decide to stay. Or not. Life in the city is OK as long as you can get away frequently. I'm convinced if you love nature and the outdoors, this is the best place to celebrate it.
