With the local social club directly across the road, you have the choice of peace and tranquility or a little socialising and getting to know the locals - with the possibility of being let in on further (lesser known and undiscovered) attractions which, believe me exist - but are accessable by permission only. We have a well established banana grove which we harvest throughout the year. We are in a relatively quiet space for being just 15 minutes to town center and you'll wake up to rich bird song every morning and fall asleep to the sound of ruru calling from the trees. We are a few minutes to the lovely Pukenui forest reserve, 15 minutes to Parihaka, 20 minutes to Whangārei Falls and Abbey Caves, 35-50 minutes to bay and open ocean beaches. LGBTQIA2SP+ friendly! 1 night at Hampshire Holiday Parks - Glendhu Bay

We really enjoyed our overnight stay at Glendhu Bay. The spot was very scenic and tidy. The park wasn’t overly busy as we were in the off season which was nice. The only downside I noted was that you had to pay for hot showers. $2 for 6min isn’t too bad but was a surprised compared to everywhere else we stayed where it’s free. That being said, the bathrooms were very clean and heated nicely. It’s a little out of Wanaka (about 15min) so not ideal if you want to eat out in town for dinner. Overall a good spot and hopefully one day we will be back.
