Lovely place! Heel rustig en afgelegen tussen de heuvels en met een mooi stukje bush en riviertje ernaast. Wij vonden het heerlijk met zo weinig mensen daar te staan. Wc’s zijn compost wc’s en verrassend schoon en zonder geur. Host Timothy niet ontmoet maar heel vriendelijk en communiceert direct. Geen telefoonbereik of wifi ter plekke.

Such a lovely little spot! We booked last minute, it was an easy roll in, roll out situation, Tim came by in the evening to say hi and check in with us. SUPER clean compostable toilets, not too buggy, amazing stargazing. Thanks Tim!

We had a great stay at River Bends Campsite and would definitely come back.
When we first arrived, there was a bit of a mix-up because another group was already there (they had the wrong day), so we had to wait for a while before settling in. But Tim handled it really well; he came down to the campsite himself to sort things out and make sure everything was okay.
A big thanks as well to Tim’s father, who also came down later to check on us and make sure we had everything we needed and were enjoying our stay. We really appreciated that.
The campsite itself is a real hidden gem. Very peaceful, picturesque, and a great place to relax. We were lucky to have a clear sky at night, and the stars / Milky Way were amazing.
Overall, a beautiful spot and a great experience. Definitely recommend it, and we’d happily stay again.

Exactly what I had in mind camping with a motorhome in New Zealand would be like. As close to the shire as you can get in real life. Surrounded by sheep and amazing little hills. You must go down to the stream and walk through the water. It’s surreal surrounded by the rocks and trees. Beautiful place. Definitely staying here again if we’re in the region.

Beautiful Campsite situated next to the cliffs and an ice cold river. Only around 5 minutes drive up the road to the waitomo experience cave tours and only around 15 minutes into te kuiti for any food or supplies. My partner and I had a phenomenal stay here and the waitomo cave experience was next level 🤙

We loved camping in this private, tranquil spot, great for families with plenty of fun to be had in the small river. We can't wait to go again. Our only worry was getting our heavy van up the hill to leave

We loved everything about the camp site, access is great along with clear directions + instructions once on site. We will be returning with friends again for sure… the Location is what everyone needs, this isolation makes this the right place to relax.

Our second visit here and we love it - Tim has only improved the offering since last time. Now, there is a pair of amazing shiny toilets in the upper camp and through a gate, bridge & steps down to the river gorge, where you can see glowworms at night, or take a swim/dip in the day. Such an amazing camp, probably the best one ever for us. Thanks Tim!

Wow that was such a cool spot to camp. We got in late after dark and Tim came and fetched us from the gate to bring us in. Super friendly guy, really welcoming, absolutely beautiful site. Can't say enough good things; thanks again Tim for the New Zealand welcome!

Absolutely phenomenal spot. Blown away, the listing photos don't do this slice of magic justice. Explored a little of the surroundings, the water - crystal clear and just stunning. The rock faces and limestone walls that create coves. Absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommended for a little getaway. Facilities 10/10 Thankyou for sharing this little slice of yours with us.

Even though we arrived in the middle of the night in the rain, instructions were clear and we woke up to the surprise of the beauty of the site. Be prepared to open multiple gates, but the end location is well worth the effort.

I love that it was in a very secluded area with limestone Bluffs and a river flow through property. It was very tranquil. There was no one else around. I had very nice restroom facilities and also had freshwater on the property . If you want to relax, this is a place to go, plus it was absolutely beautiful.

An incredible place to stop over.
It was lucky for us that the space was available but that we had also found this treasure at the end of our trip because if it was at the beginning we may not have left.
The drive in appears steep but with a slow approach we easily got our 6berth motorhome down to the site which was beautifully laid out

Epic property and amazing camping spot! Highly recommend! Wish we lived in NZ to
come back again. Our 6 person RV made it up and down the hill fine. We also loved the creek for a swim spot 😍

Stayed at the terraces for one night. This is one of the most scenic campsites that I've been to in my two weeks in New Zealand with the limestone cliffs and ajacent forest and stream. Tim and his dad are kind enough to bring us around for a walk through the enchanting forest. Gravel roads and compost toilets seems to have been newly added. Previous comments seems to have mentioned that the road may be too steep for larger vehicles. But for my visit, the new gravel tracks worked fine for my 7.4m campervan, so no worries on that. Do camp here if u are in Waitomo!
