25 acres of bushland 130 km's south of Perth, surrounded by state forest with a crystal clear creek running through it 12 months of the year. Secluded and very quiet with abundant birdlife and the occasional kangaroo, emu and echidna's passing through. Pet kookaburras - will eat out of your hand and steal from the BBQ. Located at the base of Logue Brook dam wall, where a short walk makes all water facilities available, plus trout and marron when in season. Adjacent to the Munda Bidi trail, with cycle paths running in every direction. Not to defray the natural environment, only lovers of wild life and serenity are welcome, so no Ghetto blasters or party animals. Laughing, singing, dancing and joking, actively encouraged! Tents, camper vans, small caravans with good drivers and trailers only. PLEASE NOTE: Weeknights require a minimum of 3 nights stay. Weekends 2 nights minimum. We have 3 beautiful and secluded sites to offer, right in the heart of the Dwellingup State Forest, 1 of them on the banks of the Murray River. All sites here enjoy a minimum of 100 metres separation. We love all animals here at Nanga River Retreat and we'd love for you to bring yours along (Remember to book our pet friendly site – ‘River Camp’, and dont forget to bring your little yellow bags please). We also enjoy an abundance of wildlife traffic through the property. We would love to see all the Witches, Wiccans, and other Weirdos out there, we encourage you to book in for a spell. (pun intended) You'll fit right in. 🧙‍♀️ We invite discreet devotees of herbs, and mushrooms, to visit for a while, you will absolutely love it here, with privacy you just cannot get at the park 🤙 Come and find yourself, or maybe lose yourself, down by the river in Dwellingup, forest getaways dont get much better. No motor bikes, quads, buggies, or any other form of self-powered transport in the dirt. So folks, the idea of this campsite and indeed of the entire property, is that it's intended as a tranquil and quiet retreat for those that wish it to be so. Thanks for understanding. A small advice for those bringing children, in fact for anyone that intends to swim in or be beside the water, this is a wild and unfenced river access area and all care should be taken in supervision. We are closed from 1 Dec through to 31 March due to High Fire Risk. Our 43-hectare property is on the edge of the Darling Scarp behind the historical Fairbridge Village. Only 1 hour south of Perth, so it is close enough for a quick weekend getaway but far enough to enjoy the silence of the bush. There are elevated campsites with views west towards Mandurah and the Peel Estuary, northwest views toward Perth City, and three dams on the property. Guests must be fully self-contained, as no toilets or showers are available. Just amazing views :) Some locations are suitable for tents only, and some for caravans only. 4WD/AWDs are recommended as most sites are not easily accessible with a 2WD vehicle, especially during winter. Dog friendly. Campfires are permitted in designated areas with the host's approval (depending on fire restrictions). We are closed over the summer period due to increased fire risk.

The perfect property for those wanting to explore the sites and enjoy the tastes of the Swan Valley. We offer two separate campsites, accessible to RVs, camper trailers and caravans, with two people maximum per booking. You must be fully self-contained, and must book in advance - no walk-ins, please. In the right season you can participate in grape harvest or olive picking on site. But at any time of year, you'll always enjoy the view of beautiful sunsets and sunrises and a starry sky on a clear night. A perfect way to unwind. On a good day when our chickens are laying we are happy to share fresh eggs for breakfast. We have 3 friendly dogs. Visitors dogs are not permitted.

Weekend Trip to Dougy's Den

After searching for a quiet spot away from other people for us and the dogs, hubby and I found the absolute perfect spot for a chill getaway. Extremely private with the just sounds of nature to calm the soul. Only a short walk to the dam for the dogs to have a good swim too. We loved it. Graeme was the perfect host and even brought us the paper in the morning. Thank you for letting us stay, you might just see us again xx

Helps getting out when the bank is wet, dont forget to chuck it in the water before you jump in. We suggest you have a look where the logs and branches are under water before you get in and the water gets muddied.

Another great stay! Peaceful camping near the river with awesome bird life - saw Rainbow Bee Eaters, Blue Wrens, red tail black cockatoos and kookaburra daily while sitting back and relaxing. Shane is a great host and will be back again!

A great location to just relax and recharge. The birdlife was amazing, so many varieties came by the campsite to say hello. We stayed in campsite 1. The river was just below. It was a lovely few days.

Dougys den is a beautiful retreat tucked away in an idyllic part of the world. The little creek that runs all year round is full of life such as little frogs and butterflies, the sunlight peaks through the canopy top gracefully in the morning providing a great retreat with no other humans enjoying bliss quietness. The location is brilliant, no more than 400m from the dam wall, there’s a toilet facility, running tap With non potable water and a rustic shelter, complete with a fire pit and table and chairs, overall a beautiful retreat :)

We stayed overnight at River Camp. It is a beautiful secluded spot. Plenty of wildlife. We saw kangaroos, a quenda, blue wrens, parrots, kookaburras and of course some friendly magpies. We are planning to go back shortly.

We stayed at the ocean view site. Really spectacular views of the lowland area and ocean. Just make sure you have a good 4wd to get to the site. But otherwise the trek is worth it.

Big open area for a group, or nice and private if by yourself. Flies were a little friendly, but that's expected this time of the year. Awesome quick get away for the weekend. Will be back again so i can purchase somefresh eggs. 😆 Highly recommended.

I loved caravaning at Hill Tree Farm. It is a beautiful property with (environmentally) friendly hosts, undulating hills, trees and much birdlife. I had the best night's sleep there as it's so quiet and the campsites are far apart. We will definitely return.

Dougy's Den is a magical little spot to camp. Beautiful surroundings with tall trees, ferns and babbling brook. Flushing toilet and cold shower, table and chairs under a gazebo. Dougy's Den is a well thought out site and Graeme is a top bloke. Will definitely be back!
