Self contained caravans welcome Drive straight in from Finn road, park in the paddock when you arrive. Children and dogs must have 100% supervision Birds on Chook Island can be very noisy. CHILDREN must be supervised AT ALL TIMES. Please drive very slowly, especially early in the morning and in the evening. Pets must be kept on a leash. Lake Preston has a limestone shore, and access is via a limestone track in front of our house. You can paddle your canoe or kayak, or simply enjoy a walk. Please note, the lake is very salty. Some great nearby spots to visit include the Crooked Carrot Café, Old Coast Road Brewery, Vineyard 28, and Footprints Café at Preston Beach. Something Different is a large machinery shed that has been converted into a comfortable holiday house with three bedrooms and one bathroom (extra toilet outside) and huge living spaces. You can really kick back here and relax! The walls and ceilings have been extensively insulated. There is a wood heater in the kitchen and another one in the main part of the Shed so it can be kept nice and cosy despite its size! You can drive your car/van inside the shed if you wish or park it under any of the many surrounding trees. The Shed sleeps 10 in total (base price covers all 10), with 1 queen and 1 single bed in one room, 1 dbl bed and 2 single beds in another room, and 1 queen bed and 1 single bed in a third room. All linen, towels, etc. are provided. If you have more people, they are welcome to pitch a tent or park their caravan on the grounds around the shed. For a large group (say 10 plus) we charge an extra $20 (total) to cover the extra power you will need. We loved camping at Dougy’s Den. This secluded spot has so much to offer. It’s very peaceful and quiet and the stream running through was great for cooling down in the hot afternoons. The shower and toilet are definitely a bonus. We easily fitted two caravans on the site. The site’s close proximity to Loguebrook Dam is great. We spent a couple of hours up there each day swimming. Graeme is a terrific host and made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend a stay here if you want some time to relax and unwind.

We made a couple of booking depending on who of our group was staying which days and it was no hassle for him. He gave easy, simple directions and was just a good bloke all round. After searching for a quiet spot away from other people for us and the dogs, hubby and I found the absolute perfect spot for a chill getaway. Extremely private with the just sounds of nature to calm the soul. Only a short walk to the dam for the dogs to have a good swim too. We loved it. Graeme was the perfect host and even brought us the paper in the morning. Thank you for letting us stay, you might just see us again xx

We spent 2 nights here and used it as a base to explore the Collie region. The lake is the best quality water in the Region and access to the water for activities is very good. We had a large Expedition Truck and the sites accommodated this well. All sites had water views and flat surfaces Good shelter and BBQ and fire pit facilites right on the water Host was amazing and given that it is a working farm, security is good.

We had a wonderful stay at Dave’s campsite! The site sits above a beautiful lake, and Dave kindly offered the large shelter area for campers to gather and relax—it was such a welcoming touch. During our stay, we unfortunately lost our son’s glasses in the lake, and Dave went above and beyond by diving in to help search for them. His kindness and generosity made our overnight camping experience truly memorable. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a friendly and scenic camping getaway!

Dougys den is a beautiful retreat tucked away in an idyllic part of the world. The little creek that runs all year round is full of life such as little frogs and butterflies, the sunlight peaks through the canopy top gracefully in the morning providing a great retreat with no other humans enjoying bliss quietness. The location is brilliant, no more than 400m from the dam wall, there’s a toilet facility, running tap With non potable water and a rustic shelter, complete with a fire pit and table and chairs, overall a beautiful retreat :)

We stayed at Shikuru Site 1 and had an amazing experience. Fiona was incredibly kind and thoughtful — knowing we were travelling with a newborn, she left out a picnic rug and cushion for us, which we used throughout our stay. Such a simple gesture, but it made everything so much easier and more comfortable. The property itself was fantastic — large, peaceful and clearly well cared for, with many areas mowed by a ride-on at some stage. It’s those small touches that really show how much attention goes into the place. The whole family were extremely kind, generous and respectful, which made the experience even more enjoyable. And the homemade apple crumble and other goodies they we purchased as extras were absolutely delicious. Our dogs were allowed off-lead as long as they behaved, which we appreciated. One of ours got a bit too excited at times, but with a bit of common courtesy it was no issue at all. Overall, Shikuru Site 1 was a beautiful, well-kept spot with genuinely thoughtful hosting. We’d happily stay again.
