You can swim or kayak in the unfenced dam, which is fed by a mountain spring on our 200-acre property. But please be aware that the unfenced dam is a drowning hazard for children, so we don't accept bookings that include children under 10 for public liability reasons. We've limited the number of campsites to 2 in an area that could host 200! If you would like even more seclusion, then you are welcome to book both sites so you can talk, drink and play music as late as you like, without having to consider another group of campers. This is a totally different holiday experience to a crowded beach resort, caravan park or public camping ground. It's like a hideaway in the hills. Each site has a flushing toilet (septic system). Campfires are permitted outside the district-wide fire restrictions that apply from late November to early May. Fortunately, gas or electric barbecues and stoves are permitted all year round, unless specific days are declared as total fire ban days. Please note that wood-fired barbecues or burners, even if enclosed and fitted with a chimney, still present a spark/ember hazard so are not permitted across summer. When campfires are permitted, guests can cut and gather their own wood from deadwood lying near the campsites or bring their own. Or you can buy sacks of cut and split firewood from your hosts on request. BYO newspaper and matches. Camping trailers and campervans work better on the sites than large caravans or motorhomes, especially after heavy rain. The sites are on slight inclines, so levellers can be useful. It’s not for parties or big groups. There are limited facilities (there is a basic composting toilet to use on site, but it’s not suitable as a caravan dump point) so you need to be totally self-sufficient and take all your waste and rubbish with you. BYO water.We are happy to accommodate up to 8 ppl, but please take everything with you, and leave our beautiful wilderness spot exactly as you left it, don't destroy the native vegetation and don't feed the wildlife. Fires only in the fire-pit please and must be totally extinguished (with water, so bring extra) before you leave, and not on fire ban days. We are the perfect spot for your trip to the Otways and great ocean road. We are only a few short minutes from Otways and short trip to coastal towns. You can enjoy a day in the Otways or great ocean road and come back to your secured camp spot on our farm. You will also get to experience farm life up close. Meet the animals or just relax and enjoy the space. We have 40 acres for you to wander around and enjoy. Collect the eggs or pat the donkeys, Meet the cows and guinea fowl, or enjoy a campfire (weather and Fire Danger period permitting). All our paddocks are treed, providing shelter to visitors and animals. We now have our gypsy van for the adventurous. Most importantly we know how important it is to provide adequate space between campers so you will not be crammed in - our promise to you. Visitors are more than welcome to bring the kids bikes to ride around on. You may like to bring the kite or outdoor games, however we do not allow motor activities that may disturb the animals. There is Barwon Park Mansion, owned by the National Trust nearby that you can take a peek through or enjoy the river walks in the town center, less than 2km away. Shops, including a supermarket, are in town if you forgot something. There are also some collectable shops you can visit. If you are trying to book and have difficulties, try instant booking. Lakeside Escape with Space for Caravans, Campers & Tents Located on the edge of the lake, our gorgeous lake house can accommodate a caravan or motorhome on a designated parking pad. There’s also plenty of room to pitch a tent or swag on flat, grassy areas. A huge deck provides the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun. The lake house includes a small kitchenette and a separate toilet and shower. Bring a fishing rod to try your luck catching silver perch, or nets for yabbies — there are plenty! There’s an abundance of birdlife, including cockatoos, rosellas, king parrots, kookaburras, and tawny frogmouths. Kangaroos and echidnas often pay us a visit, too. A grassed area with a fire pit is situated a few metres from the lake house, and firewood is available for purchase. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead. A grassy dog enclosure is available for guests who wish to explore the area while leaving their pet in a safe space. If you would like to bring your pet, please add the pet fee which is listed as an Extra during the booking process. A wood-fired pizza oven, located in a separate undercover area, is available for use. Lovely bushwalks, motorbike, and horse tracks are located close to the property. World-class surf breaks are within a half-hour drive, with Bells Beach being the most iconic. Torquay is home to surf shops and eateries — Rip Curl, Billabong, Roxy, and Rojo are all within walking distance of each other. You’ll also find great local breweries such as Four Pines and Bells Beach Brewery. Torquay and Anglesea both have vibrant arts scenes — the Ashmore Arts hub is located in Torquay, and Anglesea is home to the Arts Shed. The Eagles Nest Gallery in Aireys Inlet also hosts exhibitions by local artists. Markets are held regularly on the foreshore in Torquay and Anglesea, and there’s a weekly Farmers Market in Torquay.

This privately owned campsite is just 300 metres from the Great Ocean Walk and overlooks Milanesia Beach. It has stunning views of Milanesia Beach, Bowkers Point, Johanna Beach, Station Beach and Cape Otway. This remote surf beach is easily accessed via the Great Ocean Walk and a nearby secluded cove sheltered from the prevailing weather is often suitable for swimming, snorkelling, fishing and Kayaking. The 4 and 5 metre Bell tents are in private secluded locations tucked into the coastal forest with share ameneties such as picnic shelter, Camp Kitchen, toilet, shower and campfire. Every year we've got our friends as guests from overseas at Christmas time. We have booked this campsite for the second time already to show our friends the Australian wildlife. The site is not far from the Twelve Apostils, Ballarat Zoo, Great Ocean Road, spectacular waterfalls and Colac (for shops). Very comfortable to stay with tents (toilet is clean, rain water available), welcoming host and fresh eggs you can buy in the morning for breakfast. You can see curious kangaroos in the evening, listen to kookaburras and koalas at night. Very nice experience. Must visit.

We recently stayed for a couple of days at Faraway Lodge and it was an absolutely fantastic experience—especially for a large group and families with kids. The amenities truly set this place apart from the rest. Having access to a flushable toilet, hot water shower, power hook-up, and an additional storage shed was a huge bonus. We even used the shed as a makeshift kitchen on the days when the weather wasn’t great, which made the stay incredibly comfortable and stress-free. The campsite is completely secluded and private, well away from the main residence and you basically have the whole lake all to yourself which was the best thing about it. It really felt like we had our own peaceful space surrounded by nature. The location by the lake was beautiful and perfect for relaxing and glorious views, highly instagramable! We stayed with a big group—multiple families with kids, lots of big tents and cars, there was ample space for all of us. There was no shortage of activities. The provided tin boat and canoes were a highlight, and we made great use of them on the lake, creating lots of fun memories together. The host was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. They supplied firewood, toiletries, and other essentials, and regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed without ever being intrusive. That level of hospitality made a big difference and really added to how relaxed and welcome we felt. Will definitely be coming back!

Victoria’s property is just absolutely beautiful. Myself and my partner enjoyed our stay and Victoria was a fabulous host. She was friendly and ensured our one night stay had everything we needed. We brought our caravan, enjoyed a fire and relaxed. Great place to switch of from the everyday hustle of city life. Bonus was her two friendly dogs that just love being around people. Will definitely be back! Next time with the kids!

This was our first time staying at a holiday park, and we were pleasantly surprised. The park is set high up with beautiful views over the lakes, and it’s located on the same property as the town’s botanical gardens, which was such a cute bonus. The host was really friendly, and because the park wasn’t busy, it never felt crowded. The amenities were excellent — very clean — and the whole park was incredibly well maintained. Overall, a great first experience and one we’d happily repeat.

Bruce’s place was unreal. The location sat right by the lake and the whole area felt private, quiet, and properly secluded. Having canoes available was a big bonus and the utilities were solid. The tour at the start helped a lot too. He was kind, friendly, and welcoming. Already looking forward to coming back.
